I return to the Hall, noticing something...off. As if I was in a different dimension than when I left, and different even from the dimensions I might have been in during parts of the quest. I look around to find Hybros, Nyx, and Guts. "Master Holla, I believe you wanted this:" I hand the Growshroom Cap to Guts. "And Miss Nyx, these are yours:" I set the Chef's Apron, Doomshroom Cap, Oneupshroom Cap, Mead, Smelling Salts, Nostrum, and one Phoenix Essence on the table in front of Nyx.

SoNE Contest Episode I: Shadows of Nar Eurbrikka
Brickdoctor replied to Brickdoctor's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
Reminder: There's one week left to get entries in for Shadows of Nar Eurbrikka Episode I. -
Could you give some more information on the ship, what its purpose is, who its owners are, etc.? Is this something related to Star Wars? (Otherwise you'd probably get better names if I moved it to Sci-fi.)

With the imminent addition of new bloggers, one step that we agreed we needed to take was to find a Rebel Blog Master to help keep the blog running smoothly. Lobot's been doing a great job blogging lately, and he's agreed to help us with that. Congratulations, Lobot, Rebel Blog Master!

Heroica RPG - Cruel Angel's Thesis ~ Day Five
Brickdoctor replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
Look at these attackers who could use ranged attacks who suddenly are attacking in public to look more townie-ish when they attack me. So Maxi was innocent...no idea what's going on there. I don't know what Maxi is trying to pull off, but I've already given Day's worth of arguments against him and Fleyra, so I'll refrain from reposting those. Swinehurst (and Theodor and Kharybdis) already have formulated and set in motion a plan to kill me and revive me later once my innocence is proven. Carry on. I do nothing.- 186 replies

[LDD MOC]Zenith - Old Republic escort cruiser
Brickdoctor replied to Bob De Quatre's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I definitely see the inspiration from the Hammerhead-class from KotOR, and a bit of the Nebulon-B at the stern ventral area. The way you've used the curves also remind me of the style of ships shown in drawn comics, for one reason or another. Altogether, a very Old Republic-esque feel makes it look plausible as a canon ship. Lots of greebles, plenty of more complex curves and angles, excellent work with the arrangement of the colors, and most of you probably know that I love seeing SNOTed bricks instead of plates anywhere possible.- 88 replies

[SoNE Free Build] A Brother's Work is Never Done
Brickdoctor replied to MKJoshA's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
Ah, yes, the Corellian Trilogy. Good books, and they've created a lot of EU material. Fair point; I have no problem with buildings being painted blue or built using blue materials. It looks like the white is the intended painted color, so if the blue is weathering exposing some sort of building material that's blue, I'd definitely like to see it less squarish, more organically shaped. It's also the blue-white combo that I think has contrast that makes the color of the blue stand out, and maybe something like blue and light grey/bley would be better. -
Heroica RPG - Quest #77: Your Elves are Better than Ours
Brickdoctor replied to Brickdoctor's topic in The Heroica Archive
*sigh* "Fine. But if you take any longer, I'll come in after you myself." The innkeeper nods in the direction of her loaded crossbow and indicates with a finger towards a room. You calculate that you'll have enough time for two quick actions before your time is up. "But a live Pongcanis can howl quite loudly even during a battle. I do not support this action. "We do not have a key to that warehouse. We tried accessing all three in deciding on a spot to camp. It looks like the Pongcanae either can't get in either or are uninterested in whatever might be in it. However, I've heard that there are magical keys which can open any door." Poking around, you find no key. QM Note:No problem. I apologize for the pace; I had hoped to be past this point in the quest by now, but the lack of regular internet access for a month really threw things off. "It's not so much 'military assistance' as it is a show of good faith in helping protect part of the village. But, yes, that is a fair summary." "Indeed. Let us prepare then for battle. Sir Isaac, where can these Pongcanae be found?" "Both my men and Duke Bârbêthân's knights have seen them around the richer homes in the easter area of the village. Heroes, I assume we can count on your assistance, therefore I think it is only right that you have a voice in deciding the course of action. Keep in mind that the resistance can probably get you into any of the residential buildings and the markets." "And the elves can scout ahead to track and bring back information." -
I guess my main complaint would be the equipment and XP. We knew this would be a roleplaying quest, but there were barely any battles, no XP awarded outside of battle, then the one artifact I had that could improve that is the one that I'm forced to unequip — I don't think players should ever be forced to give up all or part of their equipment or inventory — and then at the end of the quest we didn't even get to keep the amulets. There's also the fact that we were continually told that "Guffy 2 is coming" and then only nearing the end of Sandy's big quest did we find out that you wouldn't start that quest until Sandy's was over, which meant that in addition to gaining little XP during this quest, we also sat around in the Hall for a significant amount of time — enough time to go on said Sandy quest. A lot of the battles also felt like the enemies were tailored to neutralize our abilities instead of having stats that would force us to strategize with our abilities, balancing the battles by making us depend more on good rolls rather than by making us strategize well. But there was a good amount of loot, so it wasn't a complete loss on the loot and XP front. I know JimB won't be complaining about his Cloak nor I about the Adamantite nor Pandy about all the Gold; Scuba didn't gain a lot, though. The rest of the quest...oh, wait, I don't care about anything else. Story was good. It did feel kind of repetitive when we did the same thing over and over and didn't have a lot of pictures.

[SoNE Free Build] A Brother's Work is Never Done
Brickdoctor replied to MKJoshA's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
Those are cases where the other colors represent weathering or natural color variation in building material, though. If it was something like a tan building (as on Tatooine) with some light bley/grey bits and some brown bits, then that would look realistic. The blue on white just looks kind of random. For the white wall, I'd go with light bley/grey, maybe some sand green, and maybe try to make it look more organic that 1x4 and 2x4 chunks. -

I do like how you've added some detail to the swoop while maintaing continuity with your previous MOC by showing the greebles as something that comes up under a pop-up panel. I think you could've gone with something in the storyline like 'upgrading the swoop' instead of 'fixing the swoop' in order to storyline-wise justify improving the swoop MOC further. I do agree that some more random parts and tools strewn around would be nice. The one thing that truly bugs me, though, is the random blue bits in the white walls; that seems kind of strange. -

I request that you stop avoiding some of the counterarguments against you and start thinking logically before you post. Right now you are not helping Heroica with your scummy arguments and many wishy-washy posts. -
Interesting, the Cloak of the Red Assassin also includes Wizard Hat Dye in red. I like the new Hybros.

She investigated you in order to appear to clear you, of course! Investigations get shown in the conclusion. It's also noted how you conveniently avoid mentioning the possible motives for the situation in which you're both scum. -
Heroica RPG - Cruel Angel's Thesis ~ Day Four

Ah, yes. It's funny how convenient it is, that Maxi barely speaks at all and you are as wishy-washy as can be, then you make pacts with each other in private without doing any research related to the game situation, you 'clear' each other, and now you come out claiming a scum result on the hero who's been pointing out how scummy you are for the past couple Days. And oh, look, Mr. Wishy-Washy thinks Scamander is scum now, too, and Maxi is too scared and sheepish too bring out his result himself.
