Review: 8961 Power Miners ~ Crystal Sweeper
pcvando replied to Erdbeereis's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
The orange motorcycle is cool, and I also like the way lego designed the command bridge. -
I love the dwarf statue, and the little tree crowing over and through it, very cool. I also like the deer, a very cool, and actuate portrayal. Keep up the great work! :)

I don't usually like moc's with tiles everywhere, but I really like the way you make the mountain slopes, and found a good balance between open studs and tiles! Good job! ;)

This is the first time I have seen this!!! I absolutely love this! You should make some mortars too, very cool, keep up the amazing work! It almost looks like this could be part of a tabletop war game!
-
Thanks! I was contemplating calling it a raft! I am experimenting with mortar types, but I find that I like using the barrel, it looks powerful!

Hello! Here is my first Eurobricks MOC post, It is a mortar barge, used during various conflicts by all sides during the 17th, and 18th centuries (possibly earlier and after) to defend ports and harbours. It could be towed by a larger ship, as it cannot move on its own, or it could be positioned and anchored for effective defence. The ship consisted of a simple flat top barge, usually wooden, with a 36inch mortar, additional shot, powder, and other items necessary for its operation. It also had a crew (usually of about three) to operate it. I have decided to recreate it, building off of the "Kraken Attacken" Lego set (What a strange name XD) It is simple, but features some planks for support, with the mortar in the interior, and enough firepower to stop a large vessel, or siege a city! Below are a few photos of the vessel, crew and mortar design! http://www.flickr.co...in/photostream/ http://www.flickr.co...in/photostream/ http://www.flickr.co...in/photostream/

I agree, it has that cartoony feel to it, but it is probably due to the faces, especially captain brick beard. (version 2…or 3?) The face can be found in the monster fighter sets, though. So… this set really has no "new parts" A blue crab would have been nice!

This ship is very well armed for her size! I like it a lot, my favourite part is the cabin! I just love how compact it is, yet seems very large inside! Brilliant little ship! ;)
-
It is always hard to build around a lack of the right parts, I have found myself in this situation before... I like the ship, it has a "cute" but deadly look to it ;) I would suggest maybe giving it red sails? Maybe to compliment the red hull. Keep up the great work!

They look nice! I definitely agree that some lighter colours should be available, to go with the "good" factions ;) -
I usually find that I get the best results when using a bucket, or larger muzzle such as a barrel! I hope you get at least one idea from my suggestion, I quickly made a little example of what I meant, and added a few gunners/sailors to operate it! ;) The next photo is a cutaway, its up to you how simple, or how complex you want the mortar design to be. Im just hoping to give you some ideas! (Forgive the baseplate colour, it looks weird but is very cool, its an old lego system baseplate with a printed beach, grass and water)

Full Broadside!!! Wow! as always from you; you picked the right colour! This is absolutely amazing. I can't wait to see a build, but It seems like a very big challenge, even if you had all the pieces. It is absolutely amazing, a great addition to the ever growing bluecoat navy! It looks very slow, but extremely well armed. I like your cannons too. My jaw is still down, it may fall off if you actually build this monster of a ship!

@Blockbeard We can still hope… right? ;) There will for sure be a ship set when the next POTC is released. Some possibilities may be the ships I listed, or (if I recall correctly) didn't lego make the flying dutchman but never release it? I remember hearing that somewhere (or reading it) Not this flying dutchman: 10638313-1351239823-796054.jpg XD

Someone has been playing AC Black Flag ;) I like the ram, most ship builders forget about the ram, or either make it way too small. One reason being is that it was partially underwater, so it was not always seen. Great job with the details, it has a very realistic look. The inclusion of mortars is a great idea, I have been working on a few mortar deigns, do you have any pictures of the way you make yours?

All I can say is… Dear Santa… I really like the lifeboat section, and the midsection where the cannons can turn around. Very cool, and you obviously chose the right colour. BLUE! Its a very nice boat… er…. I mean Ship!

/\ I agree, a very bizarre crew… It looks like they have run out of ideas. (Or they want to keep the future pirates torsos a secret) I came across this screenshot from the Lego Pirates of the Caribbean game. I would really like these torsos, but they have never been released. I remember watching an interview about the game, and the host said something like "all mini figs from the game will be available in lego set form" I dont recall these torsos being in any POTC set. Can we expect to see them in future lego sets? I hope so. (I would love a HMS interceptor, or the HMS Dauntless) Link to Image: http://86bb71d19d3bcb79effc-d9e6924a0395cb1b5b9f03b7640d26eb.r91.cf1.rackcdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/admiral-norrington-lego-pirates-of-the-caribbean-character-screenshot.jpg

Do you have a picture of the coin? All the links are broken :/ -
Hello, I have always wanted the 375 lego "yellow" castle, and have passed on several occasions to get one. I want one complete with all pieces, instructions, stickers and minifigures. I have recently found two really good ones. One comes to about $300CAD with everything MINT but the box was opened and the set was displayed. The other comes to $400CAD with everything, Very good shape minifigures, and the inner bags are still sealed except for the minifigures. Will the value go up over time? It is the first lego Castle set. I am asking because the prices are eveywhere on the scales. I have seen anywhere from 150-2500. Let me know if these prices seem right, I am leaning towards the one with some sealed inner bags. Thanks!

You can get hulls from pirate sets in blue, brown, red and white. Other sets have colours ranging from trans clear to pink. There may be others but it depends on what theme it is from, and what type of hull. The hulls I am thinking of are the ones used in brick beards bounty, for example, and carribean clipper. Then there are the smaller ones used in the imperial flagship (original, not the 2009) and the imperial armada ship. There are many hulls, various sizes. I would assume you want the large ones, and in that case, I believe that you are limited to brown only. Hope this helps.
