Note: this is a copy of a thread in the Technic section - it was originally started there, but it was suggested to me that folks at SW section might be interested as well. The original thread is here: So, I want to share with you complete and free instructions for modding the UCS BB-8 set to be fully RC. And by fully RC I mean: it can drive, steer, it has rotating side panels (so it appears to be rolling when viewed from side) and retains the wobbly head. Ths instructions are available at http://sariel.pl/downloads/ and while they're completely free, you may want to consider a small donation if you feel it is earned at https://www.paypal.me/sarielpl Here's the video followed by a link to photos and description: More: http://sariel.pl/2017/12/75187-bb-8-ucs-rc-mod/

I submitted it this morning and it's currently pending approval. I also just posted a copy of this thread in the SW section, I hope this is acceptable. Thanks, but to be accurate it's being offered as a donationware, which doesn't really seem to work, to be honest, since I have gotten exactly one donation to a total amount of 5 euro so far. Just something to keep in mind if you expect donationware to rain money.

[MOC] Ford GT + Instructions
Sariel replied to Fanylover's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Looks incredible! Great job! -
I'm not 100% sure if this belongs here, seeing as it's a Technic mod of a Star Wars set, but let the moderators decide. Donald may not believe in the climate change, but I thought Santa should be prepared for it :)

I think your calculations are correct in theory, the torques sum up and the speeds are averaged BUT in practice the final speed will be lower than average because of the inevitable friction and energy loss in the mechanism of the adder itself. The adder will slow down the motors by simply working and being driven by them, while the torque should remain unaffected.

Six teeth sprocket
Sariel replied to oracid's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
That, sir, is one cool-looking workshop. The sprocket is brilliant as well :) -
Technic 2018 Set Discussion
Sariel replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
They usually only let me know when a parcel is on its way already. If they wanted reviews to be ready by December 1st, as usual, then it's already too late. -
Technic 2018 Set Discussion
Sariel replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Not a single word from the Lego company yet. Remember that they had just let some people go and they're generally cutting their expenses. -
The problem: it takes hours and hours of grinding to unlock the good stuff in the Star Wars Battlefront 2 game. The trick: in the Galactic Assault multiplayer mode you get some credits even without scoring any points, provided you don't get kicked for idling. The solution: this LEGO EV3 contraption that uses randomized algorithm to play with the Xbox pad"

Yes, you need a tablet, just as stated on the box. More of my Boost reviews: -
Mayka Block Tape (former Nimuno Loops) [VIDEO TEST]
Sariel posted a topic in General LEGO Discussion
Ever wanted to see the LEGO Eiffel Tower upside-down, attached to the bottom of a table? Here's your chance, with a product that is a rebrand of the famous Nimuno Loops ($1.6M gathered at Indiegogo): -
The instructions show the grey command module, but without the print on it, and they don't show where to take it from or that you have to remove the white one. It just suddenly goes from white to gray, which may well look like a printing error. I'm aware of mr. Armstrong's passing and I'm sure he would have liked the set. The YT videos are non-editable, as I'm sure you know.

I'm not sure if reviews are welcome in this part of the forum, but it seemed to me like a more fitting place than e.g. historic themes. If I'm wrong, please move the thread. Pros and cons followed by TWO videos below (a review and a separate speed build video): Pros: - incredibly BIG, surprisingly detailed and accurate - comes with a beautiful instructions book featuring the whole story of the Apollo 11 program; a wonderfull lesson in history - includes unique and useful printed pieces and nice nanofigures, too - great display set; the rocket can be displayed vertically or horizontally, and accompanied by the Moon landing and splashdown scenes - features craziest building techniques I've seen in an official LEGO set - relatively cheap at 5.6p / 6.1c per piece Cons: - limited playability; primarily a display set - very tall and quite heavy; easy to knock down and thus potentially unsafe for young children - wanting instructions; to properly reenact the Apollo 11 mission, you need to alter the CSM module in a way not explained in the instructions - can be difficult to build due to the very unusual building techniques being used - parts of the build are pretty boring, as you have to build 4 copies of the same part repeatedly

Strv.-103C
Sariel replied to Tommy Styrvoky's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Gotta say, it really blows my two S Tank models out of the water. You've outdone yourself, sir :) Perhaps the model would get more comments if published in the Technic section? -
"Collaboration" meaning that they've asked Ambassadors for some suggestions as to how to build some parts of it, such as teeth, eggs etc. I'm unable to tell how closely they've followed our suggestions but now that I look at it, the eyes seem pretty close to a design I've sent. As far as I know, the final design was all done by Lego and assembled by their workers. They might have just refined a selected few of our ideas.

The Technic part of the History Collections, since I finally got to see a perfect-condition Technic Shuttle in flesh. It would be nice to see the new Millennium Falcon in there, too.

Last Wednesday, September 6th, I was kindly granted an early entrance to the LEGO House with a camera and here's the resulting video. Please keep in mind that the House will have more to offer when it officially opens on September 28th, and that there was still some work in progress on several exhibits. Special thanks to TLG's Jan and Trine for making it possible :)

Mark V Tank
Sariel replied to Sariel's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The Bovington Museum has one male Mark V, exactly the H41 unit from which I've taken the markings for my model, and it's not in the working order anymore. -
Mark V Tank
Sariel replied to Sariel's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I was unable to find out the maximum slope possible to climb by the original Mark V. Finding any documentation for a vehicle from 100 years ago is, well, not easy.
