KotZ replied to Another Brick In The Wall's topic in LEGO Pirates
Well, looks like I need to buy another shelf or table for this set... -
Hi Viper Knight. Sadly, Heroica has ended. BUT if you want to help throw ideas around for a possible Heroica 2.0, join the below discussion.

Wild West - Trains, Town, Military and mini-figures
KotZ replied to Murdoch17's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I would suggest some tents or something for the army forces to sleep in. I think that would help fill it out. And those cacti look great.- 109 replies

My buddy had the Troll Warship. There was a lot of fun that happened with our minifugres taking that ship.

Wow it's been a long time since I've given an update. Since my last update, the roof on the first section has begun to take shape thanks to an order of PaB online. Unfortunately I haven't grabbed any pics of it and the roof is nowhere near close to done. I need to order more parts and figure out exactly how high I want it to go. On the bright side, my last run to my local store and PaB wall have gone very successfully and I've started the western portion of the castle, the first section on a 32x32 baseplate. I actually got really far with what was ordered online and what was found in store. As you can see, the multicolored supports are taking shape. By that dark green 2x4 I've placed a 1x2 technic brick (not shown) to connect via pin to the first section. Sadly, my table I've bought is 4 inches too short on each side, so I need to go to the hardware store and get some plywood or planks to measure out. This will also fix the problem of the table warping, as it's sinking down under the weight (even on the edges) of the castle, and the baseplates aren't flush at times. Here is the farthest I've gotten. There will be a tower on the corner with a ladder to get up to the next level to stand guard. Where the rugby player is (for measuring minifigure height) will be a blacksmith.

I really enjoyed the Fantasy line and have a good amount of them, as does my brother. He mainly stuck with the skeletons while I went with the humans and orcs. The colors for humans were great, and it was just mature enough to fit in with the other themes from around that time. It wasn't silly like the first year of KK2: Jellybean Boogaloo. The next two years of KK2 got a little darker, both in colorscheme and set design. Kingdoms was a bit too bright, as was the 2013 line. That being said, the bad guys for Kingdoms had a great colorscheme. Green and yellow that was muted just right. Swap out some faces and you've got some good guys. I personally kept them with Helm's Deep as they seemed to really fit that set when you remove all of the flesh pieces in that set. MMV is one of my favorite sets of all time, and I would love for more sets like it and the 2013 "town" sets. 2013 Castle, as mentioned before, suffered from being too bright, but at least the Lion knights fit in really well with the Fantasy Crown knights, even if their colors are a bit brighter. The red dragon knights for that line (also first big molded dragon since 2007, something I had never had until 2013 aside from the green one) were a bit too cartoonish for me, but they served my purposes as marauders (I somehow have three of their prison chariots). I'm hoping the next wave of Castle can take some cues from Fantasy and Ninjago in going for a more muted color palette and some more mature sets.

Wild West - Trains, Town, Military and mini-figures
KotZ replied to Murdoch17's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
In my opninion, it looks a little bland, maybe because there's not much in it yet. All of your other designs (while definitely keeping in spirit with LEGO's Wild West theme of open backs and such, all feel a lot more intricate at the moment, especially the hidden cliff.- 109 replies

Is LEGO getting to inaffordable for kids?
KotZ replied to Lego David's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Exactly, it's all priorities. People, like you say, buy smartphones for hundreds of dollars. People buy them for their kids. Some parents spend loads on their kids and spoil them because they might not parent well (this is another discussion not for here). I had a friend who somehow convinced his parents to buy him a second $100 set because he lost the instructions to the first one. When I was a kid, I bought quite a few sets I saved up for that were anywhere from $10 to $100. My parents bought me and my brother sets like that too for birthdays and Christmas, some (the expensive ones) were to both my brother and me. Now as an adult I buy expensive sets and inexpensivbe sets and have passed on new phones, eating out (too much), and other things people might spend money on (that being said I am biting the bullet and getting a new phone this year for myself). I think kids want to do whatever is cool and their friends are doing. While video games and virtual content is here to stay and something physical toy companies should take note of, physical toys won't go away. Smart ones (like TLG) will blend the play like Hidden Side. -

Adam Bliley (Blileywood) posts maybe once a month or so, but he has one of the most massive town layouts I've ever seen.

Mrs. Molly Jackson is the head of the town bookclub. She loves reading and is desperate to remain young and hip. But as she gets up there in age, she realizes she gets closer and closer to living in a rest home with the old and grouchy Mrs. Barbara Melvin the Granny who runs the dreaded Knitting Club. Gross! Normally, she wouldn't mind, but Molly has caught wind that some of her bookclub members (and their significant others and kids) might be joining the Knitting Club and are aiming to destroy the bookclub from the inside out! Come play and help Molly root out the scum, or be a scum and make sure knitting becomes the favorite past time of the town! 1) Have you ever played Mafia before, and what's your experience? If not, have you read some of the games we've had on here? 2) Can you commit to the game timewise? 3) What do you prefer to read? The game is designed for 10-12 people. After that, we'll have a reserve list. For your convenience, the rules (modified and stolen from Kintobor, who in turn stole from def) have been attached below, so everyone knows what they're getting into. The Rules 1. Each player will be given a character to play, who will be aligned with either the Book Club (Town) or the Knitting Club (Scum). To win the game, the Town must kill off all the Scum, while the Scum needs to outnumber the Town. Third-party (neutral) characters have their own win conditions as outlined in their roles. 2. Each day you will be able to vote to lynch a player. Voting is mandatory. Voting should be done in the following format; Vote: Character (Player). Similarly, unvoting is to be done in the format; Unvote: Character (Player). No other format will be accepted. A majority vote is required to lynch a player. Failure to vote will incur a 2-vote penalty the following game day. 3. A game day will last a maximum of 72 hours. You may not vote in the first 24 hours. The day will end when a majority vote has been reached after 72 hours. After the day has been concluded, a night stage will commence, which will last 48 hours. Night actions must be sent to the host in the first 20 hours of the night stage. 3.5. Players may not target the same player two nights in a row, and may not target themselves. 4. The alignment of lynched players, as well as those that died during the "Off-hour"/night, will be revealed at the beginning of the next "Hour"/day. 5. You may not quote or pretend to quote anything sent to or from you in PM with the game host, or in PM with any other players. This includes all the details of your character and role, as well as any night action results. Role claims and reporting of night action results are acceptable, but in your own words only. Do not attempt to use the structure of your role PM to your advantage. 6. Do not play the game outside the thread. Similarly, do not post out of character inside the thread. Game tactics and roles may only be discussed in the game thread or via PM with other players. Private discussion is done at your own risk and should be treated as part of the game. 7. If you are dead, you may not post in thread or discuss the game with any of the players. Any information you had becomes void, and may not be passed on. 8. You may not edit your posts. 9. You must post in every day thread. 10. If you encounter a problem or have a question, please contact the host via PM. 11. Violation of any of the above rules will result in a 5 vote penalty for the first offence, and death on your second offence. 12. There are no hints or clues in the day/night images.

Lego themes that we would like to happen
KotZ replied to YellowCorvette's topic in General LEGO Discussion
No, as long as we don't get full blown themes of Friends, Big Bang Theory, etc. One and done sets (even two) ar eperfectly fine in my opinion, but I don't think LEGO should stretch itself too thin over licenses if possible.- 451 replies

Lego themes that we would like to happen
KotZ replied to YellowCorvette's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Useful for parts rather than display. Like there's a bunch of parts you might need for a MOC in that set and instead of showcasing the official set, you divide it up into the bins (of organization or not) and use the pieces for whatever you want.- 451 replies

Q&A: What is your favorite LEGO Vehicle?
KotZ replied to Driver Brandon Grumman's topic in LEGO Town
That's also a great addition to any town. A car transport thing to bring that shiny new car to the dealer before you mess it up? Before it's stolen by criminals? I jest. Somewhat. I've got good memories of 7991 that my brother owns, mainly of him using it as a transport vehicle in battles we would have as kids.- 31 replies

Eh, slightly too new I think for the spirit of the thread, but I'd agree to an extent. For Avatar, absolutely. Total shame there were only two sets for that show, yet we got however many of Spongebob. There was so much they could do. The figs were ugly for Avatar, but the idea was there. If Avatar wasn't a licensed theme, it would have sold better, or LEGO would have marketed it and made more sets. Let's be honest, Avatar is another flavor of KK2 or Ninjago. You could maybe even argue Exo-Force or Bionicle. If LEGO randomly decided to pick up thelicense again, I'd buy the sets in a heartbeat, especially if they were good. I never watched Korra, but I'm sure the sets would be good there too. The line could have a good mix of locations and vehicles/creatures for playability. I totally forgot about Racers, and I think I even have one of their sets. Ultra Agents I agree with, although it's basically an extension of Agents, which is maybe why it's forgotten. It's not like the difference between Alpha Team and Agents, in my opinion. Have you seen any of @Hinckley's MOCs or Mafia games? Fabuland everywhere It's definitely not forgotten on this board. This I think is spot on. I was never into Mindstorms or straight technic (aside from Bionicle), but you're totally right. I remember seeing magazine ads and such forMindstorms, but I didn't really know what it could do, or maybe I wasn't tech savvy enough for it. Maybe it was ahead of its time (actually, I'll bet on that). With kids playing with tech more (I talked to a coworker the other day who stated they saw a study that said soon anyone who has no idea how to code willbe considered illiterate eventually), you would think Mindstorms would be great... for this time. It was just too early.

LDD 4.3.12 update could be possible??
KotZ replied to CorvusA's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I occasionally use LDD on my laptop and don't have a mouse and have to use my trackpad. That's a pain. I tried downloading Stud.io the other day to see what part list they had and experiment. That was impossible to use. I might just use LDD for all my building and then export that to Stud.io and render from there if possible. -
They've always been slow to update in my opinion. I remember after Exo-Force was discontinued, the theme page for it was still there for a looong time. I still remember first signing up for the site when the launch page was basically a giant brick wall.
