You have some amazing talent. The color combinations you come up with are brilliant. That photo of yours together is mind boggling(I'd love to see more of that). The shapes of your buildings are also a breath of fresh air, with all the recessed areas to break up an otherwise flat wall.

You have a great start going there. The middle section(on the green baseplates) looks a bit...thrown together. It doesn't really look like a cohesive street. I know you're just starting out, just something to think about. I like seeing 76005 in there as I plan to add that to my layout as well. I'm not sure what the secondary market is for the Creator houses, but as your layout grows, I highly recommend them. 4954 Model Townhouse will probably set you back the most.

Awesome! Look at all those happy couples.

Bricks cracking... just from being connected to one another?
Vindicare replied to Endgame's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Even if you don't plan on keeping the set together, I would always build the set to make sure everything is there and that the isn't any cracked pieces. This is what I do. Unless I know I won't be building it for a good while. -
Good point. The builds overall aren't that great, but as many have said, the main draw of this theme are the figs. So, the sets themselves are basically parts packs. I admit, there hasn't been any memorable builds that I can remember off hand, 6869 Quinjet Aerial Battle was the most substantial and complete build. It wasn't really memorable though. For example, 10225 R2-D2, albeit UCS, was such a great and fun build, watching him take shape brick by brick. Hopefully as this theme progresses, they'll put some more oomph in there for us AFOLs. Navy Trooper- I'd be willing to bet they went/started with Batman, even with the darker content is because TLG knew he would sell. With the huge success of Nolan trilogy, it's pretty much a given that Batman would sell like crazy. I don't think the majority of the general public that would buy LEGO even knows who JL is. But, this is all speculation on my part.

This is the worst. I wasn't planning on buying Alien Conquest, Pharaohs Quest or Monster Fighters. I now own all of each theme. I'm going to attempt to stay away from The Lone Ranger, but will probably fail miserably.

Seeing as 10232 hasn't 'officially' been released yet, you have more than enough time to buy 10224 Town Hall now then save to get 10232.

That's an awesome cockpit. The shape reminds me of something from the old F-Zero games.

What a great looking second wave! I really hope this theme lasts, cause they are putting out great sets and figs.
-
The subject of LEGO sets + improvements is like beating a dead horse. Not that it's bad to point out stuff, but literally EVERY set has numerous things that could improve them. Maybe that's a big downside to being AFOLs, we notice all the good and bad in sets.

Hit up Bricklink and/or eBay. Wolfpack troopers are a little harder to come by because the prices are a bit out of hand, in my opinion.

Anyone got a side-by-side Creator Houses display?
Vindicare replied to Artifex's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I did, when I had my town set up. I know it's not much help without photos, but I think they all look fine in a little neighborhood. 4954 stands out a bit more due to it's size and not being a white house. -

Great review, Luxor! Nice descriptions and photos really the set in every way. The 2 booklets really annoyed me about this set though. These figs are just awesome!- 4 replies

They had a Hulk wax figure?! When was this...I went there just a week or so ago and there was a few empty areas. I was curious who wasn't there, I would've loved to see a big ol' Hulk.

Great build! You really captured the building and ship. Pretty cool you accurately recreated the ship with so few pieces. Awesome entry!

Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion
Vindicare replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
I remember last year when we as a majority cried foul on Ironman when we first saw photos of him. I am guilty of it. But once I got him in my hands, I really do like him & can't wait to get other variants. -
I may be too late, while all 4 are great sets and definitely worth buying I would... If you're a big fan of Star Wars I would, without a doubt, buy 10225 R2-D2. The build is by far the best and most fun build I have done since getting back into LEGO(and I've built over 300 sets). If you're not, I'd would say 10197 Fire Brigade. I was going to say 10228 Haunted House, but because 10197 is close to its retirement, it gets my vote. You really can't go wrong with Modulars. They're great parts pack if you like to MOC. The finished model on their own are great, but even better if you have others. If it is gone by the time you buy, go with 10228. I wouldn't worry about 10218 Pet Shop being retired soon, 10197 is just about there, so you'll have some time to get it. You gotta be careful when purchasing 10233, because unless you're really strong willed, you WILL buy 2. That train was meant to be doubled up. I think either of these two would be a good buy, really. I guess I'll give the boring ol' 10218 Pet Shop will being retiring(next year) first, so I'd buy it first.

I think I'm with you. 6869 Quinjet Aerial Battle is a really great set. I was just thinking about it the other day. Once we get moved and settled in I'm going straight for that and rebuilding it and setting it out for display. I think they did a great job designing it and it's very accurate.

From those small catalog photos, I'm liking what I see too. I second this notion. Do as many themes as you can too.
