I don't have any at my disposal at the moment, but I'm 99% sure the handcuffs don't have a logo on them. Not sure about the axe, however.

Always seeing Harry Potter potential?
Vindicare replied to The Real Walkers's topic in LEGO Licensed
It's really too bad, there's still so much potential left in HP. Among the target audience, however, I don't know how relevant HP is anymore. I know I'd eat up every set they released. -
You better lay off the Speedorz for a while.

Save money for UCS X-Wing or buy the UCS R2D2?
Vindicare replied to hachiroku's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Definitely 10225 R2-D2, hands down. The other isn't even out yet, and will be available for awhile. I've said this many, many times. The build of 10225 is by far the best I've done in years. It was a great and fun build just seeing him take shape step by step. -
Awesome! I think he looks great. The size is certainly spot on in reference to a minifig.

You can't take advantage of this, at least not yet. Its UK only, apparently. Hopefully it'll make it's way over here as well.

I'm not sure how they shot themselves in the foot... That's a great set. It's accurate to the show, the vehicle itself is awesome and can fit all four Turtles in. And it can go on train tracks.

I think 76005 Spiderman: Daily Bugle Showdown is a great set. Has a pretty decent building, awesome figs(Doom!!!) and a neat vehicle. I know I plan on swooshing that sucker around and playing with the set a bit.

I'm holding off for double points. It's very hard cause I need 10232. But, I'm planning a BIG purchase, so waiting is definitely going to benefit me.

I think you're over thinking this just a wee bit. Let's not point the stupid race finger at LEGO yet again.... Besides, I'm pretty sure of two things among the target audience, depending on the kid, they may(and most likely will) mix it up and maybe make the lions bad or make the crocs and eagles friends. And, I doubt they will see crocs as bad guys and automatically think that the crocs they saw at the zoo are evil animals. Just take a deep breath and relax.

But...a few examples. Jack Sparrow IS Johnny Depp. Samuel L Jackson IS Mace Windu. Nick Fury IS NOT Samuel L Jackson. See what I mean? All the minifigures were talking about here are the actual person playing a character. Not a cartoon character that happened to be based on someone, as you mentioned, without permission. If Nick Fury were in an Avengers set, then clearly that gets a big yes, but the mini fig isn't.

Any Fellow Warhammer Players About?
Vindicare replied to Daenerys Targaryen's topic in Culture & Multimedia
It's been a long time since I've played, because the shop I played at weekly closed. I have a rather large Space Wolves army. Decent sized Eldar, Tau and Imperial Guard ones as well. I really enjoyed the painting aspect of it. I've even considered getting the Thunderhawk and a few other vehicles to paint. I do play Dawn of War from time to time to get my W40K fix. -
Let's share our funny interesting photos!

Those are nice. Especially like the zombie shot, it looks more like a movie scene. Good job! -
That...is...awesome! The last photo is the icing on the cake, hilarious! Very cool build, love the piece usage, especially the tail.

10225 R2-D2 is my pick. It may be an unfair pick since it's UCS... Out of the 300+ sets I have(including all Modulars) the build for this was by far the most fun build I have done. It was so fun watching him take shape with every step. The finished model always brings a smile to my face when I look at him.

While I have no experience with customizing figs, I've heard these two terms thrown around a lot. Waterslide decals & Brasso, those are a customizers best friend, I assume. People use Waterslide to make custom head/torso/leg prints. Brasso, although I'm unsure on how to apply and what amount, but it can remove prints without damaging the plastic. Check out the Minifigure Customs section of the board. Someone with more knowledge will come along and point you in a better direction.

I really like the feature as well. When I first built it, I couldn't stop rolling it around on the bed. They did a great job on that wolf head.

Interesting query indeed. I would imagine that the only true rare minifigs are those from Cons. I'd say some promo figs are as well, but seeing as they sometimes pop back up may not make them so(thinking of TC-14 in this case). I don't think I'd call figs that came only in a $100+ set rare, say Dengar in 10221 Super Star Destroyer. I would however call him and others like him limited. I say that because the set isn't limited to a special weekend where not many people get in and they only have a small number of them. Now, back to promo figs. On a whole, I'd call them rare. Star Wars probably has the most cases in rarity. Then theres the Hulk promo fig. Limited runs/numbers is in my opinion what makes a fig rare.

I have to disagree about Jackson. Like I said earlier, the fig we have is based on a cartoon, not his movie(s) portrayal. It's not an Avengers Fury or even Ultimate comic version(which still shouldn't count, because it's not Jackaon). It's like the Jack Sparrow fig is clearly based on Depp, from the Pirates movies.

This is in my future. I'm on my third week of recovery from a kidney transplant. I'm convinced a nice little shopping spree of LEGO will speed my recovery ten fold. I'm waiting for 2x VIP time though.

Great truck! The interior of the trailer section is set up nicely. It has all the pieces to the motocross puzzle, well done. I like that the cab even has suicide doors. It reminds me of 8654 Scuderia Ferrari Truck.
