Brethren of the Brick Seas?

What's a figbarf? Is the lack of morion helmets their limitation? -

Perfect! Maybe I could help populate the east with a settlement that is just barely existing. -
Book II - Nocturnus: Guild sign-up and Discussion
Capn Frank replied to ZCerberus's topic in Guilds of Historica
Hmmm... I did not expect to start a territorial war between Kaliphlin and Nocturnus. Are there any villages around the junction of Moruth Swamplands, mountains south of S'dak'l'vil'th's, and the forest along the coast of the Street of Cerberus? -
Book II - Nocturnus: Guild sign-up and Discussion
Capn Frank replied to ZCerberus's topic in Guilds of Historica
I'll be posting my Signature Figure soon. I probably have been putting too much thought into the character and his 'mighty men'. I was looking to start a village in a deep, remote valley of the Rakath Mountains between Goolag Archipel and The Fallen Angel. I was curious if someone else had 'dibs' in that area or what information has been established. From what I've read so far, not much is known. -
Brethren of the Brick Seas?
Capn Frank replied to Admiral Croissant's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I'm happy to see there is a lot of progress for Brethren of the Brick Seas (Should the topic title get changed?). There is way more than I anticipated. I really like what I see so far and look forward to seeing this thing launched. -
Well I didn't know that Lightningtiger is an authority in such matters, but I do trust him. Then, I guess cooked Gungans do taste like chicken.

There should be a competition where a moc needs to utilize the separator. No piece limits or size restrictions. Categories of MOCs are divided by the number of separators used.

I do have say, great work again! I would recommend building one out of real bricks and show it off at a Lego convention. A vessel like this would look better than anything I've seen in Chicago's Brickworld. If you like, you could send me this LXF file to post in this thread

I have no qualms with killing Jar Jar, only his taste. Nice work on the MOC btw, especially without using any islander sets.

Dreamweb, do I predict you sharing a MOD of this set once you get it? Price wise: = + Lets look at other comparisons respectfully. Minifigs: 4 Imperials & 2 Pirates vs. 4 Imperials, 3 Pirates, & Gov's daughter Pieces: 367 vs. 164 + 234 or 398 total Cannons: vs. + Minus the opinion of poor design from some folks, which I think both 2009 and 2015 pirate lines are close enough in "impressive" design, I do believe we are getting a better deal with two "mini-forts" compared to one big one. More figs, more pieces, and more cannons.

That's what I was hoping for. Can characters or a small group travel to other regions? -
Guilds of Historica New Member Guide
Capn Frank replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
Noob question: I was curious if there is a more drawn out discussion or topic about starting a race of wizards, mages, witches, or demi-gods? I'm not looking to have fireballs from their eyes or bolts of lightning from their bums, but I was thinking of a race of mortal demi-gods who are exceptional in both ability and wickedness.. -
Why are there less reviews than before on Eurobricks?
Capn Frank replied to kinggregus's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I've rarely done a review. Although I would like to do a bunch at some point soon. As mentioned already, you don't need to have a review "Academy Approved" to post it. If you want your review "Academy Approved" you need to meet high standards. The Reviewer Academy standards could also be recommendations for posting MOCs too. For example, I posted a Review of the Black Seas Barracuda on a navy blue couch. Now recently, I posted a MOD of the Black Seas Barracuda using a large white paper background. When I look at the images in these topics, my MOD images look way better and cleaner. When you work on making a better presentation with your MOCs, stuff should already be set up for reviewing sets. I didn't use anything too fancy for "photoshooting" the MOD either. I used: A 3 foot by 5 foot piece of paper. Masking tape to tape the paper to a wall. Borrowed an ottoman to set the MOC on. And a little suction cup monopod for my camera. I need to get a couple of directional lights from a thrift store for better lighting though, and stay away from calenders. For the record, I am not mature. -
I am a big fan of primarily white with yellow detail coloration of original imperial forts regardless of the realism. This MOC is full of nostalgia, which I think is good. I would try to blend the colors of your watchtower together better by adding yellow arches and 1x2 bricks to the top, white levels and bottom gray level or use only two colors. If you would like to add realism to this MOC or your future MOCs, all of the cannons should be at the ground level. A cannon on the watchtower could be used for signaling ships and would be a small caliber. If you check out Star Forts, you'll see that they rarely will have tall towers and all of their buildings are low profile behind the cannon wall defenses.

I agree, everything I want to buy is compared to getting a Lego Set instead. "Xbox One or UCS Death Star" (neither of which I can afford or buy, but I would prefer the Death Star hands down ) "Coffee or Minifig Series" etc. Nearly every time I do that, the Lego set usually wins.

Brethren of the Brick Seas?
Capn Frank replied to Admiral Croissant's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Kabel, SkaForHire did mention a 'we' in the recent conversation about this pirate guild, so that's at least two crewmen on board. How many crewman would there be needed for managing the guild? One for each faction? I wonder if Green Coats (Imperial Armada) would be associated and allied with the Blue Coats (Imperial Soldiers). The Teal Coats? The Red Coats (Imperial Guards) would be on their own. I am of course referencing the Spanish and French (Green and Blue) trying to take on the English (Red) in this arrangement. Would pirates need an entire faction? I guess they would if you referenced POTC. Each pirate ship is basically their own rogue faction, and sometimes pirates would turn privateer for an Imperial Faction and visa versa. If pirates/privateers are sometimes associated with a 'Teal' or Red Coat, then we'd really only need two crewmen or leaders or Governors? or Lords? to start. If this thing explodes, then maybe split factions into Blue, Green, Red, Pirates, ... (Orange?) down the road. Also, if factions and their leaders start to wane, then the 'stragglers' can join back up with another faction, retain their coat color. We could look to Sid Meier's Pirates for inspiration. Influence of the main countries in the Caribbean would change and so would their diplomacy. As for names of these countries, we could be uncreative and utilize a Latin (or some other language) translation of Armada, Soldier, Guard, and Pirate. Then add an 'ia or 'ton to the word. Armada (Spanish for Fleet) -> classis (Latin) -> Classia or The Classish Empire Guard -> praesidium (Latin) -> Praesiton or The Praesidish Empire Soldier -> bellator (Latin) -> Bellatoria or The Bellatorish Empire Tada! Country names. -
I've always liked this set. I really wish it had come with more pieces for its price. I remember seeing rainbows when building this set too, but it all comes together very nicely. Even though TLG was thin on the pieces for this set, it does contain a lot of detail. Cargo net and "crane", cat heads & anchor, movable main sail, great looking MF's, and compass. If TLG had been a little more piece-full, then the rigging rail could have been built better, proper figurehead, and a more ornate stern.

I've always wanted to attempt a brick built bow of a long boat using a couple of those bricks.

I had rebuilt her after being in storage for a few years. Lets just say I was not impressed with the design of this set. I believe the Cross Bone Clipper is the only ship that's worse in set design. And that ship is terrible. Cons: The masts and yard arms are poorly done. Attaching all of the yard arms to a 2X plate is a poor solution to the type of mast pieces used. I am also not a fan of axels and technic connectors being used for the yard arms and the mizzen mast. The way that the jib is mounted looks awkward to me. As already mentioned in the review, the rudder is pretty pathetic. There is no hope of utilizing existing pieces to make a better and/or working rudder. The captain's cabin is very plain, which is where a lot of detail should have been. There is no deck or even gangway planks over the gun deck. No captain's gig. Not enough cannons and no wheels on the cannons it comes with. Pros: Captains cabin is enclosed. The colors of the sails, pre-fab hull pieces, and other bricks used in the set are awesome. The ship is just screaming to get modded, which is what I hope to do at some point to fix all of my cons with the set. I would definitely recommend this set to anyone that wants a Modded Black Pearl or wish to build a MOC utilizing a lot of the great pieces that come with the set. I don't recommend building the set and not changing it.

This modern version looks good. I'm really not a fan of the new palm trees. I think the new sets should come with something better.

Brethren of the Brick Seas?
Capn Frank replied to Admiral Croissant's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
You could have peaches built into the story -
I've never done this before in the forum, but theoretically it should work. Here's the LXF file for download.

Are you able to email the file? I'll post the lxf file for this ship. Or you could use a free cloud service like dropbox. It's the best Xebec I've seen, and much better than anything I've built.

Thanks for sharing your sail making experience with us Israel Hands. I really like the use of pre-treated artist canvas and will be looking to buy some in the near future.

I have always had this building technique in mind since I saw Slyowl's vessel in the Imperial Trading Post Ship competition. This style of building produces some beautiful lines, but it's too studly for my tastes. The black "covers" the studs pretty well though. I was checking out your vessel and I was wondering if you could replace the "rubber bands"? with string or thread that is thin enough for you to place tiles over those studs? If you build a sister ship, I would use the more recent, rectangular rigging from the POTC ships instead the old trapezoidal rigging.
