  1. Yeah, the windscreen is what dictated the size and shape of the ship. I wanted a smaller body (since I don't have much space to display things), but it looks stumpy if I shorten the nose.
  2. I reworked the wing cannons, now they're more stable and look better I'm also updating the Stud.io file, I forgot the add the technic pins that connect the black part of the engines to the white lol SP3I Reworked Wing Cannons by Henchmen4Hire, on Flickr
  3. Thanksssss Yeah, SP3 is my favorite theme, I'm hoping for a contest where we can redesign the sets or create new ones. Speaking of Batman... I'm also reworking that grey ship in my signature, the front is really flimsy and begging for a fix.
  4. Thanksss :] I'm glad the greebles fell into place neatly. I like Stud.io, I can do stuff I couldn't with LDD. Here's the underside without the wedges. Industrial Hoverbike 4 by Henchmen4Hire, on Flickr
  5. After doing some reading on building techniques, I dug up this old model and gave it an update. Mostly I reworked the front half so it's a lot more stable and the ship's silhouette flows better. Also smoothed out the cockpit and made sure the ship was entirely buildable. Features •Retractable landing gear •Adjustable steering wheel •Pivoting cannons (nose area) •Ramp lowers in back and big white panel comes off to expose cargo space. I imagine criminals get hogtied and tossed in there too. The only thing I don't like is how the cannons on the wings look, any suggestions? Space Police 3 Interceptor 1 by Henchmen4Hire, on Flickr Space Police 3 Interceptor 2 by Henchmen4Hire, on Flickr Here's the Stud.io file if anyone wants to judge this ship harshly lol http://www.mediafire.com/file/b12vckuotbnkrpw/SP3_ship.io [UPDATED: New wing cannons]
  6. I like the brutish look of the exposed wrenches, but it looks okay with the signs too: Industrial Hoverbike 3 by Henchmen4Hire, on Flickr
  7. I'm going to say Museum because the theme for it could be anything! Sci Fi museum dedicated to exotic weapons or creatures or plants, whatever lol
  8. Another experiment using parts I've never used before. I used hammers, wrenches, a scuba thing and backpack as an engine, skates, that yellow shield thing in front, chainsaw and zipline tools as some kind of belt-drive, etc. The wedgeplates in back can be removed to service the greeble under the bike. Happy with how it turned out, though I'd have to build it with real bricks to align some of the parts correctly. 9. Thank you, my only fellow space biker
  10. I can see how some people can take that from the MOC. I'm more interested in the head baskets.
  11. I love the set firstly because ROCKET! But also because it looks like a 5 year-old built the insides and then their scientist parent came along and put a clean shell on it to hide all the ugly lol Thanks for sharing, that build looks nuts
  12. I gleaned from this that there are different kinds of modular builders, which unfortunately means there are aesthetic conflicts with the official LEGO sets. If you don't like the way the official sets' buildings look, you'd better have deep pockets to build a city in the aesthetic you want. Anyway, I got that there are: •Builders who like to make every floor of the building distinct. •Builders who like keeping a unified theme for a building. •Builders who like making every floor distinct, but unifying them somehow, like with similar windows, stripes, etc. ("Ugly" isn't the exact word for it, but this is unattractive to me) I'm finding it hard to discuss this without focusing on specific examples, what I think will or won't work for a building varies case to case. But one thing is for sure, there's definitely an "official" aesthetic for the official modular buildings.
  13. That's disappointing to hear, I would think people would be more encouraged to rework sets like this one since the parts all favor making a cool vehicle, as opposed to the Creator models which often have a haphazard appearance. Anyway, I'm enjoying these vehicles, hopefully I can pick up some of these sets when there's a sale.
  14. Took me a second to realize the scale of this :p On a cultural note, isn't it interesting that we find ways to personalize even the most mundane things?
  15. Eggcellent, the doors as seats and moon roof are nice touches lol
  16. For those cop cars, I would get rid of the windshield to lower the roof, it's high enough to be jarring compared to the other cars. Then you could use a lever or hinge or something as struts for the 2 front corners.
  17. Did a random search for Creator sets and stumbled onto Mini Trains. I like it, it's cheap and the suggested models are distinct from each other. So I got to thinking, how do I take these old-timey trains and turn them into something more hi-tech? I went with the obvious answer of course, turn the train into a wireless hydroelectric power station! Hydroelectric Power Station (4837-1 Mini Trains Alt Model) by Henchmen4Hire I hope it's more or less clear how it supposedly works lol. The two metal towers are some kind of generators, the clips could be antennas or a place to lash cables from the generators. Power is stored in the black tanks, which are connected to the, uh, transceiver? and then shot out into the open so devices can use the free wireless energy. 18. Could be an indicator that Creator sets aren't as popular as some people think. Or not. Hard to say. I'm interested in this Q&A though, been considering buying a Creator set, and if some sci-fi ones come out I'm all in. Maybe try asking or suggesting if Creator can be an outlet for original scifi stuff since Star Wars seems to be sucking up all the scifi budget lol
  19. I skimmed the replies: -Do we know for a fact that LEGO doesn't make a dedicated space theme because of Star Wars? That's disappointing, as someone who doesn't like overrated, overpriced Star Wars stuff. The only thing I like is the minifigures, especially the aliens because I like sci-fi in general. -Deciding whether to design the sets for kids or adults Is a moot point because only adults can afford Lego sets anyway. And then you guys are talking about $500 sets? I don't even know any adults who would want to pay that, no matter how cool it is. I don't even know any adults who would buy a $20 set for their kids, they're so expensive for how little physical stuff you get. I understand precision parts are expensive and imagination is priceless and all that fluff, but observation and anecdotal evidence tells me adults don't want to buy LEGO. The only time I see or hear about adults buying LEGO stuff is on forums like this. Sidenote: Star Wars LEGO boxes are the #1 box I see torn open at Walmarts because people steal the minifigs to "re"sell. -I tried one Creator set, it was a small one. I thought, this is dumb, I can't make anything with these pieces. Then a few minutes later I was pumping out all these: https://flic.kr/s/aHsjFjuWna This experience left me thinking we can make lots of cool stuff with almost any handful of LEGO bricks, I think associating Space (or any theme) with that feeling is a good idea. However, is the initial "this is dumb" reaction common? I got over it, but will the majority of people get over that hump to give the set a chance, especially when talking about a $50 set? Are Creator sets even popular? Then if the Creator sets fail, will that make the company even more reluctant to release any more original Space sets? I don't know, lots of things to consider and it's hard to make reasonable guess without real numbers to go off of.
  20. With that stripe pattern, I can't help but think it looks like a big sock lol. I like that texture the ribbed bricks give it. Been seeing a steady trickle of these kind of rocketships, keep em coming everyone!
  21. I like the color schemes, great shapes too. Would really like to see the second one in minifigure scale, that smooth lime shell with a greebly bley butt sounds awesome.
  22. After admiring all the sweet LEGO hover bikes that pop up, I finally got around to making one. Wanted to start this build with a piece I've never used before, so I spun the wheel of destiny and it landed on...a crab. Notes •The thin slots above the rear exhaust can be used to attach a saddlebag •The top of the gas tank (2x2 engine piece) probably bumps into the horse saddle, other than that, 99% of the connections should work. •Not all pieces are available in these colors, I just wanted to explore what I could do with Stud.io. •I replaced two [1x1 round plates] under the Crab with [Roller Skates] for the first image, they look better.
  23. I'm getting hives reading that you guys have never read the comics or watched the recent DREDD movie haha Those sleeker two-finger+thumb hands look better than the 3 or 4-finger hands people usually make for figure MOCs.
  24. I don't know if there's a book somewhere that shows you all the ways to angle pieces (that would be awesome, someone make that ASAP please lol) but... Take a look at all those Technic connectors that people usually ignore. They come in all sorts of angles, just connect them with axles. https://www.bricklink.com/v2/search.page?q=technic+angled&tab=P#T=P Here's another way to create an angled surface, stumbled on it by messing around with pieces today. I imagine you could add/remove plates under the hinge pieces to change the angle, or even move the hinges closer together to get a steep angle. Would be great if there was a place where people posted exactly how they achieved certain shapes and angles, because usually when I ask people how they did something they just tell me to "figure it out" or flat out to buzz off. Please let me know if you find a helpful resource.
  25. Lol, cute idea, would make great impulse buys
