  1. LDD contains only a part of bricks created by LEGO, maybe that brick simply is not present in LDD. Look at this page (the set 8070 contains that part): if you find the brick there you should retrieve an adequate Design ID that you can use with the search function integrated in LDD. EDIT: is the part this one? Try then with the Design ID 50301.
  2. Thanks Aanchir for the answer. I understand perfectly what you mean. I thought you use some kind of automatic mode, that allows you to obtain the result without wasting too much time. But maybe an explanation on methods you used to create the file could help other willing users to make a faster and accurate work. Could you list the steps necessary to create the file?
  3. Both me and bbqqq have a windows tablet with windows 8 (acer iconia w500), but I never used gesturekeys. You could try StrokesPlus, it should support touch gestures. I downloaded it time ago, but I never tried it. you could be a good guinea pig.
  4. About finding bricks, try reading this guide. It is not possibile to add or modify parts in LDD. About exporting parts, it is possible but I'm not expert, so wait the answer of some other user.
  5. Recently bbqqq extimated that there is a limit due to the number of polygons involved. See the topic LDD crashes over 40-50 thousand bricks just below.
  6. @bbqqq What happened with your Flickr? Many images, including the "wall" with decorations and ids (necessary for this guide), is not available anymore. Any chance to see it again?
  7. I've seen that the decorations file uses brickset 835.3, that is very old. Any chance to see an updated decorations file?
  8. This is due to a misunderstanding. I thought his entry was a fixed version of your file, so I told him he can't post it as it was a new entry. But he created the model from the scratch, so the entry is perfectly regular. In order to show sets in the thumbnail, LDD have to load the whole model from the lxf file. This causes in many cases LDD to hang, drastically slowing the startup of the applications. Maybe that because of the big size of the file, LDD "decided" to don't load it to avoid problems. Otherwise, maybe you downloaded the lxfml file instead the lxf file.
  9. That's enough for me. If the set is your, you have full rights to post it as you did. I was fooled by all the talk you did about kcoon work. PS: Note that there is no need to report it is a duplicate anymore, because now that's managed by the Index Manager. Good choice to make it clickable (I do this way myshelf ), but the showed image is the one that really counts. The image is not irregular, but for such a big set a full 512x size is surely much better. I will modify a bit your post to make it more readable.
  10. Wait... you can't take the work of another builder and post it again, unless he/she is unavailable or he decided to don't update his work and delegates you for it. If you want you can provide simply the file, so that the original builder can update his entry, but you can't submit it as a new entry except under the conditions that I have explained before. PS: such a small image for such a big set?
  11. @vean Remember to deal with alternative versions as full separated sets. I've edited your post to fix the problem and some other little thing. About images, remember to try to compact objects inside the scene, this time they are a bit scattered.
  12. Aehm!!! As I suggested to other users, ammass a group of new entries and then post them together in a single post. EDIT: I'm starting to think that my poor English has struck again! Fixed the sentence in the quote! I'll update the rules during the next Index update.
  13. I'm noticing that in this set there are too many missing parts. Minifigures are very incomplete, decorations has not been replaced when possible (not even the faces with the classic generic minifig face!), hairpiece for a minifig is missing, Lord Business' hat is completely missing instead then replaced with a brick build solution, and what about hair and legs on the right? Is it another minifigure? (EDIT: ok, extra pieces. Thanks Cult_Of_Skaro for the answer) If missing parts is not repleced somehow, the set is considered incomplete. PS: in this set is very evident, but I see that other sets have similar problems too.
  14. @Sjuip, @Gnac Remember, when you have more sets in a single day, to try to "amass" them and post them together. This helps me for indexing.
  15. Maybe bevels add a great number of polygons, making the scene much more complex to render. Anyway usign bevels makes the rendering much more realistic, so if you want an hight quality render, I think you should maintain the option checked.
  16. Perfect, thanks! Very strange that instructions are not available on the LEGO website! PS: "blank stripes" seemed to me perfect to decribe that, but clearly it is not as understandable as I thought. I've to find some other way to clearly communicate the problem!
  17. Yes, blank vertical stripes! EDIT: Important! Two things again: The set results unreleased yet, and I can't find building intructions on le LEGO website. Could you provide official intructions (official pdf or scans) for this set? It would be bettere if you profive a direct link to the lxf file instead than a download page.
  18. Much better, thanks. You only forgot to remove vertical blank stripes when you cropped the image.
  19. Hi efferman, and welcome in the LDD Official Set topic. There is something to fix in your entry: Set's data has not been highlighted. The image is not well cropped. You should remove both horizontal and vertical stripes (do that before resizing the image). The set is huge, you can choose to use a bigger image, suggested size from 448 to 512 pixel width. The set appears incomplete, due to the lack of very evident parts. You can try to replace them missing parts alternatives ot brick build solutions. Otherwise the set will be tagged as incomplete.
  20. A little surprise for me: I've installed it in a Mediacom tablet (dual core A9), it resulted compatibile in the Play Store. It works fine, but it is a bit laggy. A bit disappointed that animations are not interactive, while instructions are.
  21. @BEAVeR As you can see in the index, sets like those you are speaking of has been already posted. If the set is official and official building instructions are available, it is allowed in this topic, with few exceptions. The sets in this case will be indexed under the "Idea Book" theme. Anyway it is preferable to build "classic" sets (and not only because these sets requires more work to be indexed! ).
  22. There is even more to say about groups and building instructions. As hrontos discover time ago (take a look at "Using groups to generate correct instructions" reference the in Section Index), the BI generator included in LDD can interpret specific directives that it is possible to generate starting from LDD Groups. Unfortunately poor tool regarding LDD Groups makes difficult to manage and correct the group structure from LDD GUI. Your technique is interesting because it don't requires external tools and long elaboration time, but it can't produce a pdf/html digital booklet.
  23. When I buy an old set, usually I'm ready to pay even over 20% for a set complete with BI (and maybe the box). I consider BI as a sort of "certificate". Anyway I don't think that the saved money would be even near 20%, maybe 5% or less. And I don't think that in TLG want to save money for this, the price of the set is only partially due to costs. And the miss of BI could have a greater impact on final price greater than the money that has been saved because you don't realize it.
  24. I think that there is another simple reason why building instruction will not be dismissed: instructions are a sort of "proof" that you acquire a LEGO set instead than assemble it in other ways. Many people threw out boxes, but keep building instructions, because they occupies a limited space and are useful, so today can be considered part of the set itself.
