  1. I've made a traintunnel entrance for a small tunnel that i will place next to my modular building. Any ideas on this design? (It is wide enough, as the train is almost straight entering the tunnel!) The large arch will be changed by a LBG piece....
  2. Thanx, and indeed the dark tan 2x2 tiles are pretty expensive!! Reason was to make XL-versions, is that i already saw a lot of set-ups and layout with Original Modular sets.. I just wanted to give the buildings a personal touch by expanding them in the way i wanted. I will do the same with the new 10255 Assembly Square! It is just a matter of preference!
  3. Thanks Johan! The whole layout stands on a surface of 92.160 studs, or 384x240 studs. Total pieces used, about 80.000. with the exception of the first three modulars, all XL-buildings are made from two original sets, with some extra parts. The square is tiled with about 15.000 tiles, mainly 2x2 in Tan and Dark Tan. Here and there are Dark Red tiles used around trees
  4. THe first two are okay, but the last one is really boring... I will separate the pastel building from the rest, i guess....i'll use two sets....
  5. As far as i remember, i only widened it....not raised the height....Maybe these pictures show more.. On the first picture, both buildings are in the original sizes! (I found the first picture later...)
  6. With some zooming, you might find your answer in this picture..:
  7. Your city of lights is very impressive too...it somehow made me think of the 'Sacre Coeur' in Paris!!!
  8. Could we see a close-up of the tiling....that is lookig great too!
  9. Thanks!! The hand-cart vendors (40140) are not my design...they came with one of the modulars...i think it was with the Detective Office. The trees started small and grew over the years... i added an extra layer of branches and different colored leaves now and then. They look the best seen from above... at minifig level, you can see through the trees a bit too much.. but for this purpose, it is okay! You can find car-free squares a lot in the Netherlands. It is not a square i've built after an existing one, it is just from my imagination, and also the square has grown over the years..,, everytime when i had to add an extra XL modular, i had to expand the square with 3 baseplates (48x48). I'm not sure if i will make the square bigger in the future, maybe i'll make some kind of small and narrow street next to the square, at the left side... I'll have to find a solution for the track then....however, the trainstation is not the most necessary part of the square. I've been thinking of a newspaper-stand for a long time, but cannot succeed in building a nice one.. i also want a foodtruck, but from what i've heared, there is a pizza-van coming up in the City range next year! So i'll wait for that.. and else a modded Ice-cream truck from the Lego movie...
  10. From this perspective it looks that there are a lot of streetlight, but all modulars are at least double the width of a norma modular, where there is one modular for 32 studs. There is only one extra in front of the brown pet-shop building...
  11. Thanks, that is a nice idea, never seen fallen leaves in that way... (Maybe that is because i'm not so good at landscaping!) But it might look pretty good!!
  12. Recently i made some expansions on my Modular Square. Within a few months, i have to fit in the Lego 10255 Assembly Square as well, but i'll find a way! I used 20 modular sets to create this square. For the square itself, i used over 16.000 parts for tiling, trees and benches! Enjoy my HD YouTube video, that i made last week and get inspired!:
  13. Could this be a new 2x3 tile in Dark Red? Or a 2x2 + 1x2...?
  14. I could always order only one modular per account/Household in the last years... Do not know what amount you can haul in a store...

  16. It is on Shop at Home now! https://shop.lego.com/nl-NL/Gebouwenset-10255
  17. There is one thing that seems to be trending.. using more sets to make an XL-version.....this set is very usable for that, as you could make three decent buildings of it...so i think we will see a lot of stand alones, ore full-size 32 wide buildings!
  18. Yes that is probably the best thing to do. I live at an hours drive from the German Oberhausen-shop. Fuelcost would be 15 euro's. But point is, can i buy two of them?? I have two accounts with both 15 euros worth of VIP points, but have no card anymore. Can i still get VIP-discount from both accounts in the Oberhausen Lego Store? Does anyone know? And can i buy two at once in that shop? The price of the Assembly Square will differ about 30 euro's per set, so it is worht driving for an hour, if you don't count the time.... Maybe i should start a dealership, that buys sets in Germany, and takes them to the Netherlands..and sell 'm there again for a bit less... (Edit: the set just appeared on Shop at Home Netherlands and the price is Eur 259,99 so 'only' 20 euro's more than Germany...) Sven, i see exactly what you mean... somehow the saturation is messed up...same with the Brickbank, where a lot of people thought it was in Tan, in stead of White... Here the same... The colors will look better in real, i think!! With 4 sets, you'd better make separate buildings of it.. i'm not sure if a 4-set XL version would still fit with other modulars, especially when the other moduler sets are not in XL version.... The sandblue and yellow/white building would do very good as a corner building, or even as a some kind of U-building... so not only a 90-degree, but 180 degrees... that would look great and Majestic!
  19. You did a pretty great job here! Did you add 2 small 8x16 baseplates? Who inspired you to change AL's into AL'S HAIR?
  20. Oh i like this one a lot.. I see also that having this Brickbank in relatively sober colors, it is okay to see the Assembly Square a lot more colorful!
  21. This made me laugh at least 4 times.....haha!!! Love this kind of humour....
  22. You could easily build the left building on the green 16x32 plate and the rest on the 32x32 green baseplate that goes also with this set.. The seem of the 32x32 and 16x32 baseplate can be seen just at the right of the pram. The left streetlight stands just on the 32x32 baseplat then.. so you can separate the left building from the rest!
  23. Well, here is another one..higher..almost a complete City...
  24. This looks like a complete street actually!
  25. Haha...oh yes, it needs to be bigger, as i will also MOD this one into an XL-version, but that is okay for me!! A set like the Assembly Square is very welcome! It adds color again and nice possibilities with arranging!!! Just change the color of the white/yellow awning and no-one will notice, when you have them all in one layout!
