i thought 8448 was better?....what is that model better then say 8466 or 8448? -
the knockoff of 8674 is on the way....but coming from China, it could take 6 - 8 weeks to deliver to Ireland....it was free postage. but when it arrives i will take pics as i am interested in the quality of the parts myself.

my second hand set i just bought have all the stcikers peeling of....i gonna try see what mine looks like without stickers, i prefer stickerless sets. but i bought one of those precut sticker sheets off ebay for this set...in case i think it needs the stickers. that B model of 8461 is amazing....it just uses the parts from the A model right?

yeah those damped springs used in 8448 are great, they havent been seen since 8297 which is a real shame as they are a great part. 8265 was a superb set....it was the overly expensive on offesive 42030 that should be mocked here. -
just bought a used set on ebay for 75 Euro with free shipping. it has the yellow shock absorber...i hear people say that most sets came with a DBG part but most of the sets i have seen for sale all came with yellow. of the four used sets for sale on Ebay all have the yellow shock. it seems to me that the DBG part is actually the rarer of the two...its my understanding that the first sets sold came with DBG and then change the colour to yellow. which is true?

fair enough...but its the only reasonable way to get these sets at a good price....genuine sets cost a fortune for these 3 models as they are rarer then Technic sets. at least my sets will 95% genuine Lego parts.

let me ask you guys this, if the set was €200 would you still complain? i belive the bitching is purely based on the price of the set, not the lack of functions or steering geometry etc. -
have you seen the second hand prices on Bricklink for the unique parts used in this set?.... http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemInv.asp?S=8674-1 i am only gonna use a small handful off parts from the knockoff set...its either that or pay a 141 Euro for a second hand set off Bricklink....so i hink i saved alot of money doing it this way, well...decool seems to better quality then the other brands, hopefully the parts are OK....i have a genuine set of 8458 that i bought off Ebay with box/manuls so can compare the rims to each other once i get it.

the tyres go for 20 Euro each on Bricklink. the metallic parts start at 7 Euro each. the 16L hoses start around 4 Euro each....i paid 46 Euro for the knockoff of 8674 so i think i got a good deal.

OMG!....all those tyres and wheels, dozens of them...and us poor souls will end up paying like 20 Euro for each tyre and wheel set via Bricklink. there will be majpr scalping and price gouging on parting out these sets and selling off the exclusive and orange parts for huge money. i bet these Bricklink guys will make double or tripple there money on just selling the parts. -
you know those Chinese cheap knockoffs from Bella and Decool?...of the Lego Racers Ferrari sets....i bought all 3 of them, why?....its the only way i can get certain parts that are exclusive to the sets at a reasonable price. like the wheels from 8674....those rare 14L and 16L red flex hoses, i plan to throw out the vast majority of the parts and use genuine Lego parts, but for the rare or parts only found in those sets i will keep. this way i can finally get these sets. what do you think of my plan?

TLG wont cancel or withdraw the set, what they will do is revise the model...if there is a serious issue they will redo the manual or parts with later sets that are produced. anyone that complains will get a service pack or a link to download the revised instructions etc. i dont think this set has major flaws per se, its just AFOL's thinking they can build a better set...a MOC, which is probably true. -
sets like 8417, 8432 and 8462 were amazing and creative looking sets. very unique in terms of colour, parts and the look of these vehicles...these sets features lots of unique wheels and tyres, metallic silver!! they were very inventive and real fture/concept looking vehicles.....alas Technic designers lost their mojo and played it safe from then on, trotting out the yearly batch of yellow construction vehicles....sigh!

can we preorder this item from the lego shop?...or just buy it on june 1st?....what time will it go live on the 1st?...like 12 midnight? -
when you buy am old Technic set do you wash all the parts and rebuild or do you swap out the old parts for new ones? personally when i buy an old set i try to swap out as many of the parts for new ones as possible, sometimes there is a mold update...so unless the new mold has a huge difference in design i end of using the new mold, just for the sake of having a new part. anything i cant find brand new i just wash and polish the parts as best i can, that was i have as close to a brand new set without actually buying it BNIB. on that note...my tyres from 8448 and 8458 are looking rather dull, is there any methos to make them shiny?

indeed...the Star Wars Hoth UCS set is also getting a pasting...... i will reserve judgement until i see Jim and Sariel's reviews.......... it looks amazing, has a superb collection of parts....even if one buy it for the parts and creates there own MOC's that should be enough. i personally will wait to see if i can get it at a reduced price....i am more interested in the BWE tbh. -
i am baffled by these instructions, meaning book 2....there are like 6 different models you can make, what i want to know is what model uses the most parts?...is it the wing door model? these old Lego instructions are very different to the modern ones, and each step has way more parts to put together.
