Much better now , but don't insert another entry, modify the previous one. Note that as the new version is heavily modified, you could provide the previous file too as an extra. I can suggest you another thing, if you didn't do that already: use groups feature of LDD in order to unify brick build solutions you created to replace missing bricks. If you want, this time, I can do the work for you.

About the rules of the topic, everything seems to be fine Great work with brick built models, you can add that to the [KEY TOPIC] LDD custom bricks, if you want. About the last set, 8920 - Ehlek, it is heavily incomplete. what do you think to replace missing parts with custom bricks as you did for other sets, instead than have an incomplete set?

Brickset update October 2012 - 835.4
Calabar replied to pbk420's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
@Aanchir Have we got a list of decorations that are inside LDD and are not available with the decoration tool? With a complete list, we could ask TLG to make the decorations available with the next brickset update. -
@DenJansen Hi again! The database lost 5 days of activity, including the new users inscribed in that period. I thought we lost you! About your entries I reported here, if you prefer, I can "transfer" the content in a new post, if you create a specific one for that. About the user that make the render, could you provide some indication? Anyway, remember that in this topic renderings can be posted as links only (text links or reackable clicking the thumbnail).

Snap good quality screenshots in LDD
Calabar replied to Calabar's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I'm trying to find a way to automatize "crop and resize" functions. What I'd like to obtain is a simple procedure (could be even a "copy a file and double click on it") that take in input the original images from LDD and generate ready thumbnails. For windows I'm working with Irfanview, but it seems I've some problem with transparency. For MAC, I don't know if there is a free software that can achieve this goal. The procedure you listed above don't have a smart crop function, than it is not what I'm looking for. -
Snap good quality screenshots in LDD
Calabar replied to Calabar's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Exactly, if you want to outlines on Bricks, you have to enable all other advanced graphics features. The hight quality rendering of the palette is not so unuseful, anyway. The preview of the bricks are small, and often it is not easy to distinguish some pieces without the hight quality rendering. -
Question about decorations
Calabar replied to pbk420's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
It is limited to bricks that already supports decorations. -

There is a specific option called "Outlines on Bricks". You have to check the relative checkbox. -
Most wanted bricks for next LDD update
Calabar replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
You can't pick-a-brick even with standard mode. The "Design by Me" feature has been removed from LDD some time ago. You should consider LDD as a CAD software, not as a way to buy bricks from LEGO. It as not this feature anymore. -
Hi and welcome among Official Sets in LDD contributors. Only one note: "personal alterations" are not allowed here, the set have to be similar to the original one as much as possible. Obviously you can provide your modified version as an "extra", downloadable in a separate file. EDIT A second note: the preview image is oversized and not cropped, the maximum size allowed here is 512x512 for big sets. You can find all the rules of this thread in its first page. Here instead you can find a guide for good quality screenshots in LDD.

LDD 4.3.5 Custom Decorations
Calabar replied to kangmingjie's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
@kangmingjie I've a bad and (perhaps) a good news for you. The bad news is that it is not possible to add custom decorations in LDD if not hacking the software. We debated for a long period about that, and as you can read in the Section Rules has been decided to don't provide support for this kind of operations that violate LDD EULA. As hrontos told you, all brick definitions and decorations are internal resources of LDD, and then, to add a new decoration, you need to modify the internal database. The good news is that it is possible to create hight quality images based on .lxf files, and in these images you can replace LDD decorations with custom decorations. You can do that using LDD2PovRay software. -
LDD Parts list for your MOC
Calabar replied to Ozrik's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Take a look at the section index here: you will find a list of utilities, perhaps there is what you are looking for. For PaB, perhaps is this what are you asking for? -
Build for LDD(LDraw) or Build for IRL ?
Calabar replied to Methos's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Check this topic, as you will see the argument is not totally new, and a "physics" is one of the desired features for LDD5. A feature we probably will not see, but desired feature for LDD users, anyway. I think there are more chances to see it implemented, in the future, in alternative software for LDraw ecosystem, such as SR3D Builder. About your problem, you have two ways: - try to built the structure of your MOC with real bricks ( don't mind of colours or details, the main structure only) to test it. - use techniques already experimented in other creations, such as official sets or mocs. Official sets are usually really robust, and uses few extreme techniques, so I suggest you to check their instructions. -
It seems that not all the users are available for resume the lost entries, so I decided to post that by myself quoting the old posts. Here are the entries of DenJansen and peterski:

Error when opening LDraw
Calabar replied to SNIPE's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Windows XP don't uffically support DX 10. Remove DX 10 and try again. Perhaps the proper place where to report this problem is the SR3D Builder topic. -
@Flipz Good idea, the extension will replace the content of the div cke_toolbox with a new toolbox with the functionalities of the old one. The only problem is to find a volunteer fot that!

Element ID and Design ID LEGO uses specific IDs to distinguish their bricks. Design ID: 4-5 digit code that identifies a specific Brick, independently from its Material or its Colour. Element ID: 6-7 digit code that identifies a specific Brick in a specific Material or Colour. Other IDs Other databases on the web, such as Peeron or Bricklink, uses their own ID system to catalogue LEGO bricks. Often their ID match with LEGO Design ID, but in some cases IDs are very different. That usually happens with special bricks or variations of previous released bricks. Some notes: Peroon IDs: the IDs that start with "x" don't match with LEGO IDs. Bricklilnk IDs: the application LDD manager maps a complete conversion among LEGO IDs and Bricklink IDs.

In this topic you can ask help if you don't find a piece in LDD. You can also ask here about any doubt regarding part IDs, duplicate parts and the use of a specific part present in LDD. Before asking, try the hints listed below. Ensure that the Extended Mode is active The extended mode allow access to all the bricks included in LDD in each colour. To activate Extended Mode go to: Menu -> View -> Theme -> Extended Mode . . . [Image] Use the Search Field The search field is the textfield above the Bricks Palette. . . . [Image] Enter there the ID of the brick you are looking for, or any plausible word that could identify the brick you are looking for. Note that the IDs and the descriptions in LDD are the official LEGO ones, and could differ from those you can find consulting other sources such as Bricklink, Peeron, etc... Check the work of other users As last resource, check the index of the Official LEGO Sets made in LDD topic looking for the sets that uses the part you need. If you find it you can select it and read its Design ID in the bottom bar, then easily find it using the LDD integrated search function. Other Useful Tools LDD Part Finder (beta) Could be you can find useful this little software developed by the user DrFalken. You can find more informations here. Bricklink and LDD Manager If you know a set that uses the brick you are looking for, you can: - Obtain the part ID from Bricklink - Use the "Brick Finder" function in LDD Manager to convert the Bricklink ID to the LEGO Element ID Otherwise you can use LDD manager function "Search for attributes".
