Thank you everyone for your comments and suggestions. I think I can improve the facade a little more and will use the suggestions as some guidance. For the moment I have been working on fitting out the first office. Overview of Office 1 Office_07 Hard at it working on the latest scoop. Office_08 The deadline is approaching. Can they finish in time for the afternoon edition? Office_09 A well stocked kitchen is essential. Pizza and coffee. What else do you need? Looks like someone is a train enthusiast. Office_10 It's a good thing they don't have far to go to the printers! Office_11 More to come tomorrow! Edit. forgot to tile the floor! Office_12

The little cat is very agile :) Thanks :) You are right Wookiee. I was running low on bricks and didn't think I could do another row. I managed to find enough dark red to do one more row (although temporarily using some plates) along the front which I think improves it. Picture below Office_06

I have been working on an office / apartment building to go with my official sets, and have got the main parts done. The ground floor has the main entrance with an office either side of the entry, and a central staircase going up to the two apartments on the first floor. Here is the street view Office_01 A high shot. Office_03 Mrs. Scratchen is going to live in one of the apartments and she is inspecting it along with her cat. This next photo below gives a hint of what one of the offices may be. Office_04 An overview of the ground floor. I will be fitting out the offices this weekend. Office_05 And here it is in the street next to the posh restaurant and the cool cinema. Office_02 This is my third attempt at a modular MOC and the first one I'm happy with (the other two have been demolished). I used a bunch of parts from 3 bike shop / cafe sets to get started with this, and the dark red bricks from that set was the inspiration for the colour scheme. Comments and criticisms are welcome. Thanks for taking a look.

This is awesome!

These have taken me way back tooooo :) Yes, my ice cream bricks are gone. I've got a few pieces to get for each of these sets to get them to 100%.The parts i bought to get these first three to this point were all from the same seller on Bricklink so I did ok so far.
-
Very impressive. It's massive! The brick built roads are awesome, and I love the row of townhouses at the end of the line.
-
I plan on printing some stickers once i've filled up an A4 sheet worth of what I need. I have 22 town sets from 1977-1985. Most of them are vehicles. Quite a few of the sets are incomplete so I need to source parts which is a slow process.
-
You are correct, and if you had read my posts, you would have seen I specifically mentioned both of those items as either missing or substituted at this stage. You have some nice sets there. A few of them are going to show up here :) My collection ends in 1985 (except for one set) so I have not seen that latter service station. Looks pretty cool.
-
Which vintage sets do you have? I do plan on giving them a clean at some point :)Now for set three - 377 Shell Service Station. Here are the parts I salvaged. The large red plate was the main piece that helped identify the set. 377_01 And this is what I bought from Bricklink 377_02 Here is the main building - almost complete. I'm missing the window to the right of the door. The door is the wrong colour, and I made do with the Shell bricks I could get from Bricklink. 377_03 The road plate was given to me. That is a story in itself. My brother and I had around 10 road plates, but he took them all so this one is the only vintage road plate I have at the moment. The car is from the days before you could put minifigures in them. At 90 pieces in total it's not a complicated build, although I think the colour scheme and style still looks good today. The second shot shows the female attendant in the shop area. 377_05 The street starting to take shape. 377_07 Clearly showing the difference between the old and new road plates.377_06 I hope you like seeing the old stuff. As lightning says 'keep watching!' :)

The snack bar is my favourite! Evil corporation is next :) That really sucks :/
-
You've caught me out Mr. Lightning. You would have to do a few mods to make your PO match my local. My local has the entrance inside a shopping centre, the counter is on the back wall, then behind that wall is the sorting area, with the post boxes on the external wall with access via the lane behind the shopping centre :) the Post Office is in a suburb of Melbourne. I do like how yours is laid out though!
-
Now to add set number two, the iconic Snack Bar - set number 675 This time I had a few more parts than I did with the house, the minifigures, the snack bar printed brick, the 16x8 base plate and the roof piece. 675_01 ...and adding the pieces I needed via Bricklink....here it is. 675_03 This set must have been released before Lego did a white 1x10 brick as the beam over the counter is done with 1x4 and 1x6 plates 675_04 The aerial view! 675_05 The backside of the bar 675_06 and, next to the house 675_08 This little snack bar is one of my favourites from the old Lego sets. Simple yet iconic. I've seen a modern take on it which is really good, but I think the original is also excellent. I am missing the sign, and will need to make stickers for the ice cream signs that go on the 1x2 bricks either side of the counter. I'll do them when I draw the stickers for the house. Another shot with the snack bar and house together. 675_07

Looks just like my local post office. I'll keep watching :)

Yes, all but one blue tile from Bricklink. The instructions folded out to a large two sided sheet with 13 steps. I do like the style of the old sets too. I'm glad to help you identify your minifigs.

Lego 10211 Grand Emporium - New Build & Review
SeanJFry replied to VintageLegoEra's topic in LEGO Town
Great build review man! I bought this set a few weeks ago and look forward to building it. Cool place to put a Christmas tree too. -
Over the last few months I have been trying to put together all my vintage classic space Lego sets. Now it's time to take a look at my old town sets. The collection that I shared with my brother was raided early last year, and what I was left with is a complete mess. Only a few complete sets. So I have started to attempt to resurrect my old town. First up is set 376 - house with garden. This is all I had to start with. Instructions, minifigures, the base plates, the tv brick, and some other assorted pieces. 376_01 I picked some parts out of my inventory, and also did a large Bricklink order, and my house is almost complete 376_04 It was a nice little build, with a nice bright colour combination. 376_05 The front door is supposed to be white, and I'm missing the window panes and stickers for the awnings. I hope to get those things sorted out soon. The back yard has some sort of incinerator, or brick feature - not sure! some nice seating and flowers. 376_06 The house is built on two 16x16 baseplates and can be opened up like this 376_07 The interior revealed. Kitchen sink near front door (I'm missing the tap), seats, and on the right side a lounge area with the Tv on far right. There is no bedroom or bathroom which is unfortunate. I guess they could sleep on the couch, and use the sink for a bathroom 376_08 The happy occupants. 376_09 The smart Tv 376_10 I have another 21 sets to sort through (most are vehicles though) and will update as I build my town. Thanks for looking, and I Hope you enjoy seeing the old stuff.

I finished building the Parisian Restaurant yesterday and I love it. The colour scheme and all the small details are excellent. I did mine reversed as I wanted the terrace on the left not the right. A few pics below. One clam is missing because it kept popping open so I've got it squashed between some bricks to hopefully teach it to stay shut! Parisian_10 Parisian_07 Parisian_09 Parisian_08

Update. I have started on the first floor. No interior, just the front wall for the moment.

It's strange that it's 'sold out' in the U.S. Our OZ Lego store has it has on back order. I bought two on day of release and they'll arrive next week hopefully. A little overpriced for what you get but since coming out of the dark ages I've developed a liking to minifigs! and the Research set figs look cool, and of course the dinosaur skeleton! I am jealous of the people that can just walk into a Lego store. For new release sets we have to order online and wait for our orders to ship from Europe.

Thanks! Mike's in the office crunching numbers. I'll post photos when I've finished the office. I'd love to see someone else's take on an Ice Cream shop. Haha, no Shell Ice Cream down here :)

Very cool laundromat, and your custom stickers are awesome. Thanks also for posting information about creating them.

I think you missed the part where I wrote that there will be anapartment above. I have not started building it yet :) Thanks! It's Octan, so it tastes 'awesome'! I bought the Ice Cream Machine set while I was building the Palace Cinema so it seemed like a good idea to make it a shop rather than a van. Now that sounds like a nice flavour. Thanks. Modulars require so many parts it may be a while before I get the first floor done.
-
I have begun work on my first modular building. It is currently under construction next to the Palace Cinema. The ground floor is open for business. The front Octan_Ice_Cream_01 Sitting beside the Cinema Octan_Ice_Cream_02 Jo serving customers Octan_Ice_Cream_03 Cold drinks are available as well. Octan_Ice_Cream_04 There is a small office behind the shop, and there will be an apartment above with access from the rear laneway. Comments and crits welcome as this is my first building moc!

MOC The Simpsons Android's Dungeon comic shop [LDD]

LDD file of the Mr. Plow truck? http://www.brickshel...ow_truck_06.lxf Here is my first incomplete version of the truck. My design in LDD is not very structurally sound.
