Why don't you just ask the creator? There is a comments section below the blogpost. You can ask there. -

Hm, you are probably right about the play. -

This just wouldn't get off my mind. What about something like this instead of a pure slide: -

Hadn't paid much attention to the progress of this creation. It's a very cool machine. Well done I am not so sure if I like the sliding mechanism, but it seems to work well enough. On the other hand, I have no good idea how to fit something else in this small space. I guess the tilt of the lift results from general play in the slider?? -

Usually, trucks that have a clear purpose of off-road use usually have single wheels on all axles. But afaik that is the only exception apart from liftable axle or steerable axle.

Well, I guess it has a gearbox to power various drums for raising/lowering of the boom, raise/lower hook and perhaps something else. Raisable cabin?

Wow, this is so cool If you scale it up a little, you could even let some minifigs take a spin! -
Wow, dokludi did it again. Awesome work. Looks nearly exactly like the picture. Still can't wait for proper footage. Then we'll see how accurate his version is. Also, I'd like it already like he built it.

I wouldn't overjudge this too much. Just think of 42039 where the preliminary image got lots of praise and they changed the whole look of the set. After much staring, I am currently 95% convinced that it has twin wheels on the rear axles.

Not necessarily the best set of all times, but it will probably take over the crown in several categories. RIP 8258
