Lego Technic 2h 2013
Balrog replied to sama's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I'd love to go to the toy fair. Nuremberg isn't even that far away. But, I have to be at work, so no chance on that. And I won't go there on the weekend.- 902 replies

That is a brilliant use for the "Air Tech Claw Rig" mechanism. -
Best B-Models of Technic Sets?
Balrog replied to Kumbbl's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I really liked the 8070 B-model. Though it has less motorized functions it has really good looks. Only downturn is, that if you press the suspension, the model hits the ground. But, you will get two extra 3x5 L-beams just for the B-model. -

I wish this was a set. I'd certainly buy it! It would be even better, if it had RC. But I like it the way it is. -

I know ... I think Lego should finally produce some good RC equipment. It shouldn't be that hard to make a good Lego-style remote and a small receiver. A antenna can be routed through a model/MOC as desired and still give a decent radio range. -

The Pampers-Saurus approaches ... bwahaha :) I bet, some of your IR issues result from all that snow, because it randomly scatters the IR signal + all the daylight (though it looks like dusk) interfers more through the snow. -
This is really a cool model worth buying. Just one question: Can you give us the partcount?

Technically, I have to say it is an ingenious construction. Very clever use of the portal hubs. And a very clever type of suspension. Consider this stolen, once I can lay my hand on some tracks. And time. -

Since I have no idea how you built it, I cannot judge on that. -

Though, it is slow, it has a good turning speed. I would say you need to exchange some gears -
Toyota Celica RA21

Ah well, ok. I was misguided. When looking at these pictures I see it, too. I just didn't have the look of the old Celica in mind. -

Neat car. But it looks more like a Dodge Charger or something like that. -

Did you use smooth axle connectors for the red driving rings? -
In the end, the design is totally your thing and: It must be pleasing you. Not me. It's just some ideas that I think might make it better.

I like the overall design of the GoKart. But, I have to criticise 2 things. 1. The wheels seem too small. My guess is, you chose these wheels to have low ground clearance. But, bigger wheels will look better probably. 2. The steering wheel is too small, too. And the style is somewhat strange. It isn't as nice as the rest of the model.

Oh the irony. I don't want to offend you andythenorth, but look in the mirror to see who is whining right now. Of course people will whine around models or parts. But that will happen everywhere with everything. We are too spoiled. "Oh look, we got another yellow tracked vehicle with a arm that is operated by LAs. Woohoo crap model just the same but a bit different." Oh well I don't like that stuff, too. And now see me. I am whining about you whining about others whining. A vicious circle.

I made a steal on this set at the start of december. Amazon had it for roughly a bit more than 80€ and I "accidently" purchased it, when they gave an additional 20% off of ALL Lego, even on already reduced sets. If I had only realized that earlier. And I think it is an awesome set. Especially, if you take into account what I paid for it. It is a fun build and has a pretty good B-Model as well. Though I am already crying over having missed out a good opportunity to get 8043 2 months ago. That would have been awesome. I could have gotten it for 100€. But then again, I managed to get 8111 for a very good price.

efferman: just out of curiosity ... can you give a semi-precise answer about where you live? I am just interested. Perhaps it is around the corner
