  1. Ok, I will take a better picture of the board game and the instructions. I am very surprised that nobody seems to know much about it! When I first saw it I was very surprised, but even more surprised to see that I have a second one still sealed in my other sealed BSB box. I was wondering if it came in more than one set perhaps… but this seems unlikely because other sealed "classic" sets I have don't have it. +Maybe the board game deserves a topic on its own… Happy Anniversary indeed! Im sure there are even more unsolved pirate mysteries!
  2. Thanks! I am very confused now, when you told me yours did not come with the board game, I did some research to see if it was a region specific thing, but I can even find anything on it, apart from one that looks similar from an italian promo and was only included in a small amount of sets. I have another sealed sculls eye schooner, and when I carefully examine under the flap, it looks like I can see the same board game beneath the plastic tray, but I don't want to open another BSB to find out if it is for sure. The game is actually quite fun, and gives examples of the game to be played on a larger scale, with big models. My only guess is that it is only included in the north american BSB, or it is from a promo BSB. Thank goodness I seem to have two of them! (one opened one sealed) + and if it is as rare as my research suggests, there may be very VERY few examples left in existence!
  3. This should be interesting. But I agree, TLG seems to stay away from bigger sets of any kind.
  4. It is very cool. I don't know what to say, my jaw is still down. I love the modular idea, and the amount of detail you included is amazing. Great job!
  5. I have noticed this too… Sadly. And don't even get me started on the new plastic china bad material pieces. It is absolutely shocking. I don't buy new sets anymore. Only pre-2009 sets for me. I love the old 1989-1990's solid pieces and solid heads, but now everything is getting cut back even further. For me, the changing point was; "the hollow studs allow air to pass through" so if I eat one… I won't choke? (works in theory) More like a quack of you know what. Anything to cut back on costs.
  6. I have to say the timing of the town submission to TLG was bad… very bad. I know he can't really control cuuso etc… but he should have waited until noting good was coming out. TLG definitely did not go with this because TLR was coming out. Sad. Anyways, hopefully someone will make some more good western or pirates cuuso sets.
  7. Ya I agree… It would be much more expensive. So I think I have to go with a orc army builder.
  8. Come on man! I am so jealous sod these… the detail is just amazing ;) Please please please do some pirates ones
  9. That tin is a media or reporter exclusive tin. It contains mini figures and a movie theatre with seats, it is selling on ebay for 100's of dollars.... The polybag is new to me.
  10. Well…. the ships are a great idea, honestly at this point, I would take any pirate set I can get from the Lego group! ;) The Jungle ruins with the natives (aztec warriors) is epic…. but it is a real set already, If you did not know. It is called enchanted island, my review for that set will be posted very shortly.
  11. I would be interested to know what people think of the board game included in this set... has anyone played it?
  12. I agree, very cool. It looks like an official forest men set. I like the playability factor, but you could add some foliage on the ground. Great job! Keep up the forest men, I love them! ;)

    Canadian Eh?

I think AMC does or did. I believe it was a first day thing. If you really must have them, they are relatively cheap on eBay or brick link. If you get the lego movie game, you can get the emmet western figure, I know EB Games/Gamestop has them! Most stores still have them, even though they were supposed to be a pre order only thing.
  14. Make some pirates ones!!! ;)
  15. Thanks guys! I am glad everyone likes my review! ;) There are more to come!
  16. I have the clipper, I have… well… currently I have a lot. Here is a pic just to show you my unopened boxes… this does not include my opened ones. I have a feeling that some may get jealous… In addition to these, I have the Caribbean clipper opened, the imperial flagship v1 and v2 opened, several small sets, Eldorado fortress, Imperial trading post, many sabre islands… And a lot of figs. ;) If you are wondering how I got these…. they fell off a truck…… Just kidding...a lot of time collecting. Yea… The black transitional handles are a bit weird. They were included when lego had an idea about shooting cannons, but not how to do it. They are quite rare, and don't really work well ;) It does have the spring ones! They are so cool, and shoot much farther than todays shooting cannons! I forgot the mention that the mini-figs heads are also not hollow, they don't let air pass through, thats why the new ones have holes through, so if you eat one, you could possibly breathe through it. (Works in theory) You are totally right! It just makes you wonder how epic and amazingly good this would have been back in 1989! It was revolutionary! :)
  17. Thanks! Im glad you liked my review. I don't know what people like better, video or photo reviews, but I have so many coming! Also you are totally right about LDD. It is hard to visualize unless you have the pieces in hand. Cant wait to see some more of your ideas, they are very good! Buildings would be so nice for the pirates theme! +Add a profile pic to look cooler! ;)
  18. Wow, very cool, I am a bit speechless. Do you do orders? ;) If you are in the mood for making these, and need some ideas, could you do some for the pirates thread? Maybe some classic ones, like the bluecoats, redcoats, pirates and islanders? Very awesome indeed!
  19. you should check out the pirates forum under the 2014 pirate sets thread. There is much talk about that set. Most people don't seem to like it for the pirates theme, but other than that, it looks like it would be good for parts for ship making, I am definitely getting it ;)
  20. Hey, some nice ideas... You should try to build some! It would be really cool to see some of them. (If you don't have the pieces, Lego Digital Designer is good, free to download, official lego download) A few of the sets you proposed are very close to actual lego sets form the "good old days" 1989-2002ish You should have a look, you must think like the old lego designers! Welcome aboard!
  21. [pid][/pid] Hello! Today I bring you the Lego Pirates 6285 Black Sea's Barracuda Review! Name: Black Sea's Barracuda Set number: 6285 Pieces: 865 Year: 1989 (Then re-released in 2002 for the "Legends" set collection number 10040) Mini-figures: 7 (Including Red Beard and a Female Pirate) The box is surprisingly large, even though the set has only 865 pieces. The box uses the original pirates yellow "LegoLand" borders. (I miss those boxes!) The box is very sturdy, it is made from several thick cardboard layers. I have included a Bluecoat mini-figure to compare the size, and give you a good feel for the width and height. The inside of the box features plastic inner trays, to display the mini figures, parts, and the hull of the ship. The trays hold the mini figures tightly and prevent them from falling out when the box is sealed. The first thing that caught my eye when I first opened the box was a yellow printed standard size piece of paper, and a cardboard game board. The piece of paper has some nice visuals, and instructions for playing a game with some friends, and the lego pieces and mini figures in the set. The game board is made of cardboard, and can easily be destroyed or damaged, so I imagine that this is a very rare item indeed. It is very visually appealing, as it contains hand drawn images of every lego set in the first wave release. The point of the game is to reach the finish line first, using your mini figures. The game requires a dice, but does not come with one :/ Different numbers that appear on the dice give different weather effects, such as "Fair Wind" or "Gale" and other natural effects such as "Hit a Reef" and "Shark Attack" which will effect the way your mini figures progress. The set has a variety of colours, making the set easier to build when you separate them. However, there are very many black pieces. The instructions, I assume, would be difficult for a newer builder to follow because of the amount of steps on each page, and the instructions do not clearly identify them. At least the instructions are not black and white ;) It took me some time to build it, but the build was enjoyable, seeing all the crevices and storage areas in the lower hull. Once build, she is a very fine boat… err… I mean Ship! You also get a good mix of mini figures, including the rare female pirate mini figure. You also get Captain red beard, but he is found in almost every mid-large Pirates set. (and some small ones) You get seven (7) mini figures in total, it is a good amount, it makes the ship feel lively. (However, I think that 9 would have been better). You also get a standard brown rowboat. (There are never too many rowboats in any lego pirates collection!) The figurehead on the vessel is nice, a bit plain, but gives a "Classic Pirates" feel to the set. The yellow cup is also a nice addition, but a yellow headband may have also been cool to include. It would have made is seem more like a statue. The ship features many cool details, including opening lower deck doors, and a nice detailed captains cabin, accessible from the top, and rear of the ship. They open to give full access for the best play and display capabilities. There back of the ship has some nice details, and the yellow brings a very friendly feel to the pirates aboard the vessel. The deck has so many features that I am sure it will keep any builder happy for a long time. It also makes for some nice photos. Below you can see some of the crew in action! Overall I am very satisfied with the set. I believe that it is my favourite pirate ship, but I have yet to get my hands on the Skulls Eye Schooner. (It looks nice) I hope you like my review, and I hope it gives you some information, or at least some pretty photos to look at ;) Let me know how you feel about the set, and the fun game that comes with it! If you would like more photos, just ask! Could someone please add a poll for me? Maybe a poll from 1-5? I would love to know how people rate this set! Keep an eye out, I have more reviews coming!
  22. Cool! It looks like one of those slave trader ships, except without the middle part. Very interesting design! It looks quite tall, is the interior detailed? Do you have pictures of the inside and cabins? ;)
  23. How very interesting… In the words of willy the groundskeeper; "Do you want to get sued?!" It seems identical inside, "Children's building area" "Minifig building stand" "Pick a brick wall" and the yellow floors. I tried finding out more but not much is available. It would have been interesting to see how the prices compare, and in some of the online photos I noticed some out of production sets, including some older ones.
  24. Is this a lego store? It has the same yellow floors, and a pick a brick wall... It is a cool display, lucky find!
  25. Haha! That is so true! Im sure the imperials would have fun as well, especially when the governor is not watching! ;)
