Technicopedia
legolijntje replied to Blakbird's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I made a small website (localhost) with how I think Technicopedia could look. I had nothing to do (waiting for a Bricklink order to finish my moc, finally) and I wanted to get some more experience with web-developing in aspx (I'm certainly not a professional ) I made a screencapture of it, which you can view here. Remember, I only made a few pages and I saw that I haven't linked all images correctly (only read the following if you're interested or you have totally nothing to do ): My design thoughts: I went for a black theme with red accents, but all the sets have a other color. E.g a yellow set has yellow accents, a black set has black accents, a blue set has blue accents... Every set page has a little sub-naviagation that stays on the screen when you scroll (it's not working perfect yet). This is based on a framework, so I want to edit the css some more to make it look less like other sites with the same framework. My code thoughts: I've never used the bootstrap framework, so I thought this was a nice oppurtunity to try it out. The bootstrap framework is fluid, so the site works on all (inlcuding tablets and phones) screens, it will adapt and if neccesary, change itself to show correctly and nice. I'm not using the newest jquery, because the lightbox wasn't working with the newer one, I have to search an other lightbox plugin. I went for .aspx pages, because I really like the masterpage function, and because I can add coding in it if needed (but I have to learn it first, luckily, I have a friend who knows everything bout visual basic). What do you think about it? EDIT: it seems I forgot to say that I forgot to insert the logo... -
Well, I wasn't talking about the lower level, I was talking about the front in general, but mostly the upper part. I think the easiest way to explain is to let you count the little thingies at the wedge of the roof (the 1x1 round tiles in your model). You'll se that every compartment on the front has 8 of them, while the side compartments have 7. But it looks good as it is now, I know the hassle and frustration (both digital and real), when I find out I have to dissasmble half a moc to move some parts (it happened to me today again, luckily the moc is almost finished, I'm only waiting for a Bricklink order)
-
That looks very, very good. I have only 1 tip: if you look at the photos, you can see that the front compartiments (2 windows between to pillars) are wider than the ones on the side. I woulc recoommend to widen the front ones 1 stud on both sides (the windows should be kept the same size). If it's not clear what I mean, it's not your fault Oh, btw, do you plan to add a little bit of street in the model, like the modular buildings?
-
Oh, I forgot to mention that the model I created was brand new too (so not from a previous version) I found another bug. Or at least, there is a bug, but I can't find exactly what the problem is. It has something to do with the alternative UI and mirror building (and maybe also color selecting while having the brick already selected). It isn't working very good. You should try it yourself to see what I mean

Well, I just installed SR3D Builder on a complete new clean Windows 7, so I assume I have the newest version of the parts. To check, how can I download the newest parts? Or do you just mean the newest normal LDraw parts? And thanks for the tip about group selecting, I haven't got really into groups yet (but I like the idea very much).

There's the crawler loader and a totally FAILED car.... That's because I have an Piaggio Ape sitting here for almost 2 years unfinished. Luckily, it's finally almost finished. In that 2 years, I was also working on some other things. I have a WIP supercar, aa Amphibex (but that thing is probably going to be taken apart, it doesn't work) and some other small things that never saw daylight... But, yes, you're right, I haven't been finishing much last time... That will all change this year, because I stared this year with the thought "Build more, think less" Oh, back on topic. I made some photos of my setup (I'm cleaning things at the moment, so it's a bit of a mess): Not on the photos: a cupboard with a large box unsorted stuff, many useless pieces, baseplates, instructions and some old Technic sets like 852. Also a displaycase with some Chima, Discovery and Technic sets isn't on the photos. Work area by legolijntje, on Flickr Work area by legolijntje, on Flickr More photos on my Flickr

Some things I would like to have fixed/added in a new version of SR3D Builder: Important/very very useful: I can't use the animation console if a motor is attached to an axle. So, if I want to "play" with a model, I have to remove the motors. Please add some code to ignore the motor, or (for a future release?? add support for motors in the animation console. At least a little fix in the meantime would be very appreciated. (i've only tested this with PF motors) Would be nice: If I use a selector (except the single brick one) to select multiple bricks, the PF battery box isn't selected as 1 part. I always have to manually add the sides and the button. EDIT: it seems this doesn't work is for other multiparts too (some do work, some don't). Since the last update, the "page up" and "page down" keyboard buttons will lower or higer the part with 1 brick instead of 1/3 brick (like last versions). Could you add an option to change this? Something I want for a long time now, is a selector to select ALL parts in the model (something like CTRL+A in Word). There is such a dropdown menu to select the type of building you're building (so the parts assortment will change). It would be nice if one can make a customized list with what which categories should be shown in the toolbox. Anyway, thanks for the already great and powerful program

I have 4 of the ones with the big drawers and something like 10 of the small drawer version. I do like the big drawer version very much. At least with my setup. Since I'm a Technic builder, I have a s**tload of beams and pins, so I put beams and pins in the big drawers. The beams, because I have a lot of them and they don't fit in the small drawers. The pins, because the big ones are easy accesible (and as a technic builder, I use A LOT of pins) and because, again, I have a lot of them. Sorry for the messy post

Congrats! I take this opportunity to announce my 1000th post on EuroBricks too! Of course I need to add something to the discussion: I think the Chima Speedorz idea is very good on paper, but in real life... I've fallen in love with the normal sets, though. So, no problems there!

Mini Unimog

Very nice -
If you uploaded the picture somewhere else, there shouldn't be any limitation to the amount of pictures. If you got some kind of warning that you are not allowed to post this image, it's probably due to the size. Images here on EuroBricks may not be larger than 800x600, but a little smaller would be better. Of course, you may link the smaller picture to the big one Here is a nice little tutorial that explains how to resize pictures (the basic way)

Creating instructions in Ldraw
legolijntje replied to Erik Leppen's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I thought I had a combined part in my sr3d builder (on my pre-reinstalled pc, I'll have to take a look in the backup) -
Are you sure about Helvetica? When I try Helvetica, my numbers look different than the ones on Lego boxes, and even (especially the 1) different from the ones of your example picture
-
I have 92,7% of the parts (missing 202 parts). I'm mostly missing some panels and other normal parts. I'm wondering, why does the model uses 2 lime panels

I would like to build models too again (and update the index), but all my files are still in my backup and I haven't had time to extract them But I should have plenty of time in the next days, so then I can update the index and start building models again

Tow Truck XL
legolijntje replied to dikkie klijn's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Well, keep in mind that dikkie klijn made the actual model, and that blakbird is creating a digital copy of it -
It probably needs to be checked by the administrator on Rebrickable before it gets online

A Legends of Chima rcb? -
I think it is better to use LDview to export ldraw files to pov-ray files, because LDview has the option to make "smooth curves".

There are many pictures of already known sets at the toyark.com link.
