It's something I'll look into I think once I have a few more MOCs under my belt. I might do a bit more snooping around the sub-forum to get a feel of what goes on there. I'm also not sure how much time I'll have to commit to regular building so I wouldn't want to be a liability.

I like the variation in the foliage. Gives a nice impression of a dense forrest.

Hi All, I'm currently building my first MOC. I've been out of my Lego dark ages now for about 13 years and mostly collected SW sets until about 5 years ago when I got into the historical stuff. Since then I've purchased a fair bit with the intention of building my own stuff but never got around to building until now (the last 6 months have been spent sorting ). Up until now all I've really built is random small things with my 4 year old son, nothing big. Since this was my first build I've been taking a lot of photos as I go because I'm interested to have a retrospective on the build, especially to see what things I've changed along the way. Since I've been reading this forum for a few years I've picked up plenty of tips from seeing what other people do. I've still got a bit to learn and the building process has been very enjoyable. I'm hoping to finish it in the next couple of weeks and take some decent photos (with a proper camera and a white background). I'll put the most recent photos first which is the finished building. Now I have to complete the landscaping and surrounds. Here are the photos from my progress, including shots of the inside (upstairs and down). Here was my original floor plan for upstairs which set the size of my build. A few things had to be changed in the actual build.

That viking fortress looks awesome. I never realised it existed. It's a shame as I was only buying Star Wars lego at the time of release and only got into castle with the 2007 castle line. If they released another viking line with a similar fortress I'd be very happy.

Target Merrylands (NSW) had about 10 warg attacks and bag end sets. Picked up one of each.

Purchased all the new LOTR at Myer today in Sydney city (with additional 10% off). Also got some toys for the kids as well so walked out with 2 big bags of toys :) And purchased Orthanc on S@H last night using some VIP points as well so I've had a big week. Tempted to get another Kingdoms Joust set on sale as well but I already have 2 of these so couldn't justify it this week...

This is Kmart's strategy now. They've introduced a lot of their own branded cheap stuff across the entire store range. They've been slowly doing this for toys as well. So they'll continue to stock regular toy brands as well but they'll have their own branded stuff much cheaper. Look at their matchbox/hot wheels homebrand cars they sell. The quality is ordinary but they are half the price of the brand name toys.

Hoping that the new LOTR sets are out in time for all the sales (since it's up on S@H now). I doubt the Castle stuff will be released in time.
