Lively and colorful scene, and an interesting little story! Great job with the off-angle floor, that really catches the eye. Great job highlighting the other guilds too!

And maybe even a minute after that (or a day )! Thanks man! Haha, thanks DM! I don't usually mean to build things that scare people's girlfriends, but in this case I'll take it as an extreme compliment! Thanks dude! Thanks Scaevola! The head is definitely my favorite part of the critter. Thanks Hammerhand, and thanks for pointing that out! Fixed now! Thanks LV Thanks a lot Behemoth!

Book II - Nocturnus: Guild sign-up and Discussion
MassEditor replied to ZCerberus's topic in Guilds of Historica
Wow Jaapxaap, looking awesome! The roots look extremely good, very organic. Can't wait to see this done. After too long away from the forums (that is, for my relatively short time here) I'm glad to say I've got some time to build again. Just about done with my last of the Lagash Ur builds - it's the story that's holding me up at this point. I've got a ton to catch up on around here it seems, what with the Mount Up challenge done and Challenge III in the works. It was cool to get my first tag on EB for the GNAR challenge, and congrats to Emma for also winning as well as LV for his entry (the only other one entered from our seemingly small but talented guild). Speaking of Mount Up, got my challenge up now though late (fashionably, I hope haha). Mount Up: Armored Wyvern -
Fantastic vignette Jorrith! Great use of space in this build and a lot to appreciate, especially that wonderfully done mosiac floor. Like others said, I look forward to seeing more of Lord Mortis! As far as the photography goes, doesn't look bad considering you equipment. Does the camera have a tripod mount? Using a tripod single handedly improved my photography, I think.

Man I'm so glad you joined the Guilds, and with such a great entry to boot! I love your creative and intelligent builds not just in the medieval-fantasy genre but all around. You have a great sense of humor too as evidenced by this story/build and some others I've seen from you. In any case there's a lot of detail to enjoy here, the nicely-done ogre bartendess, the tree and dining area. Look forward to more from you!

Mount up! Rhopalocera Lagargander (Giant Butterfly)
MassEditor replied to Kai NRG's topic in Guilds of Historica
Woah, definitely a unique entery here! Very creative and I must admit a pretty little build and creature! Nicely detailed and composed. Makes me wonder what the caterpillar would look like! -
Sweet job everyone, great entries all around, especially my Nocturnian sisters and brothers! Now, if I can just get my wife to start calling me "Swamp Commodore!"
-
Awesome entry Emma, stellar critter and very fearsome looking! This build is filled with creative parts usage and skilled building, especially the head. Perfect pic of the mouth - that's the last thing anyone would ever want to see. Hats (or rats) off to you!

Note: I know this is a day past the deadline so if it's really too late to join I understand! The Darklands are known and feared for the foul abominations which roam these lands, both in the wild and in the captivity of Nocturnian warlords. Perhaps none however invoke more terror than the black wyverns of the Rakarth Mountains. Their numbers are not known but the black wyverns have long been the horror of the surrounding lowlands, where they go to feed on anything unlucky enough to be caught in the open. The black wyverns are twisted cousins of the noble beasts seen rarely in Avalonia. Because of their size and ferocity, black wyverns have often been the targets of enterprising warlords who wish to use the beasts in battle. This endeavor, of course, carries tremendous danger and has resulted in the deaths of many would-be captors. Black wyverns are not often seen in the front ranks, where they are still vulnerable to enemy arrows and ballista, but instead fly high above to provide commanders with an aerial view of the battlefield. Nocturnian warlords also find the black wyverns useful for interior policing and instilling fear in the border towns of rival commanders. Black wyverns are extremely powerful beasts and even a bite from their venomous maw can cause death to larger creatures. They are often fitted with simple plates of iron or steel armor to enhance their survivability. Main shot of Senurhem and his armored wyvern: A few other angles: About this MOC: I've been so busy last month I didn't have time to pick up a brick - that is, until yesterday when I remembered the Mount Up challenge deadline. So here I am, a day late hoping y'all will show me some mercy and still let me enter! I started and finished this yesterday but too late to get some pics so I had to wait til the morning. In any case this is based a lot on a fell beast built for a Lotr MOC. I built a couple years back. Hope you enjoy and of course any feedback is welcome!

Stunning build Gabe, such amazing detail! Wonderful shaping of this beast, I imagine this was a challenging build and a ton of work but the results are fantastic. The feathered sections on the back of the wing in particular is very well done, and the surrounding scene works so perfect here.
-
Sweet build Jakorin and great entry! Good use of SNOT to add some texture to the beast's sides and the overall shape seems very natural. Nice little base too. Also, wonderful photography! I definitely look forward to your future contributions to the guilds. I don't think you stretch the imagination by claiming this animal would be largely impervious to arrows, and especially its head. The mating behaviors of an animal like less would probably involve males bashing heads to win the approval of females, so think skulls are certainly needed. If anyone really needs a real-life example, take the cape buffalo, whose incredibly tough skull can withstand anything but a high-powered rifle round (we're talking like .375 H&H type stuff and up). But now I just feel like I'm helping to steer (pun not intended) this topic off course. Nicely said Bregir!

AoM Mills phase 2 : Eldritch's Carpentry
MassEditor replied to Gunman's topic in Guilds of Historica
Beautifully designed and composed Gunman, this is a gorgeous build. Great work on that sawmill, especially that imposing looking waterwheel. I have to admit I'm a little mixed on the rock work. Though I very much like your overall style, I think the way the rock juts over the wheel is a little unnatural looking. Perhaps a more gradual slope of the rocks over the waterwheel would look a tad more natural. Other than that small nitpick, very nice work as usual! -
Cool build here Josh, I love this quiet, peaceful scene - except for Hashbaz' death!

Nice little details! Good work! -
Very cool Gunman, one of my favorite entries so far and, as always, super sharp photography. Great work on the head, very nicely detailed (I love those red eyes!).
-
Another wonderful build CES, so glad you joined the guilds! I'm very much stunned by this excellent build, so much detail in every little corner. It's hard to say what I enjoy the most about this creation, but my eye is really struck by that old, worn wall leading west from the house on the little hill. Just excellent, and I can't wait to see more from you!

Great job Slobey, a wonderful ship you've put together here! (and congrats on your first MOC for GoH!) There's a lot to appreciate here, including that stylish border and the nice color composition of the vessel itself. The ship is simply but elegantly designed. Nice technique for the tumblehome as well! I wonder however if using some vertical hinge plates to connect the 1x4 tiles on the bow would have helped eliminate those gaps... Also, the bowsprit appears a little awkward - I think lowering it a few degrees would work well. Otherwise, excellent build. Look forward to seeing more from you on the forums! Nice thought, but sounds like wishful thinking to me! I think we Nocturnians will have to start placing glass floors on our ships, that way we can view the Avalonian navy at the bottom of the sea!

Sweet build and great use of those large panels. Good story too. Like others have mentioned, your builds would certainly benefit from some better photography. In the US you can get a decent point and click camera for $60-$100 and it would be well worth it. Make sure to get a tripod too or use something to support the camera whenever possible! To get a good photo and depth of field the exposure time will be way too long to shoot offhand with the camera.

Leaves on the Wind Fall as They Will.
MassEditor replied to Lord Vladivus's topic in Guilds of Historica
Excellent job Lord Vlad, you've really been topping yourself here lately sir! There's a ton to appreciate in this build, like the wonderful landscaping, trees and rockwork (great job with the stairs!). I love all the thought that's been put into this scene, like that perfect cluster of pine trees (nice shadow effect with the dark green too!) and the off-stud bridge. I very much enjoyed the story and the tie in to the big events happening in Nocturnus. My only suggestion would be to add some blue plates/bricks under those trans-clear round plates so you don't see the brown underneath. That way I think you can still get the whitewater effect of a rolling river but still get that blue hint from the calmer water at the bottom of the stream. Considering the length of the stream I would recommend some elevation changes along the river, even if just by a plate or two. In any case, another fantastic build by you! -
Good work RedViper, awesome to see you throwing yourself in the ring with some solid builds. Nice to see a quiet village scene as well. You've got a great lead on landscaping but the others above made some good points about adding a border (whether decorative or a natural, irregular style) and doing a little more work to the stream. I think covering it in trans blue and dark blue round plates would really add to the scene. In any case, I look forward to seeing more contributions from you dude!
-
Wonderful job as usual BB! Love all the detail packed in the scene and that octopus is quite awesome. The posing works so well in that first scene. Really nice job with those eyes too! I could say more but I will go back to admiring this build!
-
Clever build and nice photography as usual! I really like that bridge!
-
Great to see your first MOC Behemoth, looks like you're well on the way towards building an adventuresome story for your character. Look forward to seeing more of this tomb.
-
Thanks Gideon, great critique too! Looking back I definitely agree the rockwork could use some more color variation. I will be keeping that in mind for the next build! Awesome DM, glad you liked it!
