  1. But, that is just the same with the real trucks. Those that are used on build sites have the large gaps because they need to go a little offroad. Trucks that are only used on streets don't have such a huge gap, because they do not need so much wheel travel.
  2. Can't say because of flashlight flare. The front grill looks very authentic though.
  3. Yes I am Seriously, I feel like an megablocks for teasing, but it is so much fun It better should be. Impossible to tell. I guess it's similar to 8258 in length. If proportional to the real thing, probably a bit less.
  4. Like I said, the pictures leave a lot to think and guess about. Also, descriptions so far sum it up very well. From all I read about the new sets, compared to the pictures, the descriptions on Technicbricks.com sound to be the most accurate. There is no way yet to say if this model will have: - double wheels on the two rear axles - suspension - tipping function of the bed What can be taken as a fact: - 4 axles, 2 steered - It's a Mercedes :D - crane with clamshells and pneumatics
  5. Also, I am a sadistic bastard and like to see you all suffer from curiosity
  6. Aww man, but I promised edit: In all seriousness: The descriptions that have been made so far by various sources are maybe more valuable than the actual preliminary pictures. They are low-res, super blurry and details are hardly visible at all. The only good thing is, that you get a rough first impression and I think, that both the crane and the truck are going to be super! But also, as 42039 has shown, we should not get our hopes too high. Even with 42009, a lot of minor (but visible) changes happened between Nuremberg toyfair and the actual released set.
  7. *cough* there ARE prelim. images *cough*
  8. HA! I was just about to rant about apple and stupid software patents and even more stupid connection interfaces while everybody else uses micro USB. But Sariel obviously beat me to that. Even if Apple really produces such an action camera, it will most likely be not as good as other cameras, will be much more expensive, will be praised into heavens about how good it is and people will stand in lines to get one. But also, it will have to compete with an established market.
  9. I would consider this more as some kind of "proof of concept".
  10. I believe I read some long time ago about someone doing exactly this. But, if I remember correctly, it didn't work very well with the original gearing, because the gear reduction was completely wrong.
  11. Very ambitious. I like the back. That will be a big challenge to sculpt. Good luck!
  12. Pretty awesome. Though, a manual display model might be interesting as well.
  13. They seem pretty powerful. I like it.
  14. Haha, that's just awesome. Well done :D
  15. Just out of curiosity: Are you building a collection of various 42009 models?
  16. I would guess, that the steering arm will touch the thin 3L beam when steering to the left. This might not be a problem with low steering angles, but it still isn't very elegant. It would probably work better if you make the steeing hub with 4L thin beams somehow and use a axle pin on the longer end. That way it wouldn't touch and probably work better.
  17. Since everything goes into my building cycle again, sooner or later, I too disassemble most stuff. MOCs I have built: Nathanael Kuipers: Sportscar Supercar Crowkillers: Supercar Deluxe 2 Porsche 997 Vampire GT Black Phantasm Twin Turbo Arthra08: MB Trac Lipko: Red Coupé Sheepo: Shelby Mustang GT500 Nico71: CVT Trophy Truck, but without CVT, instead with manual transmission and fake engine ZBLJ: Mini Tumbler MrTekneex: 42009 C-model Grohl: 9394 C-model helicopter There are still quite a few MOCs I want to build. Some in modded variants, other as they should be.
  18. I wonder how a brick-built version will perform. Because all rear wheels are powered by an M motor for each wheel. And both fron wheels together will have a single L motor. And both kinds of drive have additional different reduction. Without applying some math, that already sounds like it will cause problems. But it looks pretty good already. Perhaps you might want to re-work some sections for more sturdiness and re-inforce the axles for the turret.
  19. I'd start of with 8070. At least that's what I did a few years ago.
  20. Looks good so far. But I too think that the cabin should be taller.
  21. I usually try to build all the B-models of the sets I purchase. Here is a list of models and what I liked about it: 42009 - somewhat more playable than the crane and you get two vehicles which interact nicely. The functions were smooth and the models really sturdy. 42028 - I somehow like the B-model more than the A-model. Not because it is a trench digger, but it looks somewhat russian or a tracked tractor. 9396 - this was special because of the intermeshing rotors and it had a cool shape. 9393 - this buggy was really cool. Not exactly a new combination of a tractor A-model and a buggy as B-model, but it was a fun car and it had the brickbuilt piston engine. 8070 - In fact this was the first real B-model I built. And it doesn't have to stand back behind the main model. In fact, it's even a little cooler.
