When you say that they come undone easily, do you mean when the rails are picked up &moved? Or when long, heavy consists happen to roll over them, there's a % chance for dislodged rails? The first scenario is okay for me, but the second is not, especially if said curves are toward the edge of the table... I'd say the glue option is a sticky one, at best. Not sure what others are doing with ME rails, but what about narrow gauge? I think that'll be the first thing for me to fiddle with if/when I ever get any... Your thoughts? edit: I am officially a 'citizen' of Eurobricks! Now I can vote! :)

Trust me, if I can do it, you can too! I sometimes feel like I have the shakiest hands in the west when it comes to building stuff... and then the first wheel I tried to "turn" did not want to cooperate... I really messed up. But, all the ones after I was able to do 90-95% consistently in terms of depth and straightness. So, as long as you have at least one volunteer/test wheel... you should be fine. I used an xL motor directly linked to the wheels being turned, which might be why it took so long for each wheel. The upside is that you don't have to wait even longer for it to dry properly. I'm wondering if some sort of chisel-type tool would be faster, and even more accurate than the screwdriver I used? but that also means moar money on tools so... In the long run, the stuff that you were using as well as the Snot, seems like they might cause more problems/cleanup over time. The eventual (everything's eventual) rundown of the adhered substances could leave deposits on the track, which is disastrous for 9V-PF hybrid layouts. But then regular traction tires pick up and drop off sediment too...

Updated Santa Fe train - what features would you want?
M_slug357 replied to Lego Dino 500's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Have you adjusted those prices for inflation though? What was $40 (usd) almost 15 years ago might be closer to 50 or 60 in today's market... As fer the nose&windscreen, the best I's can say is that you'll really have to think outside the box fer these. Also, if you could re-integrate lights for one or both headlamps, you'd be a genius! Luck is really all I can offer at the moment... -
I too need moar traction for my trains!! I recently found a setup that allows me to lathe bbb wheels with a flat-head screwdriver. It takes a while and makes a mess, but the results are good enough to fit lego's own traction tires on. The one things that I've noticed about the traction tires is that they sit inside the rails instead on top of them, which leads to longer wheel assemblies 'choking up' in standard R40 curves and switches. I haven't had a chance to acquire some of that Bullfrog Snot stuff, but I'm kinda thinking it might be better (at least for myself) to lathe a few drivers down so that they'd be able to fit an O-guage traction tire. But most of the engine's I've made have done well enough despite this. Your thoughts?

Yes please explain more about this!! Can multiple vehicles operate on the same road and in opposite directions? What devices are you using besides the magnetic strips and WeDo? -

Looks great! Also, really dusty! Or is it just weathering? -
It's a smaller scale, after alllll...... Does Toon Town still exist? Eddie Valiant, Judge Doom, Roger Rabbit, and Jessssssica Rabbit minifigures? Benny the Cab build, and maybe a Weasel or two? (...I'm getting old...)

The only downside is this arrangement has trouble with traversing the older 9V switches (prob 12V too, idk). I think it would probably struggle with pulling 8 wide rolling stock, but can manage quite a few 7 wide, and even more TLG type stock.... hehehe thanks for thee praise! I'm currently trying to make a version that's even more robust and versatile... stay tuned! ~M_Slug357

I think it might be a problem with the tolerance of the parts? Like some elements can be a few millimeters/micrometers bigger or smaller than another, leading to stuff not lining up 100 percent like it does in LDD. Also, there are still a few elements in LDD that are not true replicas of their irl counterparts... But in your case this seems an unwieldy amount of disparity. Have you checked all of the relevant connections that lead up to this point to make sure that they're all 'secure'? That would be my first check.

If your math is correct (idk if it is or isn't), then you may want to go for the bigger R88 ones? If my math is correct, you would then have a high speed friendly outer loop that has at least 5-6 inch margins on the straightaways, enough for partial buildings & landscapes.

I think you might be disappointed...? Also, is it August yet? lol

In a choice between Ghostbusters' HQ and this Disney Castle, I'd have to lean towards teh Ghostbusters simply b/c I already have the original Ecto-1. In the off-chance I won the lottery I'd.......

Why such large radii? (is that studs, in, or cm?) I'm curious as to what kinda operation you've got planned there...!
-
Are you going to make a fleet of these, or just the one? Might be fun to just mimic that entire Märklin set...? Also, which set are you referring to?
-
You could always experiment yourself, and post the results of your progress here...? For the most part, motorizing trains for 4 wide track is pretty difficult, but since it's a rollercoaster of sorts, maybe try recreating the rack&pinion system that real-life rollercoasters use? Just a thought....
-
Still in prototype stage, I'd say :) But yeah Coaster these are looking awesome!!!!!!! And while I personally have converted to PF (for the most part), the need for larger radii switches is still there. I wish I coulda been there to see it in the brick though! Have you thought of utilizing kickstarter or go fund me to ease the costs of production?

Any new news, rumors, or speculations??

WHY would they do away with the 2x2 connectors and go to plug-in connectors??? *That does not compute* Are they trying to be like Apple and edge out third party competitors??? (ie SBrick) I mean, YaY for bluetooth control!! (which should've been there in the 1st place) The only reason I could see for pin style connectors is to save on space, which would be greatly appreciated, but honestly, if these '2.0' components aren't at least 25-50% smaller then I can't see much benefit in switching over. There are many people who are still clinging on to the last few era (9v) of power systems, some of which have started to convert to, or made hybrid systems with PF. And now TLG is changing it up again? Well, it's a good thing I personally am studying electronics; Maybe I can bypass some of this bs... Anyways, any word if the WV Train will be powered or not? I'm envisioning a $200 usd set without PF elements, but with 16 curves and 8 straights; A 60-40 split on # of parts between a mixed traffic train and a WV styled station; About 4-8 minifigs & one cat, dog, or horse fig.
-
I'm actually more worried now that TLG might troll us again with one of those micro train builds like the Emerald Express... :/ We can't know if it's going to be a full-fledged train set until info about the parts count or price get leak- I mean released. Even a preliminary description would ease my fears... :/

What about that Winter Train set though???
-
What about a reversible option? Where the yellow throw and its holster are not connected to the main switch assembly, and the bar that connects to the flipper(?) can then be attached on either side. Also, maybe have that bar have 2-3 evenly spaced notches/ holes in order to accommodate variable distances from the switch.... Did this rambling make any sense? I could badly sketch up a diagram to illustrate what I mean.

Hey all, hopefully you've stopped by the frontpage recently, because a new LDD update file has been released!! I just downloaded it myself, and I must say that the most important elements added (imho) were the Servo Motor and the L Motor!! Please read this thread for more details!! Thanks, ~M_Slug357~
