  1. I always part them out. I'm not allowed to sell them or monetize them in a more indirect way. But there were sets I felt I could do without in the past, and in these cases I've donated them to charity.
  2. Well, maybe it's my sentiment for the 90's sets I played with as a kid, but I don't like the situation where you buy a +$200 set and you can't immediately build the other model (which you may very well like better than the main one), you need to look for it online, download it part by part and then either build in front of a computer or use a tablet, assuming you have one. Plus we don't exactly know how long will Lego keep these instructions online. I can find instructions for the Arocs' B-model today just fine, but what about in 10 years? Or 20?
  3. "And you can add it to your portfolio", right? ;)
  4. I had a guy insist I give him a really huge MOC for free because it's his birthday. Beat that.
  5. I've seen your post, actually, made my day better every single time. Thank you :) LOL, they're actually more into gaming ;)
  6. Thanks for the support. I guess I can't help but to question myself when dealing with this kind of people.
  7. Let's say his following posts, few as they were, consisted primarily of expletives ;)
  8. I honestly can't imagine it working. They way I disassemble MOCs differs from the way I build them substantially, plus to make any practical sense I would need to show the disassembly piece by piece, close-up and with all possible details. It's at least very challenging technically and practically, if not downright impossible. Besides, I'm sure a number of people would not be satisfied with it.
  9. I'm not sure it's that simple. I'm just one of many builders who share vids of their creations, I'm not exactly sure at which point of doing that you become a public person. It's not like I sit in front of camera and show myself to people. But you're right, I should probably stick to my guns and not waste time for conversations such as this one. Anyway, I admit I always feel guilty to some extent for showing people something they want but can't buy. But I don't see any ideal solution to this problem. If only I a day lasted like 50 hours so I could make instructions for everything...
  10. Awwwww my bad, sorry about that. I should have edited out his name everywhere. I started this thread because I get comments like this one on a regular basis. Not like there are tons of them, but they always follow the same weird logic and I was starting to think that perhaps I'm looking at it wrong. Maybe I should feel guilty for showing people stuff they can't just simply buy, I don't know. On another hand, by this logic I should probably ask Ferrari to sell me one of their limited edition cars because I've watched a video of them somewhere...
  11. Guys, I'd like to ask your opinion on something that happens every now and then. You see, I'm one of the builders who choose not to sell their MOCs - instead, I make sure to describe it in detail, show it as closely as possible and, if there is a demand, perhaps make instructions for some key component. This works fine for most of the time, and I've seen people building very accurate copies of my models using these resources - and I was glad to see it. But of course there are times when people feel you absolutely OUGHT to sell a MOC (nevermind that it no longer exists) because they've watched your video so they are ENTITLED to get their wishes granted. The question is, who is right, or is there a middle ground? Below is a screen of part of a recent conversation with one such person. Be advised, there is some bad language. I also apologize if the conversation sounds harsh - this part takes place after I've declined to sell a MOC 3 times already, and there was info in the video about it being not for sale in the first place. Which is why I may sound a little impatient here. Screen in question: http://s4.postimg.org/ruyqrj7j1/wanker.png TLDR version: this person's logic would have me to absolutely sell a MOC to anybody who's seen a video of it, because viewing this video somehow entitles them to it. Basically, by making YT videos you become servant of people who watch them or something like that. I don't usually bother with people like that and this particular conversation ended with a ban after he called me a few more names (it felt like we've exhausted our options at this point), but the thing is, a conversation like this is bound to repeat. Who do you think is right? Are we obliged to sell our MOCs? I was under impression most YouTubers don't even feel obliged to answer comments, but perhaps I was looking at some bad part of the YouTube.
  12. The new 3L axle with stop is definitely Reddish Brown, although it's easy to mistake it for regular Brown. I haven't seen any orange axles.
  13. I have a feeling that being 32 feet wide was always their goal ;)
  14. Looking great, I envy you being able to read with one eye and watch vids with the other ;)
  15. I've managed to dig up some Medium Azure pieces in my collection for comparison. Looks like I was wrong. I can confirm, the blue in this set is 100% Medium Azure.
  16. The standard stuff, you know, views and comments in various time spans. Also, the numbers of times hamsters were discussed ;)
  17. The fan is Flat Silver. As for the axles, I too suspect they were made to make things easy for kids, not for us. Either kids can't be bothered to tell 5L axle from 7L axle or Lego is trying to make 4 years old build this stuff, I don't know. Last thing I would suspect is that anyone cares how it will match with colors of our MOCs. When I saw this reddish brown axle in the Drag Racer I was like "oh come ON".
  18. I agree it bears a strong resemblance to a guinea pig, although I have yet to see one with rotors ;)
  19. I'm not sure about that blue color. I have compared it with the pieces I already own and it appears to look just like dark turquoise, only a tone lighter. Looking at the Lego color table, I believe it to be light turquoise, a very rare color so far, but an existing one.
  20. Thanks Jim! The new camera sure came handy when it came to filming the heli against white backdrop. I don't think my old one could have handled this :) Now let me take a look at the photos you've made and develop inferiority complex ;)
  21. Hello everybody. This time I've decided to try and put my reviews in one separate thread for easy access. Let me know how it works for you. I would like to mention that your views and comments on the videos always matter because I actually send back a report to Lego on my reviews. There will be somebody at Billund taking look at your activity :) First off, here's the entire playlist with my reviews: And now the individual reviews: 42052 Heavy Lift Helicopter 42050 Drag Racer 42049 Mine Loader 42048 Race Kart 42047 Police Interceptor 42046 Getaway Racer 42045 Hydroplane Racer 42044 Display Team Jet
  22. I don't know what complexes you mean or what you expected or what is your problem in general, you clearly didn't understand what I said. If you think that visiting someone's home entitles you to investigate their sex life, then I guess you don't get many invitations.
  23. Sorry for my frankness, but just because you're invited to take a look at my home and my "hobby area" doesn't mean you're invited to peek under my duvet. It's amazing how some people confuse these two.
  24. There are always two hamsters, so that I can work with the one that isn't sleeping at the moment :)
  25. It's all fun and games but try to make any meal without hamsters raising hell to get some of it ;)
