  1. And ranting and criticizing is totally acceptable. I think insulting fellow users isn’t. Yes this is an adult site, but insulting people isn’t very grown up for this site. Now while I agree there do seem to be a ton of police sets, they’re fairly well made. The various sub themes are fun and cool as well. I do wish there were more storefronts, but that’s why we have modulars as well.
  2. Come on, no need for the language. And yes, this is a money making scheme because lego is a business and their goal is to make money. Everything goes in cycles with their themes as well.
  3. Absolutely because they're easier and safer to sell like that. A random explorers theme without a story like Adventurers seems odd as a normal theme. Throwing it into City, like how they did for Arctic from the last year or whenever it was. It makes sense as city as an extension of say a school or lab or something based out of the city. If it was something like Arctic from the 90s or early 200s, then yeah, that should be its own theme.
  4. Quest Idea Proposal: A Merging of Times Four heroes: Jacob the Spaceman, Alaric the knight, Bentley the adventurer, and Christy the townsperson come together thanks to a magical orb that has called them to defeat the evil Nogel. Their quest takes them on an adventure through their respective times to keep Nogel from destroying the fabric of Brickdom forever. Rules: I would be using the proficiency system that’s been floated earlier. Weapons/Armor would use the trifecta system we’ve discussed, and actions would come from the dice pool. I will say some proficiencies would work to help boost weapon and armor defenses for the pool. A character could o my use a weapon type of they’ve spec into it. Something I want to add would be a stat that could be leveled up to give a boost to failures. If a player chooses, it would allow a player to use a free positive dice to a roll (chosen pre-roll) to make a failure turn to a win. This stat would not reset, even if a character “levels up” until the entire quest has ended. Players could then state if they are worried about a roll before it happens if they will use it. If it’s positive, the point is not used. The stat points could be used to add up as well. Items would not be as powerful as Heroica’s. I’m thinking like a weaker potion, ether, etc. Which leads me to magical abilities. These would fall under the trifecta of weapons for attacks. But other than that, magic things (like illusions, and other non combat abilities, like tech and even non magical abilities) take Action points, which can be leveled up and replenished by items. An action requires a dice roll and automatically takes up however many action points required, even if the action fails. weapons and ranges are something I am concerned about. I think having Close and Ranged works. Close would have 100% chance hitting close and 50% hitting back row. Same for vice versa. Magical weapons work 100%on the opposite row, and 50% on the same row% of the targeted enemy. Thoughts, anyone?
  5. I saw it in theatres. It was... something... So since I've been traveling for work, I've had no time to do anything, be it write for EB/Heroica, write for personal/professional development/enjoyment, build sets/mocs, breathe, eat, etc. So finally today I got back home (for a few days) and bought a few sets to reward myself (3/4 were Ninjago). And there's some great minifigure pieces for a sci-fantasy idea, such as the NV goggles from 70638 Katana V11. From various sets, parts, etc., just a throwaway idea for a one-off quest would be similar to the time traveler idea Faladrin threw out (especially since playtesting ideas is important right now), would be of a magic device gathering people from various backgrounds for a single quest. Say a space person, a knight-like figure, a monster, and a regular "real world" person. They could then choose what proficiencies/abilities they would like for the quest, knowing just the synopsis and then deal with the effects/consequences as the quest goes on.
  6. The sea seems to be your life, both in the real world and in LEGO. Congrats on the new home, safe work travels, and excited to see your next build.
  7. I want to say that is a fantastic build, @Captain Genaro. Great work as always.
  8. Minifigures are horizontally challenged in that case...
  9. Wow! That is beautiful! There is just so much detail in this! Do the walls come out by hinges?
  10. Emile brought the Quiver back with him to The Order of The Faith, allowing them to build a great temple, incorporating the Quiver, and the mythological Huntress from whom Emile's contact had taken her name, into their own faith. The Temple was erected quickly, and Order members arrived to preach to the masses. There was one condition though from the Huntress: If Oleon was to keep the Quiver, it had to be available for study. Emile agreed, but spoke to Hollande about it. After some thought, it was approved that behind the great statue and altar for the Quiver, there was to be an annex to allow the Quiver to be studied if not on display. Emile found this reasonable. Atwi elders could come and see the relic and speak of its legend on the island, while also allowing the Quiver to be kept safe in the hands of the RNTC. In addition, the Huntress seemed to be satisfied, at least that's what Emile saw. Hopefully he was right.
  11. Very nice! Those arches are perfect, and I love the photography in all of them.
  12. There also were the Star Wars Episode III sets with the light up figures and then later released with normal ones.
  13. That bird is great! I'd love to see one with wings spread. Maybe white flame pieces?
  14. Finally you got it town. And yes, Kyle is mad haha. Now I'm mad at you Hinckley.
  15. LEGO's instructions are free on their website. You were most likely looking at a third-party MOCer who wanted to sell his designs.
  16. I think the reason there are few MOCs there is because they probably gain more traction in the subforums that would fit the MOCs respective themes. I wouldn't post a Brethren of the Brick Seas MOC in the LDD subforum, and I wouldn't put a generic castle in there as well. Just my opinion.
  17. I have to say, as someone who loves LEGO and Playmobil, there is some LEGO can learn, like traditional historical/fantasy themes can sell. I'm not ashamed to admit a friend of mine and I played with Playmobil (mainly to complete a mulit-year long story we had going) well into our high school years. And we played (honestly, I still play with it, and if I roped him into it, my buddy would too) with LEGO about a year longer. For us, Playmobil had the durability to play outside, and it's easily constructible buildings with specific plans were great for waves of enemies and battles. While LEGO provided large scale battles that didn't constitute waves (as well as forces of everything from knights to Star Wars), Playmobil gave us the option to bring buckets of it to each other (mainly because I was the only person on the block with any) and play. As for the historical stuff, as Playmobil became more historical, the more I enjoyed it. I love history. I loved the Union vs Confederate sets they had. One of my favorite sets still is a Roman battlepack I had. I still remember the first Playmobil guys I got were a knight and a firefighter. I still remember my first "real" LEGO set that wasn't Duplo was 6013 Samurai Swordsman. Playmobil has knocked it out of the park with their sets with historical, fantasy, pirates, and TSA (yes look it up) figures. LEGO could learn a lot from that, at least if they analyze Playmobil's market trends. But a Playmobil movie? That's a cashgrab that will fail. It's already got terible reviews. It's also not as versatile as LEGO. Still, I fall into the mindset that they are separate toys for different things.
  18. If anything, it makes me realize just how long EB has been around.
  19. Well first of all how dare you. Can we play Life during Mafia?
  20. If I can add, I know people working on the show and if anyone wants me to put in a good word to casting, let me know.
  21. Heroica MOCs probably would go under the Game Forum, or under History.
  22. Www.Brickset.com has most of the answers you'll ever need for stuff like this.
  23. Half his odd explanation, half how he's seeming to conduct himself. I thought I was just playing it off.
  24. Vote: McCoy (Umbra-Mantis) I've stated my reasons as such. Part of me wonders if Mallory might be town now, with just how hard of a vote he is pushing for me, Kyle. If he's scum, it's a crazy move, because if I'm voted off and turn up town, it's a massive target pn his back. And with two of the known crew being Romulans, and going into Day 3 with two dead starfleet, that doesn't look good for scum. Not saying this clears him, but it's a thought I've had.
  25. Great work! As others have mentioned Nexo Knights, this really seems like a great 80s/90s feel of them.
