Unfortunately transparent bricks are very heavy to render. You could try the bbqqq trick assembling three separate sub-renderings. Take a look at it here. There is obviously the chance to lower the quality of transparent bricks, but about that wait the suggestions of other users expert in using powray. Or maybe you can find something in the powray guide linked in the Section Index (look among pinned topics for the index).

Vespids: Next Generation 'Stealth Wasp' Hover Gunships
Calabar replied to xenologer's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Well, finally here is the still missing White Vespid for 7700. I've to say that reproduce this model was much easier then the previous one, whose construction was much more tricky. Link to the galley: click. Link to the single images: Top, Bottom, Side, Top Oblique, Top Front, Bottom Front, Cabin Top, Disassemble Top, Disassemble Bottom, Subassemblies, Subassemblies Side, Subassemblies Oblique. I've created a digital model too, in three variations: The original one, as much similar as possible to the xenologer model. Screenshot. LXF File. A slightly modified version, a little less sturdy but (I hope) a little bit good looking. The images of the gallery are taken from this model realized in real bricks. Screenshot. LXF File. An Hybrid version, that takes side panels and few other elements from the original Stealth Wasp (the official alternate model). Screenshot. LXF File. EDIT: I added a sub-gallery with some photo of the Hybrid version. -
Recently I've tried LDD on some machines with an Intel Graphic processor (not the last ones, anyway, but the previous Intel HD) on Window systems. It seems that enabling advanced graphics and bricks outlines almost all bricks become transparent. Few bricks that are not transparent assumes an amorphous bunch of pixels shape. It seems a driver related problem. Has anyone found a way to work around the problem? Has someone an Intel HD Graphics and no problems?

Will you prepare an "index of entries" with images/thumbnails or the gallery will be the topic itself?

How to remove bricks limit in LDD?
Calabar replied to Legolac's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
It is not a fixed limit, in fact it changes according to the computer capabilities. So there is nothing to remove. Simply LDD is not thought for large projects, so in that cases can fall into crisis and crash! The only things you can do is use LDD on a more powerful machine and lower graphic settings. Otherwise you are forced to split you projects in smaller parts.- 3 replies

This is due to the "fake" direct link provided by dropbox. You used a download manager or "right click -> save link" instead than simply click on it: this would open the download page. PS: links would be more comfortable, for a next time!

You can use brickshelf or bricksafe, that allow to host files related to LEGO. -
Lego Classic Clock and Intelli Car
Calabar replied to Chas's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
If the model has been released from LEGO it is official. If the pdf contains official instructions (and not other kind of instruction, for example created using lpub or a sequence of photos), instructions are good too. Could you link the pdf instructions and some kind of resource that shows that these sets are official? PS: the images you posted are oversized, the maximum size allowed here in the forum is 1024x768. You could crop the images to fit the maximum size. PPS: if you will post these sets in the official topic, read carefully the rules in the first page and take a look at other posts as example. -
I think that Superkalle wants to understand if this discussion is related to LDD (and then digital build techniques, difficulties, opinions about technical choices, discuss choices from the perspective of the contest, etc...) or the MOC itself (a simple presentation of your model). In the second case, the right section for the topic is the relative theme section (probably "LEGO Town", in this case).

Lego Classic Clock and Intelli Car
Calabar replied to Chas's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Hi Chas, and welcome from me too. I'm not sure I've understood your request (I'm not native English, and your post is not so easy to translate). If you want to post your entries in the LDD Official Set topic, be sure the sets respect the rules of the topic. If these sets are official, released and official instructions are available, I don't see any problem. Could you provide some reference (images, links... to better understand what you are speaking of)? -
Vespids: Next Generation 'Stealth Wasp' Hover Gunships
Calabar replied to xenologer's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Here is my vespid for 7701. Link to the galley: click. Link to the single images: top, bottom, side right, side left, bottom oblique, top oblique, top front, top back, nose, side open, disassemble top, disassemble side, disassemble cabin top, disassemble cabin bottom, disassemble cabin side, minions drones army. Link to the lxf file: click. Screenshot: click. About the lxf files, unfortunately the replacement of the parts 47314 is too cumbersome and don't fit in the model, so I slightly moved it. Little extra: with the leftovers, I organized a little army of minions drones. -
Vespids: Next Generation 'Stealth Wasp' Hover Gunships
Calabar replied to xenologer's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
As xenologer seems to be away from the forum, I made some other try and I've built a WIP model. There are some main issues still: 1) Part of the internal structure occupies the pilot's cabin 2) I can't find a good way to attach the side slope 47457 3) I've difficulties to recreate the internal structure Here is the related gallery. Any suggestion/help? EDIT: I think I've found a good solution. Surely the model is a bit different from the original one, because I used some parts that I can see among the leftovers. I'm not happy about one of the side panels, I've to weaken it too much in order to complete the structure. The other one, instead, is sturdy enough thanks to the black plate 1x4 (unfortunately, there wan only one of that). Detailed photos soon... I hope (and maybe an lxf file). -
[Software] MecaBricks - Online Design Tool
Calabar replied to Scrubs's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
@sprucerocks31 This means that your system don't supporto WebGL, necessary for MecaBricks to work. Sometime this is due to the browser (WebGL have to be supported by the Browser), so the website redirect you the the main pages of the browsers that supports WebGL. To understand where is the problem, could you report here operating system, video card (and its driver version) and browser you are using? -
@Elog The entry is almost fine, thanks. I took the liberty to fix the list (you used a list for each point instead than a single list with more points) and the set's link in brickshelf (a direct link instead than a search link). Even if the set is not huge, the 512x size is adequate because it is very "cumbersome" (otherwise size such as 448 or 416 would be more adequate). The only issue is that the image is not cropped horizontally: you should remove the blank vertical stripes on the left and on the right side.

Hi Elog, and welcome in the LDD Official Set topic. You can use a file hosting service specific for LEGO files, such as brickshelf or bricksafe. Once the files has been uploaded, you can direct link them in this topic. Please, don't forget to carefully read read the rules of this topic (in the first page) before posting. Take a look at other regular entries too, as examples.

LDD removing bricks upon opening a file
Calabar replied to Cara's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
The problem is due to the fact that LDD, when opens a file, check brick connections stricter than during the building process. So bricks that pass the check when you are building your creation could be removed when you later re-open the file. Note that if a brick is removed there is a collision error or same kind of illegal building, unless we are faced with a bug of LDD. You can try a fine tuning of the part (see the LDD Tricks topic) in order to avoid the collision error, if possible, or you can simply try a less extreme solution for your building. -
This is one of my favourite LEGO castle set, maybe the favourite one. I have always tried to buy it, but I was always discouraged because of the high price. Recently I got some new parts, and I decided to try a reconstruction. The result is quite well: I only miss the flag (that I think to temporarily replace with a standard black flag with printed decals) and one of the angular wall (that I replaced with a black one with collage red adesive, and the result is not bad!). I miss the yellow black falcon shield too, but it should be easier to replace (in the meantime I used a blue one I had). Thanks for the review. My vote in the poll is "superb".

Best computer spec?
Calabar replied to grum64's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
FullHD for a 13,3" is very hight definition, maybe you could have some problem with windows desktop (I hope the situation will be improved with the upcoming update one for Windows 8.1). What's the technology of the display's panel? The 840 EVO has not the performance, the warranty and the endurance of a high-range SSD. If an 840 EVO is high-range, what 840 Pro or Plextor M6S are? Uber hight? In my opinion it is one of the worst mid-range SSD due to the TLC cells. But it has a good performance/price ratio.
