  1. Bad choice of words, my bad. Of course you don't have to. But it's the only thing that makes sense. Not for the purpose of placing troops somewhere, but for the purpose of redistributing specific troops somewhere else. Therefore troops need a unique designation - or name. With all these questions here, and the confusion, I hope you see how flawed the current setup is - and how much work this will cost us to handle once military becomes more prominent...
  2. You have to fill out the blanks where it says 'Troops stationed on LAND: List where your troops are located by platoon (you can list them at higher volumes if in the same place)' or 'Troops on vessels: Detail which vessel has how many additional troops on board' Use both location and name here. Note: you can copy-paste entire prepared lists into these blanks, which helps a lot. It should. Sounds like a good idea in order to name your units, and replace them in the same time. Make sure to not forget those names! I use it by announcing all changes there are per month by copy-pasting army overviews into those blank fields. However, there is no official guideline, as you've already noticed... To my knowledge @SkaForHire is the only one with access to this.
  3. I think this whole troop distribution system is sort of a mess. And I'm afraid once there will be more military in BoBS it will blow right up in our faces. Yes, like this. And you'll have to keep track of those troops by yourself - meaning name and current location. It works - I hope - but there is just no way of getting any feedback...
  4. 'The bureaucracy is expanding to meet the needs of the expanding bureaucracy' - Oscar Wilde @Jacob Nion When you first placed your troops using the army location form, you had to give them a name. Now, just do the same thing again - fill out the army location form with the name of your troops, and add a new location... and most importantly: pray to all the Gods that it worked, because there's no feedback or overview so far... Did I hear you scream in agony? Well, now imagine keeping track of all faction troops @kurigan As was said before, for starters all you need to do is to choose a faction - think in what kind of society you'd like to see your sigfig in. Then, you'll be guided through the jungle of BoBS rules, by your faction leaders in terms of faction stuff, and by all here (mostly in this thread) regarding all else... and don't forget the mandatory smack talk
  5. Whoa, this looks indeed pretty cool Can you still use the kitchen?
  6. Does this make it any better? By that logic I could just 'assume' something, put it in a little frequented thread somewhere, and act on it - if nobody calls it it's all good. Then say it was out there all along, if I get called upon later. Doesn't seem fair. Ska wasn't available at the time, nobody else(?) had access to those maps, it stayed under the radar. Now it's out in the open and we try solving it. What's the big deal? All it requires are some words to be changed. Maybe this incidence teaches us to release official maps of all islands in the future.
  7. Is the space pope reptilian?
  8. Again - this is a political move from your side. You can 'claim' all you want. You could even claim Le Bellan to be part of La Sombra - same thing. But it doesn't matter in terms of game mechanics, which are beyond our reach. Well, the distance between these rocks and the Isla de Many Names is clearly smaller, so them belonging to #11 is even more logical But again, this doesn't matter in terms of game mechanics. I hope you do get that the point here - or anywhere in this building community - is not to game the system - not to not get caught. What's the big deal to ask in case of unclear issues, instead of boldly going forward serving only ones own interests. None of us has all the answers, but pointing at an issue that's unclear can lead to someone looking it up - in the interest of all. I have gained access to some maps only a few weeks ago, and I stumbled upon this only now as you mentioned it here. I looked up the map for La Sombra, and voilà - it doesn't include these rocks. Simple as that. As all islands need boundaries for reasons stated earlier, I replied to your post. Same as above. Had this been a royal whatsoever license, someone might have looked that up sooner, but it just hasn't come up. No big deal, just adjust the text, and all is good. You can still claim those rocks, btw, but it won't alter the mechanics - this would require someone repainting those map boundaries - and there's just no reason for that.
  9. Congratulations! Considering it's still a young settlement, you've done a great job here I'm also glad to see you favor walking canes of obviously Oleander origin - splendid decision - only the finest materials are used to produce those highly craved accessories
  10. Those are starting fortresses - all settlements BoBS started out with are equipped with fortresses by default: Nova Terreli - one royal fortress, Bardo, Weelond, Bastion, Arlinsport, Breshaun, Eltina - two large fortresses each. MAR is a different matter... I don't have the numbers in my head, but I'm pretty certain there's a royal fortress in Kings Port. However, the rules on forts will soon be reformed - the fort level limit will disappear (so in theory you will be able to right out start a hamlet with a royal fortress) - the settlement size will only define the total number of forts possible - and... there will be upkeep on forts. Details will follow.
  11. I'm sure you understand that digital MOCs require a higher effort to be eligible for licenses, compared to their real-bricks counterparts here. Using software you are not bound to your 'arsenal' of bricks, so it's only fair to demand a higher quality ship than you could build in the (real) brick. So, no to minimoc + full scale portion = license. Build the whole ship - or wait to win a 'microbuild activation required' license in a challenge. And I - again - would like to ask for renders of digital builds in general. Just consider the effort it takes to produce decent photographs of a real brick MOC - a render is the very minimum regarding presentation one should expect to see. I'm sure there's always someone willing to help out if one cannot come up with renders by oneself.
  12. This is indeed something that seems a little random - or at least unpredictable. No matter how this can be explained IC (the initial three 5A2 were only the first ships assigned to the colonial theater, now MAR has mobilized its main forces, which took time to arrive in the colonies) - the OOC side of this leaves room for improvement... In every conflict PC vs. NPC it should at least be clear at the start what total forces an enemy can field - that's surely info spies would gather - of course, there can be drafts and additional ships will be built, but an economy can only sustain so much. Well, in EGS terms Trador should not be able to profit of it in terms of trade value. You cannot just alter the geography as you please by drawing maps claiming pieces of land without prior consultation. Island layout is defined - each island features unique bonuses/bad points, so there need to be clear borders between islands - regardless of how petty this might appear - and it sort of does Either you redefine this build to be located on La Sombra (rewrite the text), or it is now subject to the Isla de Many Names.
  13. Regardless of your green biased opinion, any build that's being placed there specifically will be subject to all modifiers attached to the Isla de Many Names - not La Sombra's. Therefore, those builds' fate will be decided by whoever is in control of the... *checks map* big yellow island It can still be occupied - to make a strong yellow point Oh, and I hope no Marderian (@SkaForHire) is reading this - while preparing their next move A regiment you say... hmm... and town status allows for a medium fort to be built as maximum... might just be enough of a challenge for L'Olius' battle fleet and the 'Golden Sons'
  14. @Maxim I Claim all you want But geologically speaking, these tiny spots of land are clearly parts of the Isla de Many Names - and its fate will be theirs. You should be glad geologists were merciful enough to grant La Sombra the status of being an island by itself - it might have as well been classified a mere appendix of the Isla de Many Names However, I would refrain from annoying MAR over this petty issue even further, they might come pay you another visit
  15. @Legostone and everyone: New MCRA signup date is Feb. 5th, a map can be found here.
  16. Infos about the next MCRA: Sign up deadline: February 5th We're rolling on a slightly larger map this time - but don't get used to those zones too much, it's all temporary while still running MCRA1 rules. Still enjoyable, right? Click for a HR version. Regarding trade values, they'll be updated once again shortly before Feb. 5th, but you can always check them out yourselves in the current account sheet. Oh, and MAR might still decide to open its ports in the Prio Sea for traders - a decision we're still waiting for. But I doubt at least you ESLs here won't really want to visit those ports Oh, and hold your horses regarding the paperwork - they aren't updated yet to include the new zones. We'll get back to you once that's done. Happy planning!
  17. 199DB for Goldilocks and Tango Kid, 99DB for every of the 3T2.
  18. @Scarst Court matters might better be discussed in the Court first before posting them out in the open If you go live with your ideas for future mechanics others might follow...
  19. I haven't done it myself - yet - but @Capt Wolf recently said somewhere he had put a ship on a predator mission in the settlement's zone (that mission type is a one-zone mission). Should get the job done Your protection ship/fleet should be able to protect all settlements in that zone. Can't deliver details on the mechanics, though, I'm afraid.
  20. Another beautiful creation, Ayrlego I really like the way you depicted the water - can almost hear those waves, and those dark tan bits of rock shining through the water - great details. Apropos great... that's what the vegetation is, too I think I'm gonna steal that palm tree design using two sorts of leaf bricks Great to see you Reddies finally having arrived on Celestia - hope you have an exciting expedition.
  21. Anything I could add that hasn't been said yet or drooled over? No? Then let me continue drooling over this beautiful creation... might help your workers irrigate those fields Great job ... just... leave that frog alone, you workers, please
  22. Nice extra-mile effort, Kwatchi Those MAR don't look too ugly anymore, quite the contrary, well done. These are now uniforms that deserve to be KaBlam'ed Any idea where to 'store' them, so they don't get lost? The Great Pirate Torso Library might be an option, although not a very BoBS-ish one. Totally agree. We are already seeing this, as MOCs are far more valuable than their license. Try buying a property MOC, and I doubt you'll be able to get it for less than double of it's license worth in DB. There's basically no monetary incentive to moc about - if it wasn't for factions needing certain properties, why bother. Get a ship and get rich. Too much money also undermines the need to come up with ideas to raise DB, so a banking system hasn't really arisen as there's just no real need for it, a true gambling hot spot is still to be seen, and... I wonder what other great ideas we could come up with if DB weren't that easy to come by. It seems it's a good thing to have a little war going on for now
  23. Welcome to the Pirate Forum, kr1minal, and ARRRRR, to you, too. That's a pretty little tavern you got there, I really like the sand green/black combination you used Great to hear you want to build more pirate related MOCs. Can never have enough of those If you are interested in creating a lego character to play with, to show your creations in a 'real' piratey world, and have them contribute to many marvelous stories, you might want to check out the Brethren of the Brick Seas - a building community game for all interested in the golden age of piracy - and especially the Pirate faction. If you got any questions, feel free to post them in this thread. Hope to see you around Enjoy the forum, and ARRRRR Best regards, KB
  24. Nope - we are thinking in licenses here. A fort is a fort is a fort. And nothing else is In the end, however, crew value is a deciding factor in combat. So buy some platoons, or license a small warship to guard a settlement - that'll help.
  25. Neat scene, kaiju. And the pictures capture the atmosphere pretty well - no need for a huge MOC to tell a thrilling story. Very well done, indeed Aaaand I've learned something today... sky burial... very interesting concept... *takes notes* I think this might catch on Thanks... and keep it up!
