They did make the revival of Voldemort, complete with the “ingredients” to revive him. Making a werewolf Lupin set would be feasible, they’ve done them before. But yeah, other than omitting Sirius(which would be a bone headed move) from a Dept. of Mysteries battle, I don’t know how they could clean it up for the kids.

A lot of first timers are being made in the CMF, so I’m happy in that category. I have Lockhart on top of remake list. His print will be fantastic & he’s the only DADA teacher left.

Yeah, thankfully the Monkey King Warrior Mech is something I really want, so that cool building will definitely be mine. The other one, with the panda store...might be mine. I love the Shrimp Shack, glad I found it on a slight discount. It’s really all that side stuff that is stopping me from buying the Donut Shop Opening honestly. The crane & toy store should’ve been left out and instead added to make the donut shop bigger. That is what is really stopping me from buying it, unless I can find it on a big discount. I found Capital City for 40% off...otherwise I wouldn’t own that either.

LEGO Monkie Kid 2020
Vindicare replied to Classic_Spaceman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Haha, wow. It’s weird seeing Sandy in minifig form. They worked fast to get that out... -
Very nice. Looks like you took inspiration from the Jurassic Park D2C. I like the color choices, it feels like it was cobbled together by a mad scientist.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 20. Rumors and discussion
Vindicare replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Ssshhhhhhh...they might hear you & hike up the price. I wonder if card collectors, sports, Magic, Pokémon, gripe this much about their blind bags? -
So I’ve been battling with myself on buying 60233 Donut Shop Opening. I do like the majority of the set & feel it’s worth the $90 price tag..but just can’t seem to talk myself into buying it. I really want it for the donut store, coffee cart, & tv van/crew. I know there’s buying separately that I could do, I just prefer buying full sets.

Yeah, I guess I need to get either my eyes checked or my mind...I thought that stuff in the AT on the ground floor was party related, but then I saw the book upon closer inspection. I guess the room in the GH is open to interpretation. It doesn’t seem like a classroom to me. I’m actually thinking about putting the bookshelf from the Student Pack in there, making it more of an overflow of supplies room. We definitely have two Potions room though. The downside to Hogwarts having trouble keeping staff...a set with (early years) Snape makes sense. As does a set with Slughorn.
-
Honestly, I both agree & disagree with this. While it’s early in this revival, I would certainly liked to have the more important stuff first. At the same time, getting something brand new to the line is refreshing & welcomed. We’ve only gotten the one Potions classroom, in the Willow. If I’m not mistaken, that’s Slughorn’s office in the AT. Or am I misremembering where the hourglass is?

You shouldn’t have been hesitant, that’s an amazing price. The set is really solid. It’s a great build & feels very substantial. While it was a bit overpriced, it feels like the price is alright.

What is your favorite Harry Potter Movie
Vindicare replied to Bellatrix's topic in Culture & Multimedia
I kinda agree. The look of wonder on Harry’s face when he’s introduced to things really is something. But for me, my favorite is GoF. It really expands on the Wizarding World, both in the realm of Quidditch & other schools. -
I build mine with their corresponding movie, smallest first. So I guess I did more reverse order with PoA. Show off. Well, at least we have the Student Pack to tide us over.....for two months.

Is it time for LEGO to stop being colorblind?
Vindicare replied to BrickG's topic in General LEGO Discussion
DItto. I just saw a _______ whatever set I was building/playing with. Policeman, spaceman, cowboy, Indian, mechanic... Exactly. While I find this thread enjoyable & a fun discussion, it’s baffling that people see a particular race in a bright yellow skin tone. Certainly one could argue the hairstyle or type of dress could determine race, but that would mean putting people in a box...which is weird to me. By & large, anyone can do what they want with their hair & buy whatever clothes they like. While arguing the intent of an individual will just lead us to running around in circles, intent from LEGO is crystal clear. Yellow is the race of LEGO in-house characters. I don’t know about other white people, but my skin tone is nothing near that color. If someone looks at a minfigure & perceives them as one race over another, that’s on them. Not the minfigure, not TLG. The CMF is a perfect example of that. Is the baseball player white? Black? What about the Sumo? He could be Japanese. Or he could Pacific Islander. Or he could be white. Or he could just be a sumo wrestler with no defined race. He’s neither. He’s just yellow. Or, if that’s your thing, he can be whatever race you want him to be. -
Is it time for LEGO to stop being colorblind?
Vindicare replied to BrickG's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Exactly. It’s very strange that people are arguing over minifig hair pieces “belonging” to one race. Especially when they’re literally called wigs by TLG themselves, right? On the other hand...I do agree with your earlier notion about the ring toss family in the Fun Fair set. Looking at the Leslie Jones Ghostbuster, she has the same hair. On the other other hand(just pretend I’m General Grievous), a big feature of those People Packs are mix & match. So, as much as LEGO shows that family with that hair, it could just as easily be any other person in that set. As to the quoted comment, that’s an awful lot of mind reading on TLG’s past decisions. Unless you know the decision making at LEGO, I don’t think stating things regarding how they saw black people in the past is warranted. Yellow IS race neutral in in-house themes. There’s no arguing that point. Otherwise, they would’ve switched over. Licensed was tricky. Star Wars(even HP) started out as yellow. Why? I certainly don’t know...because Lando was & is a beloved character. They had to have had the foresight to think they’d be making him at some point in the near future. And look at the 90’s with Western & Indians or all the CMF series’s. It is awfully strange. A sign of current situation, I’m afraid. -
I guess I should’ve been clearer. I meant the reverse face is one Cho doesn’t have, so it could just be a random student. Well, yes & no. Although I should ask first, is that brickshop a business that sells LEGO that they get from LEGO themselves, I know in the States you need to buy a good amount in order to get sets from TLG. Or do they buy it from stores then resell it? If it’s the latter, they lose out on those sales once the sets hit the States & those people no longer need to buy them.
-
I could see Cartoon Network at least giving it a shot. They already have a good relationship with LEGO & all the other shows they've had. Plus, they do play some niche like shows. I certainly hope they pick it up, I don’t do much of the streaming services.

LEGO Monkie Kid 2020
Vindicare replied to Classic_Spaceman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Built the Cloud Jet today. It was an absolute joy to build. It may have some to do with it reminding me of stuff I’ve seen in anime, but it was a lot of fun. The personalization of the instructions were great, I loved every bit of them. The color scheme is fantastic & the shape of the vehicle is awesome(nothing like Ninjago). Monkie Kid is an equally great looking minifig. His prints & new parts are fun. I’m now an even bigger fan of this theme. -
Nope. As I plan on getting the lot, minus Hedwig, in one purchase, it’s more worth it to me to buy from LEGO. I got the Student pack & seeing as this Cho has a different colored wand & face as the CMF one, she just became a random Ravenclaw student.

Is it time for LEGO to stop being colorblind?
Vindicare replied to BrickG's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Actually, that emboldens the race neutrality of yellow minifigs. A highlight of the People Packs is their “mix & match” feature(although, oddly enough that highlight is omitted on the Fun Fair, where it’s not on Fun in the Park & Outdoor Adventures). While the box says that the ring toss people are black, because of the hair, it could just as easily be anyone else in that set. Also, who’s to say the mom didn’t straighten her hair? So it’s not even about the hair, it’s about the user. -

This is an interesting view on it. By its name though, licenses are the likeness of whatever subject they’re making. If they kept them yellow, instead of licensed, would it then be labeled as “based upon.” -

Is it time for LEGO to stop being colorblind?
Vindicare replied to BrickG's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Simply put, no. If someone has a problem thinking a non licensed minifig isn’t whatever race they want it to be, that’s on them. I was thinking this as well, but you beat me to it. We don’t need more complaints such as that one. I’ll just keep this short & sweet...absolutely. -
Sort of. Going in on a box with a friend this time. I’m just getting a full set & he’s taking the rest. I did buy a full box of Series 1(which he also ended up taking the leftovers)...but that was only because of Graves since I figured he’d be hard to find.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 20. Rumors and discussion
Vindicare replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Does anyone who has open LEGO stores(modified versions) know whether or not the employees would feel the bags for the desired minifigs? Seeing as customers can’t even get the boxes they want, I was just thinking about that. Within reason, of course & depending on the amount of people inside... There’s still three I want to get & Target/Walmart have been dry for well over a month. I’m hoping my stores will be walk in open by August 1st & I’d like to grab those remaining figs. -
Hmm...at $400...actual size Niffler, complete with shiny gold trinkets?
