  1. I got a lot of my vintage collection through eBay. I used it a lot between 2007 and 2010 for Lego & musical instruments. These days I only ever buy computer & electronic stuff, and only "buy it now". The auction system just doesn't work any more, and the feedback system is messed up. The search/browse functions are irritating and very difficult to filter out the rubbish without risking missing out on something that fits what you're looking for. Unless you want to scroll down 100 pages with 200 items per page...
  2. I was keen to see Ender's Game, I rarely go to the cinema since the prices are crazy, and despite being advertised before release, they never screened it. I live under a rock sometimes, so I had to ask a friend what was up with that, he was also disappointed, and suggested that it was possibly boycotted in opposition to the author's personal views. I find that silly, regardless of that author's personal views (yes, I do now know what they are) whether you agree with him or not. What does that have to do with the movie? Nothing, really. The essence of the story of Noah is that God is sickened by how evil everyone is at the time, but that Noah's family are righteous, so he will spare them and also uses them to save all the different creatures for a fresh start to humanity, while he wipes out the rest with a flood. An unbiased opinion can only be formed by watching the movie myself but what I have heard however (which is little), suggests it strays very far from the source in a few areas, the essence as I stated is not strictly adhered to, and the story sounds like it's really just a religified natural disaster movie. Time will tell whether it merely raises an eyebrow or furrows them! I'm sure someone will be offended regardless...
  3. Funny, I didn't even notice that it was grey. I did however notice the yellow on the front, it seemed a bit much for me. Do you have the black version with the Blacktron logo? I think it would look nicer. I like what you've done in the front section as far as the "update" in shape is concerned. The other 2 sections don't seem as "modern" style to me in comparison. It's a nice little modification with the gun, but I wonder if you could make the back 2/3 sleeker with some nice curves as you've done with the front. I also thought that the back part on the original was too low in height. You could make it a declining slope, so that the height matches the mid and front section where it would connect to them, but taper off towards the very back, or curve downwards. Thanks for sharing. Nice move with the Brick-tron Daddy
  4. I seriously LOLed when I saw the Darth Revan confirmation, after about 2 pages of off-topic EU discussion trying to justify why TLG wouldn't/shouldn't release a minifig that looks cool but the general public knows nothing about when there are other characters they also wouldn't know anything about... They release him because HE LOOKS COOL!!! I'm getting one, and all I know (and care) about him is his name, he's a sith lord, and now what he looks like. Same reason I got Darth Malgus and the other guy from last year.
  5. It is, slightly, and the ticket is for a child, just in case that info got lost on anyone.
  6. Toyworld's 50% off catalogue has no Lego if anyone was actually expecting any. Also, on S@H, TMNT set Baxter's Robot Revenge is half price ($35), and the Sandcrawler will be $450 and available at the end of April. (Maybe mid April for VIPs?) So I already know I won't be getting that... No email... curious. I was keen to get more elf army sets but there's only 1 left at my local. Can I find another $60 set...
  7. I like it, if it is real and the promo minifig I'm keen for it. Hope we find out soon.
  8. It's really good, but putting it next to the monorail just shows how much I prefer those to common trains. The smaller track & the slope pieces are big winners. That said, the train itself is more versatile being both wider and longer. Regarding your train, it captures the Futuron monorail train essence very well, and the whole room setup is great, it's my kind of era.
  9. Future sailors...
  10. All these fees sometimes. Paypal fee even though most of the time I have no option but to use Paypal. Lot limit fees for wanting an order that takes slightly longer to pull. What about customer service, huh? I agree that a flat fee isn't so bad if it's necessary, it's easier to calculate the total. But all these percentage fees are a sneaky way to advertise a lower price in the search area than you actually charge, and also when calculations get to be more than you can just do in your head it gets annoying.
  11. Haha, nicely done
  12. Pretty sure that's meant to be a steamroller or similar roadwork equipment, hence the "flatten road" name. "Aggregation series" is pretty funny.
  13. I thought this was LDD at first look. It captures the SP2 essence very well. I like the way that you've stayed fairly true to the parts and colours. You just had to 1-up the double length windscreen, didn't you! I think it would make a lot of difference if you had the 4th prison pod, the shape of the ship looks very unfinished with a hole there. It's a nice interior. I never worried about that sort of thing, I was always trying to squeeze in as many minifigs as possible.
  14. Interesting. I'm going to grab some off S@H at some point. First I want to know the SW promo minifig to see whether I'll wait until then (and get everything I want at once to avoid the insane postage cost) or not. I picked up the movie set a little while ago, it was okay, but later I realised that it's the same price as the gatehouse set, which is far better value.
  15. I noticed the difference on mine, but I couldn't quite tell just by looking which were the "wrong" ones, the higher or lower. No. The shock troopers are from the CW, whereas the microfighter clone is Episode III, so their body & armour shape proportions are different.
  16. I think it's more that people don't like the shoddy backyard custom jobs ruining what would otherwise be a nice clean original print, that you could otherwise reuse indefinitely. Also, there are so many parts, colours and prints available from original Lego that many feel it is better to use these "pure" elements (if possible) if it's necessary to make a new or improved minifig than to spoil perfectly good elements. I see a lot of superhero, SW clone or castle knight customs that look very unprofessional. I also see some that look really good. I also see stacks of "custom" castle knights that only use "pure" elements that look really good. I'm currently recreating a classic minifig in new colours. That has required making new torso prints & removing existing prints. If the end result looks good I will be happy, but I don't know if too many Harry Potter fans will be glad that I've desecrated Dumbledore's legs in the process, and I'm certain that the pirate fans would think it a waste that all my blue-coats are headless & in with the spare parts. To sum up, I think a lot of the time the customs don't look as good as official stuff, or they change a part that can't be changed back to what it was. (I received painted horses in a 2nd hand lot once, the job didn't look good and the paint didn't come off properly. Ruined.)
  17. What am I, the new thread killer? I found to my surprise that both blue and red saddles are less common than I thought. They haven't been used in a long time. I suppose it shouldn't stop TLG from throwing in a brown or dark grey one for that set though.
  18. I didn't quite mean to say that they took already designed Galaxy Squad sets and turned them into the other, but more that they figured that the hunger for space ships or buggish beasties could be satisfied by the other (and also that they wouldn't want another theme eating into possible Ninjago or Chima sales by having similar models). A bit like releasing a Corsair ship or more in place of a line of pirate sets. "Hey, the pirate fans'll dig it"
  19. Still? Here's an old one, it's an excerpt from 90s sketch comedy Full Frontal, with Shaun Micallef as Nobby Doldrums as Mr Memory, vs Kim Gyngell as Kerry O'Brien of the 7:30 Report. Mr Memory recalls his childhood...
  20. Just realised "Grievous' Wheel BIKE" has one wheel. Making it a "UKE"? But why the redundant "wheel-"? Why not just "Grievous' Uke"? Lucas.
  21. I hit up some Targets, and the 20% off stacks with the clearance prices that are already on most of last year's stock. Essentially, things are @40% off. If I didn't already have a Galactic Titan (and no need for another) I would grab at nearly half-price $80! Last year's Castle, Galaxy Squad, Super Heroes, Ninjago & Chima plus a bunch of City (that all looks the same to me year after year). Not Friends, and not the Umbarran MHC or Arkham Asylum (both exclusive to Target). Count yourself lucky if you can find an army builder. Especially the Castle one that was good value to start with.
  22. Another one from Myer: $10 off every $50 until Sunday. Whether it's all toys or just Lego I can't remember.
  23. Yeah Toyworld emailed me the same offer.
  24. Good, they don't have any stock of the sets I am tempted to army build with.
