  1. Great looking buses! Are they RC? I think the first one is a bit more realistic. The second one looks good as well, but I think it would look better with side by side low/high beam headlights. This would be harder to incorporate though, and your model is still accurate since some of the Blue Bird buses had a combined low/high beam light. Also, here in the states, school buses have either red or red and amber flashing lights on the top. I've never seen one with just amber lights. Great looking buses!
  2. This is a great idea! I'd love to see something like this at some of the U.S. shows. We need a larger Technic presence here. You guys did an amazing job building the course. Very professional looking! [Edit: Spelling…..can't even spell a simple word]
  3. On the Airport Fire Truck, is there a new Technic piece on the water canon? I'm trying to figure out how the clutch extension piece is connected to the rest of the water canon base. Edit: Never mind, I discovered the zoom button on the picture, and it's not a new piece.
  4. The log loader is great, and I love the front of the Mobile Police Unit. Bummed about the trailer being 8 wide though. Same with the Police Patrol truck being 8 wide. The front of the tow truck is disappointing and could have easily been done better, but I really like it otherwise. I like the camper as well, although the misaligned fender pieces are a bit odd. Prisoner transport looks good too. I'll probably be buying the log loader, tow truck, prisoner transport, police patrol, and maybe the camper. I generally just buy the smaller sets, so I'll probably pass on the larger sets.
  5. Really great entry! Wonderful creation so far!
  6. Servo motor is no longer showing up on the U.S. S@H website. It was never available for sale, so maybe they decided to re-list it once it does become available for sale? That is my hope anyway.
  7. The plane looks awesome! It looks like it may have working ailerons and elevators, and I'd be tickled if it had a working rudder too. The 3 in 1 set is much better than I anticipated. It looks really good, and the design makes me wonder if Grohl had anything to do with it. The rest of the sets don't really interest me. The steering on the snowmobile looks like it would work terribly. I'm liking all the blue and white we are seeing in this year's sets. I love all the new parts too!
  8. I'm not familiar with the game, but it's always great to see an aviation related mod! This is great! I love all the functions.
  9. There are some really great entries thus far! It's great to see what people are coming up with! I know what I want to build, but I'm not sure I'll have enough time. I'm overseas now and won't have access to my LEGO until the 7th. I'll be cutting it close, but thankfully, my idea is fairly simple and will only have an XL and servo motor. Case?
  10. Really excellent crane! Not only does it look good, the number of functions is fantastic!
  11. This contest sounds great! The triple theme is a fantastic idea for a competition. I've got something small in mind that I may be able to whip up during Thanksgiving holiday.
  12. The plane sounds great! Hopefully it will have full flight controls (flaps, elevators, rudder, and ailerons), but it probably won't. Sounds great though, and all the white parts will be wonderful.
  13. Looks good! I'm bummed that I'm going to miss BrickCon this year.
  14. Welcome to the forum! Your web links aren't working. Do you have any of the specialized front hubs? Maybe from sets 8070 or 42000?
  15. The m and XL motors are pretty cheap compared to what LEGO motors used to cost. Even the L motor is cheaper than the old motors. IIRC, the old LEGO motors cost $16.99, and that was 10+ years ago. Sure, I wish the L motor was cheaper, but $14 isn't too bad.
  16. I'm not sure either, but my best guess is the sliding part somehow puts tension on the differential. When the shuttle leaves, the 24t gear needs to spin freely. The sliding mechanism keeps the differential from spinning once the shuttle is docked and directs the power to the other mechanisms. When it's time for the shuttle to leave, the differential is released, and the 24t gear is free to spin as the shuttle leaves. At least that's my best guest. From what I can tell, the crane is lifted up and down by the trapezoid slider that goes beneath it. The only thing the vertical chain does is connect the lift to the counter weight. The stuff that Akiyuki comes up with is amazing. I'm always impressed with perfect timing that his machines have.
  17. I've been looking over the instructions, and I think the L motors would definately fit, but not without modifications. With the L motors being 1 stud longer, the black 3x11 panel on the rear will have to be removed or pushed back 1 stud. I don't recall what motors power the tracks, but I think it's the far left motor and the one next to it. If this is the case, the side panels will be very close to the motor, but I think there will barely be enough room. Replacing 2 of the m motors with L motors seems like a good idea to me. EDIT: Forgot to say that the L motors would have to be mounted sideways.
  18. Some great ideas there, and I think a brown hot rod would be nice. Looks like the hot rod will be blue though. Per post 40, the truck will be a rear load and helicopter will have tandem rotors, similar to a Chinook. Paul_Delehaye has seen pictures and has give us some good info on the models back on page 2, post 40.
  19. This is amazing! Love the truck chassis tucked away in the corner.
  20. Anybody know what the salary for a LEGO designer is?
  21. Welcome! Nice job with the truck, and I love the old-school tires!
  22. Overall, I'd say yes, but that depends on what you like to build. If you build cars or white mocs, then this is a good set. If you build construction equipment, then probably not. I built one for somebody else but have not yet purchased one for my collection. I do plan to buy one, just not at the moment.
  23. Back around 2000 I lost interest when LEGO Town sets started getting really plain. I remember some of the sets using stickers or printed bricks for headlights, and most of the sets were blocky and hand unrealistic looking designs (trans blue windshields for example). I was really dissapointed with the direction LEGO was going, and I basically quite collecting. I think I did buy a couple of star wars sets and maybe a Technic set during my "dark ages", but not much else. Thankfully I never sold any of my sets. Also, I left home to go to school, and I left all my LEGO in storage. I had no intention of getting back into LEGO, but around 2008 or 2009, my parents bought me a LEGO set that was supposed to be a gag gift. I was impressed with the set and what LEGO had to offer. Little did they know that set would re-spark my interest in LEGO. Now I collect mostly Technic and some City sets. Unfortunatly, I haven't been able to build any mocs in over a year. I left my home state in June of 2012 and have been on a road trip since then. I've logged over 25,000 miles on my vehicle exploring the back roads of the United States, camping and staying with friends since then. I did bring some mocs along to display at a couple of LEGO shows, but otherwise, I haven't built anything in over a year. I'm itching for a good LEGO build though!
