Ford Fiesta WRC

That looks pretty cool, although the roof is a bit strange. Anyway it looks like it's already motorized. -

I personally think the black and red is better as well. -
[MOC] [WIP] Toyota 4Runner

Oh, well in that case it won't be the best off roader, but I wouldn't be discouraged. I've made trucks with diff's before and it's not to bad offroading.- 26 replies

42022 Hot Rod Re-built
unimog123 replied to Lakop's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Yeah, it is intriguing, but not for the usual reasons. I agree, the color scheme is a bit strange, but since I only have blue pieces from the seats of other sets I don't mind a small blue set. Unfortunately though these new sets are not available in the USA until August, which I think is very annoying. -

I really want to get this set and maybe do something similar. Great job with the modification. -

That's true, but it you can compensate for that by placing the shock absorbers closer to the chassis. Since he is using CV joints to transfer drive to the wheels he still won't be limited by the A-arms because the CV joints would not allow any more movement than the A-arms can. So either way there's nothing you can do about that except to use 1 u-joint and 1 CV joint to allow the axle to slide, but still give it good suspension travel.- 26 replies

I know. I meant the double wishbone pieces from sets 8070 and 8297, that have sockets for the ball bearings. This way it becomes shorter than the original setup, allowing more room for the portal hub, so the width doesn't really change.- 26 replies

Well I suppose that could work, but make sure you don't put any pressure on the CV joint because you'll have the same problem I had.

Nice progress! It stinks with the buggy motors, all the friction in the drivetrain makes them practically useless. I had a similar problem a year ago with a little buggy I made with 1 buggy motor and the double wishbones were in the steepest position possible, putting loads of pressure on the CV joints. Because of this I could only drive it for about 5-10 seconds before the friction became too great, it even etched away at the CV joint permanently. Anyway I think the use of those small 12 tooth gears in between the diff and wheel is the cause of friction because of the relatively loose connection the 2L axle. I don't know how to fix such a problem at the moment, but don't give up.

Yeah, you could really use portal axles on this. I would consider changing those long suspension struts to double wishbones, so you would have more room for said portal axles. By doing this you could easily keep the wishbones at the same height as what you have here and put ball bearings on the portal axle.- 26 replies

Old Differential - Two Oddities
unimog123 replied to DrJB's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
That's a bit odd. I did not notice this, but I also don't have 14 tooth gears. -
Nice colors. I like the double pneumatic cylinders as well, but I hope you are going to maintain those pesky hoses that are hanging all over the place. That's the one thing I don't like about pneumatics. Cool trailer though.

I am not sure, but I found it on this forum and it seems technical enough for me. -

Even though this MOC isn't very popular yet (as of today), I think it is one of the most detailed and realistic models out there: Milan's ZIS 5 Truck with AK31 Crane Thread: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=92306 -
Technic Car Collection

I found this on Mocpages a few months ago and it is still one of my favorite MOCs by far. It has utterly no gaps in the bodywork whatsoever. More pictures here: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/374867 -

unimog123 replied to Pat-Ard's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Oh, yeah I kind of get it. The shield keeps the Unimog from pulling itself towards the trunk and allows it to pull the trunk towards itself instead. I always wondered about how vehicles solved that problem. -

This is awesome!! I love the double drum winch, but I'm not sure what the towing shield does or how it works. Also are you going to make a video or some more close up pictures? Great Job! -

Cool idea! I've thought about making a similar vehicle, but never did. Great job! -

Nice job. I like the angles of the cab and I'm surprised that you were able to fit a battery box underneath the dashboard and hood. Can't wait for more progress!
