This has nothing to do with the bucket wheel or the motor. It's the clutch gears.

I don't remember Unimog steering that well. I'd say it has similar amount of backlash to Arocs. I'm sure it can be made vertical, they probably wanted to keep the roof smooth for license reasons. I absolutely don't see any room for differentials in there, and even less room for connecting them to anything. Sure.

They seem to stick pretty well, but that may be just them being new. Thank you, there's a lot of hard work in there (and recent investment in a set of softboxes and a new editing software). I actually think I might have made this video too bright. I'll experiment more when filming the 42053.

Hamsters have ruined your evil plan long ago by getting too fat to go down the conveyor belt.

This time I present to you the epic story of a tractor I fell in love with (even though it's not perfect), a hamster having a bath and one mean turkey. But seriously, that thing makes 42056 look ugly. Pros: - real beauty, IMHO can rival the 42056 Porsche - excellent big new tires, exquisite stickers - great modding material thanks to standarized PTOs; you can make custom attachments for it - brilliant steering system and cabin rotation mechanism - best source of new and recent pieces in this price range - reasonably priced for a set with PF and many new pieces - very easy to control - lime is love, lime is life Cons: - the cabin and the hood are pretty flimsy - no actual B-model, just another attachment instead - very complex internal construction and steering system leave little room to mod the actual tractor - only one attachment with motorized functions - the crane seems rather crude compared to the tractor and can barely lift anything

No, you can't. A small mod changing how actuators connect to the boom would fix that, though. After you remove these damn clutch gears, yeah, probably.

If you watch the video, you'll know that the box contains first 10 bags with pieces. It's clearly explained and the contents are shown.

42054 - Claas Xerion 5000 Trac VC
Sariel replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Come on, Jim. Lime is love, lime is life -
Yes, the clutches are very sensitive and stop the wheel immediately. Everything you say about the speed is true - from an experienced adult's point of view. The review is supposed to be for everybody, so I have to consider kids who will want to play with this set - to them, something that takes about 5 minutes to do one 360 rotation (yes, really!) will be disappointing. It feels like it could be faster even with this one PF XL motor. It seems to be geared down more than it really needs to, judging e.g. from its sound.

Here it is, the biggest - and surprisingly cheap, given the size - set in the Technic history so far. It's just recently been beaten by Cinderella Castle when it comes to pieces count, but oh well... First impressions: it's enormous, it's slow, the new annular quarter-gear piece is awesome and the truck is strongly different from the 42035 set, regardless of what some people claim (you can see it next to 42035 in the video). Pros: - enormous, the biggest Technic set in history, over 1,100 pieces more than in the second biggest one (42043 set) - reasonably priced: costs actually less than the 42056 set which is much smaller - fantastic source of pieces, including many great new pieces - superb lesson of structural engineering - comes with a nice truck - both A and B model are unusual machines - pleasant, straightforward build, took me actually less time than the 42043 set Cons: - digging, the primary function, is almost useless because the bucket wheel stops on anything - most children will be adults by the time it drives across the room - mastering the control gearbox isn't easy - plenty of backlash because of all the gears; the accuracy of lower belt's lock function suffers in particular - doesn't look like any typical bucket wheel excavator - very sparse selection of spare pieces

So, we finally got a green light from TLG to publish the interview we've had the pleasure of making with Milan and Andy from the Technic team back in June at Billund. By "we" I mean me and TechnicBRICK's Fernando - since we both believe in teamwork, we have worked on this interview together, sharing the footage between us. As a result, this interview comes in two versions: My version, first 30 minutes is me and then it's Fernando: And Fernando's version, which is the other way around: The footage is a little different in each version, and personally I like the sound in mine a little better, since I was using an external directional mic for recording. Enjoy!

Hi guys, I've had a chance to test a prototype of a BuWizz - an interesting device that combines remote control unit which allows controlling stuff with your phone AND a power supply which is surprisingly powerful. My video test is below, keep in mind that this is a prototype and you can make the finished product happen by supporting it at Kickstarter: https://www.kickstar...for-lego-models Project website: http://buwizz.com/ Well then stick any power bank into it and keep going. Something you can't do with the Lego 8878 battery.

Bob the LEGO Janitor

Everyone has met Bob the Janitor at least once. Bob usually populates schools and offices, it is usually seen on its own and doesn’t form herds, and it feeds on shoeprints recovered from the floor as well as on schoolchildren’s fear. He has a strong territorial instinct and may be aggressive if his freshly cleaned floor is trespassed. Interestingly, his age appears to be constant but advanced, although all attempts at carbon dating have been unsuccessful. Theories abound about how Janitor is often actually older than the building he maintains and how he gets an extra year added to his lifespan for each scene he causes against the trespassers. The distinguishing features of a Janitor include the Broom of Doom, a sleepy yet vigilant and always suspicious look, a mandatory mustache, a cigarette that never burns out, and a belly used to store gathered shoeprints for later consumption. Thus it is possible to visually estimate the effectiveness of any Janitor by the size of his belly. The Janitor’s mating habits and methods of breeding remain unverified, mostly due to an underdeveloped sexual dimorphism (it’s extremely difficult to tell males from females), as well as due to the fact that sightings of more than a single specimen within the same territory are exceedingly rare. No one has actually seen Janitor’s offspring either, which led some to believe than instead of mating, this species relies on cloning. More: http://sariel.pl/201...ob-the-janitor/

T-34/85 "Rudy" Tank

The link to the complete description of the model, including motors, suspension, photos and whatnot is in the first post. I guess I should make it with flashing neon letters next time... -

T-34/85 "Rudy" Tank
Sariel replied to Sariel's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
It already has a 4L bar inside connecting it to the turret. LEGO doesn't get much more rigid than that unless I use a Trains metal axle or something. -

The most challenging tank I've built in a while. I'd say the turret alone took more work than my entire Maus model. Photos, data and write-up, as usual: http://sariel.pl/201...4-85-rudy-tank/ -
Liebherr R974 Pneumatic Excavator
Sariel replied to Sariel's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Sure. You could put a GoPro in front of the manometer and get a live video feed on your phone. That was the idea. -
Here's my model of a classic Liebherr exavator. I'm not overly happy with it, but my primary goal - full remote control of all pneumatics with a high degree of accuracy - was achieved. Oh, and that custom LED beacon is available here: http://bit.ly/buybeacon Photos & reading: http://sariel.pl/201...atic-excavator/
