Today I would like to began my most complex creation to date. A Caterpillar 525 Wheel Skidder: Here is what I have so far: This is the articulated joint. As you can see it has a Unimog ball joint for articulation as well as 2 mini LA's. The plan is that because this is going to be such a large vehicle I'll be using 2 M motors / 1 per LA but as if that weren't good enough, I decided to have an adjustable remote control RWD/4WD system. This transfer case is placed in between the mini LA's to save space for the crane arm motors in the rear. Also the switching will be carried out by another mini LA connected to a changeover catch which in turn will slide on a mounted axle horizontally. One more thing, I thought it was pretty funny how this one module of parts took 2 days to complete and modify, while my previous Trophy Truck model took 2 days to build altogether.

I am probably the only one to say this, but I actually really liked the supercar set 8070, because of it's good looks and functions. I will admit though I would have liked a realistic gearbox like many of 8070's predecessors, but I really liked the motorized functions (scissor doors, opening hood, retractable spoiler. If you think this is not the best set and I do, that is because I have no experience whatsoever with the other supercar models, unfortunately.

Unfortunately I have recently tried to find a way to upload video to my blog, but to do so I would have to pay 60 DOLLARS A YEAR!!!!! Unless it is possible to upload videos without a video upgrade I will not be able to post videos of my creations. I will keep trying though.

I very much agree with thirdwigg. The front loader is not appealing to me and the only good thing about the pickup truck is the red panels, but the prices will then drop on Bricklink so I probably won't get this set either. I am now just looking forward to the Bulldozer since I've never built one before.

I have learned so many things from lego technic since I got my first set about 5 years ago and when I started making my own models about 3 years ago. First of which was patience and the pursuit of perfection or even just satisfaction. Secondly it introduced to me the complexity of mechanisms, not only in lego technic models, but in everyday machines such as cars. And speaking of cars, my interest in mechanisms and moving parts brought me to the world of cars. Every single model I build, I like to think that it increases my chances to become an engineer in the future, building high performance vehicles. Thirdly I learned that even though lego technic models don't have the power or speed really generate certain things like downforce, you still have to account for so many inside and outside forces. Such as weight distribution, power to weight, and efficiency. Even the ground clearance to make sure you don't get stuck on certain things in the outside world. Fourthly and finally I learned about power/torque and speed and how to accomplish the best performance with certain setups, and what to look out for to achieve the best. That's pretty much the basics of what I've learned from lego technic, and I think lego technic is an excellent way to express your interests creatively, and somewhat cheaply compared to other opportunities.

I like it very much! It's stinks you had to use that orange panel on one side. Looks really fun to use.

I think that it was not well designed or even useful to play with. I'm not sure, but it just seemed as though the dumping bed didn't have a tipping panel to let the cargo slide out when you raise it. I don't think I'll be buying this set anytime soon.

I totally agree. It looks like it has a lot of good parts and motors, but the design is decent and I hate the jerky steering! It seems so unrealistic that I'm not sure if I want it or not, and if I did only for the yellow parts and motors.Oh........and unimog wheels of course.

Yeah, this past holiday season (Christmas and my Birthday) I got 2 more rechargeable battery boxes after I bought 1 over the summer and charger of course. So 3 in total.

I never got this set, but your's looks 10x better, and I like all the realistic RC functions. Great job!

Looks great and functions well for an offroader with differentials. I have to say I don't know if you will agree, but I've had my fair share of offroaders, with diff's and without and I think that it is more functional with diff's and still performs pretty well. Also I think that this model is very unique, but I think it would look a bit better if it was just 4x4, cause the wheel well in orange in the middle of the body, just isn't doing it for me. I am looking forward to see what's next. P.S. Have you thought off posting W.I.P.'s here as well, I'm sure many people would want to see the inner workings of your models as you're constructing them?

Thanks. About the battery boxes, I thought a seat would look good placed in between the internal rollcage since it would have been much harder to secure a battery box there instead. So I had 2 rechargeable batteries lying around and therefore I could put one on either side of the seat in the cab for more power,(1 battery for L motors/ 1 battery for servo and lights), and better balance and weight distribution.
