  1. I've recently found myself in love with charcoal backdrop.
  2. Or we could, you know, actually enforce EB guidelines which clearly state 'adults only'. I strongly suspect this would take care of many, many topics in question.
  3. My yet another favorite are topics titled like "idea for a 6-speed gearbox" that consist of "I need one, can anyone share?". Nothing wrong with it per se, but it wouldn't kill somebody to start the title with "Looking for".
  4. Finally. I get the EB's "say nice things or nothing" attitude, but it's exhausting when one has to click through 10 topics before actually seeing some Lego bricks.
  5. Not to criticize, but imagine how much more impressive and click-worthy this topic would be if you had some pictures. Even a single one. Anything more than just two sequences. It probably wouldn't hurt to mark topics like this, which are abundant at EB these days, with [WIP] or something in the title. Just an idea.
  6. I've wrapped a paper strip around each rim to prevent tire sliding. Worked well for the rear wheels, not so great for the front ones. If I had to move the motors higher, the whole chassis would need to be longer. I wanted to avoid that because longer chassis = longer bodywork = more weight.
  7. Try this. Sequential, levers locked at all times, 4 speeds with ratios from 5:1 to 1:1, you can gear it down between gearbox and the axle if you feel this is too fast. It's braced so well, you can bash somebody to death with it :) Instructions available at my website:
  8. July or August, I don't know exactly yet.
  9. Funny thing is, the more I look at this truck, the more it feels like I've built old Toyota Hilux ;)
  10. I agree the bodywork isn't great. I guess I got too fixed on closing up all the holes and gaps, and the result looks like fridge on wheels :)
  11. Alright, my turn :) This is essentially a leisure build, I didn't plan to make it superfast or very pretty, I focused on the suspension instead. It was supposed to be fully independent, with live axle in the back, and soft enough to allow body roll while cornering - something that is rarely seen in LEGO models, yet looks very realistic. I have achieved some body roll, but it's definitely not as huge as in the original vehicle. The looks are based (admittedly loosely) on several trucks driven by BJ Baldwin - his most recent ones are part white, part black, but he drove all-black trucks before. I agree that it's too boxy and too narrow. Photos and a bit of reading: http://sariel.pl/2015/06/bj-baldwins-trophy-truck/
  12. Excellent! Also, it shows how much weight you can save by not using LEGO RC unit and AA batteries.
  13. Then all you need is move the 6L links closer to the central joints and experiment with placement and angles of the shock absorbers. Or you can try the setup from my Baja Truck's rear axle, which had plenty of flex, as shown below. And no, it doesn't come with instructions.

  15. They are very bright, actually. In most cases they are enough and I'm not using any other lamps on this side of the workshop.
  16. My workplace got an overhaul. Yes, it's a long video but hey, you get to see: - a pile of rare wheels approximately close in value to a pair of human kidneys - three working Micromotors (doesn't happen too often) - a Griffon with a tail being pulled out of his, umm, chair area - the LUCIFER! ;)
  17. Yes, it can (see 4:38): I'd say the big problem is actually acquiring two HD wheels, given their rarity and subsequent prices.
  18. Thank you kindly, sir. Cheers ;)
  19. I don't think it's perfect, but thank you. There's always room for improvement, that's what makes this hobby fun :)
  20. I thought so. Sorry, it was difficult to make it move the other way around (I would have to rotate the gearbox, essentially) :)
  21. If only that was so easy. I'd say they don't look right when viewed from the downside: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Sariel/F1Car/dsc06788.jpg
  22. Thanks. I've done a vehicle that went over 20 km/h a while ago and it was almost nothing but motors, RC unit and wheels. So a model like this one won't even come close, which is why I'm not particularly obsessed with its speed :)
  23. I make them and print them on a white sticker foil.
