  1. That's one busy intersection. Cool idea, loving that construction site... and the light creates a really nice ambiance. My favorite part is that hastening official - he's probably in such a hurry to provide yet another suggestion for the whateverthenamewas-council's speaker's designation - and the cloud of dust behind him
  2. I'll never look at bandannas the same way again... poor sailors Oh, and that portrait would give me nightmares
  3. Goddamnit, Jerome! The idea of a puddle of mud as the center of a MOC is brilliant already - and you transformed that idea into something equally brilliant looking. Only nitpick would be that tree... it looks like the design could use some update as it seems to be rather basic compared to the detailed rest. But that's just a very minor thing. Great job
  4. Seems like the other gangs of Charlatan Bay are about to receive an offer they cannot refuse. Convincing characters, lovely depiction, great gentlemen's club... and yes, that secret storage room is a pretty cool idea Would be sweet to see some more of this honorable family one day.
  5. @Dukesc Goooood! Thaaanks a lot, great you are in, too
  6. @Bregir Procrastination often results in marvelous ideas and creations, so keep procrastinating! Not tomorrow - now! Depends on how many bricks you're investing. @Capt Wolf Good looking WIP so far I, too, hope the bow will live up to the promise. About the rigging... just when I'm abandoning this technique digitally, it catches on in the brick As I told CB at some point, you could try using this part or similar ones for those - whatever the correct nautical term is - step thingies.
  7. Oh, you... HRS Cinnebon... proudly sponsored by the bakery guild of Granoleon (which... kinda also sounds like a breakfast cereal...), now where is Admiral Croissant again?!
  8. @Franco Clarke Splendid! A third rate it is. Thank you All names work... as long as they don't sound too sluggish
  9. I guess he can also walk on Lego like it was... water... He must be the chosen one - the Bricksias
  10. Not much to add to what Bregir said - agreed, it's mostly the general proportions, resulting from the use of those prefab masts. So should you come around using 2x2 round bricks (and other pieces for the upper mast parts), it'd be easier to come up with more realistic proportions. Here, to demonstrate, check this pic - a vessel with royals (those smallest top sails on all of the three masts), but well, it portraits the proportions between hull length, mast height and yard length pretty decently, and also gives an idea of sail size:
  11. I thought so at first, too... but placing her next to a 3rd rate puts things back in perspective And compared to another (single gun-deck) frigate she is about the same size... just higher... can't really imagine this affected seaworthiness is a good way Hehe... nice side effect JK. I'm amazed, too, by that spacing - but a plan is a plan is a plan. Hach, you know... Tschörmens Those are just tiles. Not really convinced of the design, but nothing else (SNOTed versions, flextubes) got close enough to the plan... Öhh... Maxim started it!
  12. Btw, the above construction plan... I kind of fell in love with that ship, so here's yet another WIP: La Gloire - 44 gun 5th rate - an early frigate or cute-SotL... including minion with banana for scale Length at waterline is 103 studs, beam 25. All basic structural issues are solved - now comes the detailing part.
  13. @gedren_y I hope I don't sound offensive in what I'm about to say... It's really just meant to help you improve your techniques - after all that is what all of us strive for here, isn't it If you take a look at this as an example of small double decker (HMS America - a 5th rate from 1749): you'll see that the ship narrows towards the stern - which I'm not sure your vessel does. You could use hinge-plates or other techniques to achieve such a result. your gun-port pattern is not accurate - it should be arranged like a chess-board: the gun on the upper gun-deck would be placed in the middle of two guns on the lower gun-deck, and so on. This has structural reasons, as guns 'on top of each other' would weaken the hull. guns would usually be arranged across the entire length of the ship, not just amassed in the middle - so you might want to rethink that link between the gun carrying part and the red bow. get rid of these parts at the bow - in case you're not going for a mid-19th century vessel with a closed bow, try to build head-rails using flex-tubes or - again - hinge plates. the stern... easily one of the most difficult bits - especially when building multi-deck vessels... check the ship index, try out a few things and report back
  14. Well depicted trouble here, and I really like the inclusion of the Royal Society in story and MOC. Oh, and I might steal that cart design This road not only needs traffic rules, but also a roadside assistance service. Great job
  15. Haha, what a lovely scary bunch. Loving Colette being thrown through that window
  16. Woah, great build, CB Lovely landscaping and those coaches are pretty well done. This road clearly needs traffic rules
  17. I... I don't know... mad minds think alike, maybe? But nobody please forget: Maxim started it all
  18. Two first-rates incoming
  19. This is a cool shrine, well depicted, detailed, and I love the story you came up with for it My favorite bit is that you used that triangle-in-a-circle-part thingy on top of Poseidon's throne... I'm using it for a project, too - seems SR con artists and Oleander clergy think alike... wait, what?!
  20. @blackdeathgr That's most generous of you and the local gentry Something tells me this won't go unnoticed The naming rights are all yours!
  21. Franco, this is a very good looking frigate you've built here, a classic design fitting well to HRS Tigre you've built My absolute favorite part is the stern, and the color pattern in general. You've come a long way since your first ship design, I'm proud to call you my fellow Oleander Next step on the road to perfection is masts and sails As BD said, to glory! Keep it up, his Majesty is watching
  22. Of course they are eligible Counting on you here Hey, it's less the end result that matters, but more the way we're getting there. I hope we can have a fun building and learning experience with this program. That's for later to be decided. For now it's the team building exercise that matters. Maxim started it
  23. Definitely doesn't hurt. Looking pretty cool already - sleek lines... the bow is well integrated... loving that figure head Good call to go for a single-stud-wide keel The man's got taste @Bregir Scumbag Corry: blames others for starting naval arms race... builds two vessels JK. Well, that galley design is interesting, and your Endeavor is getting better and better. At first I didn't really like the stern galleries (the use of those arches, to be specific), but the design is growing on me
  24. All Hands on Deck! With the growing importance of Oleon's colonies the need for protection increases - and with it the need for ships, ships and ships. For this reason His Majesty has decided to personally fund the purchase of new and powerful vessels provided by the shipwrights of the realm. This is a call to build six ships-of-the-line to form La Royale's First Battle Squadron in New Terra. Three units of both 4th and 3rd rates are requested. Sign up to build one of them, and the Royal Navy will purchase the (unlicensed) MOC from you - each of the three 4th rates will be purchased for 125DB, and each of the three 3rd rates for 150DB! Additionally, participation in this program won't go unnoticed in regard to more prestigious rewards, and on top of this the design most pleasing His Majesty will be made flagship. All vessels will receive HRS status, and will proudly fly the ensign de la Première Escadre de Combat - ensuring Oleon's naval supremacy. This program will be open until all six units are signed up for. Please note that you can only sign up for one ship at a time, so you'll have to finish one first to be able to get another. Help and support will of course be provided along the way for all shipwrights, so if you're looking to increase your ship building skills, here's your chance 3rd rates: HRS ... by Franco Clarke HRS ... by Dukesc HRS ... by anonymous 4th rates: HRS ... by blackdeathgr HRS ... by Phred HRS ... Vive le Roi!
