Isn't the 42106 enough for you!? -

Maybe one of them was intended for last year, but both found complications requiring the contingency plan of launching a recolour of a previous set? -
But aren't those resistors' values and the pins they're connected to meant to identify the kind of peripheral and thus how the hub handles it?

Hmm, that's an interesting concept: several gamepads, controlling several models, all using a single phone/tablet.- 1,316 replies

The correct expression seems to be "OK boomer". But really, PF is still plentiful and for sale (the 42095 hasn't been discontinued yet, I think), so why not use it? -

I don't remember where in the build bag #4 is, but I remember those pieces being used to hold in place the silver rigid hoses to the sides of the car. -

My gut tells me it's more of a coincidence. -
Yeah, the parts (and the set's design) aren't very good, but they have some ideas I wish LEGO would also implement, like beams with a pin at each end, and beams with holes rotated 90º in relation to each other (like what you'd get if you cut a Technic frame).

Indeed. But note that the motors aren't guaranteed to have the same behaviour as those form LEGO, especially the servo: apparently it has only 3 positions (full left, centre, full right) instead of the many of the official part.

That's one of the reasons those brands are cheaper than LEGO.

I can confirm that both the Alcatel Pop C7 and the LG G2 work with BC2, SBrick and Control+. I didn't have any PF receiver on hand, and don't have BuWizz at all. https://youtu.be/C914fWfBIG8- 1,316 replies

Given the model's size and the fact that all axles are steered, I'm not expecting a drivetrain. -

I have just tested BC2 on the G2 with a PUp (a.k.a. "Train") hub with a train motor attached, and it worked well. The official PUp app also works without problems, including updating the hub's firmware. I'm quite happy with this phone's purchase, as for its age it's very zippy and surprisingly there's a modern Android version for it, plus it has IR for the "old" Power Functions. Its big downside is definitely the non-expandable storage.- 1,316 replies

I have for LEGO purposes an Alcatel Pop C7 (updated to unofficial Android 4.4.2) and an LG G2 (running LineageOS 16 - Android 9), and both are able to run BC2. I haven't tested actually connecting to a brick using the latest app version, though, but I don't expect any trouble.- 1,316 replies

Or a third-party app like BrickController 2 or BuWizz. -

Did you turn location on before scanning? For some obtuse reason, Android considers Bluetooth discovery as "location".- 1,316 replies

That's also how I see the 42097 (pity it doesn't have proper tread sprockets), and personally I don't see anything wrong with that. But I understand that for set builders these two are far less than ideal. -

One of the first mods that I'll be certain to see pop up is to link the front and rear outriggers. -

Yes, and in the process making an attempt at humour based on the two meanings of the word "spoiler". -

Or a semi truck with a dumping trailer (imagine a decent version of the 8052-B). There are definitely enough wheels in the set for that. -

On the bright side, it should be nice as a parts pack, with the yellow panels, the wheels, and the XL LA. It's the same situation as with the 42097. -

How do you know that? I don't see any reason for sets to not include the "dumb" battery box (which will come out in the future) and a motor to power a multiplexing mechanism as has been done with the PF (and 9V) generation.
