  1. Just so you know, you can post larger images on EB. How big are you planning on making this fort?
  2. sipka, I highly recommend checking out the help topic that discusses posting images on the forum and the FAQ for any other questions you may have about Eurobricks. There is a lot of great detail in this MOC, so I'm posting a lot of the pictures I found in the Flickr folder.
  3. Agreed. I like the flushed deck layout. Where did you get your figurehead? I don't have a Mr. Shiny, a person with ADD like myself should get one. Has the captain's quarters been furnished in any way?
  4. Thanks for the comments. I'm still sorting and unpacking my Lego, so I couldn't find a head with white bangs. I have always thought that the official cannons are much too large for prefab-hulled ships that aren't minifig illusion scaled. There are two ladders that go down to the gun deck, and the stairs to the quarter deck is the same as the original BSB. I'm curious to know what you mean by modern looking. Benny needed a ride looking for his lost dog. My 3 year old daughter thought that the rock monster would look perfect with the crew. There was a four, rounded toothed gear that I used and it fits very nicely against the steering wheel.
  5. 171C It's a MOC that's been years in the making! ...years in storage that is. I had almost completed her right before placing it in storage a few years ago. It's not quite complete. I really wanted to have the original BSB sails on it. For now, its got paper sails. The intent for this MOC is the keep the look of the BSB, but give it some upgrades. The Armada has been getting weary of their merchant vessels getting taken by pirates and privateers. They've hired the Evil Captain Phred to take on any vessels and supplied him with a merchant vessel that has been refitted and crewed to take on any pirate vessel. Here's the figurehead and bow. No silliness was involved in the creation of this MOC. Here's the stern. The captain's gig is now pulled out of the water. Here's the gun deck. It features four 9-pounders, which are some pretty big guns to be placed on such a small vessel. Especially four of them. Here's the crows nests. Some Caribbean locals have brought along their journalist along. Here's a wonderful view of the Evil Captain Phred. And the navigator. Who seems to love drinking rum on the job. Here's the captain's cabin. It's currently occupied by a regional governor. Here's another view of the captain's cabin. As you can plainly see, he's on his laptop again for some reason. Here's the entire crew. I was told that one of them is a Red Coats spy, but I am not sure which crew member that would be. * * Access below deck is similar to the original BSB, which means it's not used. Both anchors are fully functional. * Access to the captain's cabin is similar to the original BSB too. The helm and rudder are fully funtional. * Enjoy! Comments and criticism welcome.
  6. Nice vessels LtFalcon. It appears you need some role-playing rules like Brikwars 2010.
  7. I'm looking forward to the final vessel. I would try to use whatever you have to break up the black. Use a nice bright color for the stripe along the gun deck(s), different colored rail that the rigging mounts onto, and fancy railing is really all you may need. In the end, do whatever you want. They should go right on the mid-sections of the prefab hull below the gun ports is where I was thinking. Here's an extreme example in the HMS Leopard: The prefab hull is widened from 16 studs to what appears to be 22 studs wide.
  8. I'm going to guess something super-duper top secret is going on. It's got to be a conspiracy!
  9. I would love to continue this conversation, but I don't want to take the conversation in this topic away from BB7622's MOC. Kurigan, you could open up another topic about gun sizes or resurrect and old one. This topic has been discussed before: Admiral Bejaune had topic back in 2008. Or you could drop a response in the Index of Cannons Discussion. Some nut eons ago also wanted to talk about this too.
  10. You know actual ships the size of your whaler had only four or so cannon that are smaller than the official Lego ones. I've a ship in the works that size that's going to have 2 6-pounders and a 9-pounder on a swivel. I like to think of the official cannons as 18-24 pounders
  11. Read through your profile overview today during my lunch break. I like your progression of hull and rigging designs. I look forward to seeing more creations from you. I must admit I too have a bias against LDD MOCs until relatively recently. I've seen some great models done in LDD and have even studied those MOCs for inspiration.

  12. I hope you're right for the sake of the Pirates theme. I believe POTC 4 was the reason for Pirates 2009 being discontinued. With a new POTC movie we could see the same thing. Discontinue the Pirates theme for a licensed theme. Have a couple of waves of the licensed theme. Then, discontinue the licensed theme. In the end, no pirate theme (again).
  13. Goliath, You may want to check out instructions for actual sets to see how they're built. My personal favorite is the Black Seas Barracuda, but the types of bricks you have available could dictate your vessel type and style. Those three types of bricks will get you this far. There are a large variety of ways to build up the vessel beyond that. Yes, that is typically what is done on the bow. The rudder can look a lot like the Black Seas Barracuda's rudder. Now for the captain's cabin, there is a whole list of things you could do that depend upon what type of vessel it is and what era of sailing vessels.
  14. Do you know how hard it was to read that last post with ADD. I love your progression of ship building techniques. If you don't have a timeline to complete your MOCs, then maybe you need to show off your MOCs at a Lego convention. I only know of Brickworld in Illinois and Indiana. There's a lot of people in New England area, so there's bound to be a large Lego convention over there somewhere.
  15. BB7622, I believe that your post format is perfectly fine. I've always wanted to build a whaler. It's nice to see great representation of a nonmilitary vessel. Nice work! All that's missing is the boiler stove.
  16. I'm sure Lego pirates are still being released. Probably not until March or April for most areas. I don't believe TLG would go through the trouble of designing an entire theme with new molds, and create a website that contains images and video for each set to cancel it all last minute.
  17. This kind of bumping is actually encouraged. Welcome to Eurobricks, and I look forwardto see more MOCs from you.
  18. Those look really good. It's been forever, but do you have a 3d printer to make actual figs like this? I could see these in some real sets. Do any of these guys need epaulettes?
  19. You could easily get a small brick-built fleet of vessels of your choosing. I recommend small brick-built hulls and maybe even using bow bricks from BL. You could get a nice small merchant vessel built. Your masts could also be brick built or axle/technic. Yard arms could also be axles or plates. For sails, you could wander to a fabric store and pick up some fabric for your sails and cut them yourself (see tutorial). Or in the past, I've made them out of paper. Your cannon could be small brick-built ones too. Here is my personal favorite. Notice that none of these ideas require expensive, long- retired bricks that you can build cheaply. And you may even have most of the bricks you need already.
  20. Since you're potentially going to be tweaking the design a lot, I've got some recommendations for your vessel. Please don't take this to mean that I dislike your vessel. Any MOC we post could use some improvements. One of my first ships I posted on this forum was rainbow colored, and I haven't even posted a new ship in a few years. I think vessel will look a lot better with the black being broken up by dark bley, although reddish-brown would look nice too. You could add a third color (or use dark bley) that is a stripe along the gun ports on both decks. Similar to the yellow strip(s) on the example image I've posted below. I would highly recommend adding Tumblehome to your vessel. Tumblehome is "the narrowing of a ship's hull with greater distance above the water-line". To be able to use a lot of the bricks you're currently using, I would check out Captain Green Hair's Commander Red Hat's Ship Building topic. To keep the top of the deck from getting too narrow in pre-fab hulls I would use inverted slopped bricks right on the pre-fab hull pieces to widen your ship 2 to 6 studs before applying the tumblehome effect on a two-decker ship. Last, but not least, I would recommend making the stern of the ship more ornate. Add some fancy looking and colored bricks to the stern, and add some cool looking lanterns too.
  21. What kind of harbor or ship creation is this crew (headed and not) going to call home?
  22. The unofficial sets could be voted upon utilizing most of the criteria an actual set is reviewed such as Design, Minifigs, Parts, and Playability. Each voter giving 10 points in each category.
  23. Pirates of the Great Salt Lake Sets could include a mixture of Pirate and Town: A Jolly Old St. Nick row boat A modern yacht Modern Library Seafood Restaurant Pawn Shop Tandem Bike
  24. Great looking diorama! Looks like an epic scene from a Napoleonic movie.
  25. Are the 2x2 dome bricks supposed to be flowers? I like the jungle foil age, especially the use of the old styled palm tree leaves.
