LEGO Monkie Kid 2020
Vindicare replied to Classic_Spaceman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Yep. Trying to keep up & get the full line up is definitely hard with this theme. I was excited to hear Sandy & Mo were coming in a smaller sped boat set...but then I saw the price. It’s obviously a lot better than the HQ price, but still a lot for what you get there. With the addition of that Spider Queen though, does make up for the price a bit. While I prefer buying them in their sets, at least we have online to fill in the character gaps. -
While I don’t know how things go in Australia/New Zealand(which seems to be where Toyworld is), Target here used to have little advertisements on the shelves of D2C’s & directing people to their website to order. Looking now, I see the Technic Lamborghini on there. I even remember seeing an Assembly Square at B&N years ago.

LEGO Monkie Kid 2020
Vindicare replied to Classic_Spaceman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
That seems to be the general consensus...the prices. I’d definitely want more of these if the prices weren’t so bad(or if they weren’t releasing so many damn high ticket sets...). I didn’t grab the Cloud Jet, as that’s the one that really drew my attention. I get the wanting one of everything for your town. I have a bunch of not-so-City minifigs going about, it just adds a touch of fun. -
LEGO Monkie Kid 2020
Vindicare replied to Classic_Spaceman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
It seems like a dumb move to limit this to just LEGO stores & S@H. I assume more people in general are visiting their site & that could help...but people are still going in normal retail stores where LEGO is sold as well... Considering the fanfare the CNY sets received, granted the sets are vastly different, you’d think they’d know China-centric sets will sell in other parts of the world. Even though I guess that’s not the best example, as those are only sold in LEGO stores & S@H. This theme would definitely sell way better if they released it in normal retail. Maybe the exclusivity is temporary, for whatever weird reason. -
LEGO Monkie Kid 2020
Vindicare replied to Classic_Spaceman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Well, Monkie Kid didn’t get much love in the catalog...it only showed the new Foundry set. -
That reason is probably budget. Personally, I’d rather the money go to the actual set than getting three slightly different shirts that are barely noticeable under capes. Plus, those aren’t school robes, otherwise Ron & Hermione wouldn’t have those color legs. They look appropriate as they look to be capes over casual clothes(even though Harry is wearing the correct black legs).

Ah true. I suppose it would’ve been nice, and at least somewhat fitting, to get that version in his Hut set. And then another regular version in DA as is. Oh, we’ll likely get him in that set as well. But you make a good point as the overall focus of this set on the second movie where Hagrid is definitely not relevant. I’d happily trade him for Arthur.

There’s a fair number of new minifig prints. The quidditch robes, Lockhart, Fortesque, DP photographer, Lucius(pretty sure). New parts, the only one I know for sure is the light purple masonry brick in WWW. Are the 1x2x2 windows in Scribbulus & WWW new(blue/orange)? I feel like WWW may not be, but I haven’t looked. That’s an awesome idea. Before getting the student pack this year, I’d say that won’t happen...but now, it could. They are showing a lot of love to this theme. I’m fine with the amount & who we got. Still, I think omitting Arthur was a mistake. Rita as well, as she would make for a great minifigure, her print would be amazing. The only set they all came in with school robes was Great Hall. Otherwise it was CMF’s where they have different robes on. I think expecting a peek at casual clothes under robes was a bit too much to ask for, in this case. There’s no way they would’ve left Hagrid out of a Diagon Alley set, he’s way too crucial to it in this setting. I would say it would be nice to at least get a variant...but what else is there?
-
No doubt. It would just look a lot cleaner without the line breaks while the middle has none. They should’ve at least done 2 1x4’s for the middle section in that case.

Oops... I just have AT, Privet Dr. & The Burrow on my wish list. Only saw AT & Privet said the 24th so didn’t bother scrolling down to check the Burrow. D’oh. Well, as it seems the Burrow isn’t a 24th release, so you could get AT & PD then Order the rest on the 1st(and possibly get a GWP to boot). Looks like that’s what I’ll be doing.

It definitely looks cleaner with the new 2x6 tiles. I was wondering why they used the 1x6 tiles instead of the 2x6. They printed on a 2x4 tile...

Very nice. I love seeing the different scenes created using the book. This one is well done & you captured the scene beautifully for such a small space. Instantly recognizable.

Another awesome creation. Nice use of that spectre leg piece for bloody water.

I have them saved from wink.leakz. It’s cut between two pictures. And...it’s official. August 24th S@H release date for the sets for us poor schmucks in the States.

Right on. I played Space Wolves years ago, I agree Space Marines & their tech is definitely cool. That Marine you built is great, very recognizable. You did a nice job capturing the helmet as best one can with LEGO. I’ve seen quite a few cool builds, including the different tanks & Dreadnoughts over the years from that universe. Even an RC Land Raider tank.

Definitely me. Just the few on my radar now...Harry Potter Diagon Alley, the Ninjago D2C, Winter Village set, Modular...then I’d like to get the Hidden Side Castle, Monkie Kid Warrior Mech. A lot of other stuff is going to take a hit for these other big ticket sets.

Ha, what a great use for those boat hulls. I thought they looked vaguely familiar. It’s funny you built this while not being a big fan. Seeing as the game isn’t that mainstream(although I believe it has a bigger following in Europe), how did you come across this & deciding to build it?
-
Yeah, we can only speculate on why they do this. Like Draco in the AT. We saw him in both appearances at the Slug Club party & the pivotal death scene in a black suit, not his school robes. Or Hermione with Grawp. They can only do so much, even if it’s a very weird choice like on the case of Lockhart.

At this price, I’m fine with stickers. Imagine the price of all of this stickers were prints... Having QQS will make it quite difficult to think up an acronym that reads well.... They do plenty of research...of course they know the subject. Just because a color choice was made doesn’t mean they don’t know the subject. In the Magical Treasury book, there’s a nice look at just that. None of the designers seem like they don’t know the material.

My display for it is as big a mystery as that leaked Harry minifig. I wasn’t really sure what to expect, but this set is fantastic! Like others, the minifig lineup is slightly underwhelming, especially when you consider that Great Hall had 10... The selection isn’t bad though. Arthur & Rita should’ve been included. But, this is a building toy, and in that they nailed it. The details, that I can see, are great interiors looks wonderful. And you guys were all upset at the prospect of getting a black 18+ box....now I bet you’re wishing it was.

How common are missing pieces?
Vindicare replied to Joseph Barker's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Of the sets I’ve bought since the craziness happened, I haven’t had a missing piece. And two of those sets were day one purchases from S@H, so they weren’t sets that have been on a store shelf for some time. -
Grabbed a couple HP CMF’s -Harry -Dumbledore -Hermione -Professor Sprout

Very cool! You captured the look & relative size(piece count being what it is) fantastically. I like the weapons array you gave it.

I did see all of this new wave in Target this morning. As to the latest on the D2C...damn. It’s going to be quite a bit bigger than City...and now it’s saying Spring 2021...that’s not January. Which I’m happy about, dropping money on the Modular will be enough for that month.

Yeah. I found them on the shelves of the LEGO aisle in the box.whereas, Series 20 was on the end cap, and previously at the registers. But that was a different store. Best to check both areas.
