LEGO LotR - general discussion
Risgrynsgrot replied to General Magma's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I'm pretty sure that we're done with Tolkien Movies for the nearest future, since I'm pretty sure they only have movie rights to Hobbit and LOTR, rest of the rights is with the Tolkien Family which absolutely HATES the Jackson movies. I'm 99 % certain that LOTR is deader than dead, my only slight glimpse of hope is by some kind of miracle we'll get some sets next Summer. Very slim chance tough.. -
I still think that DGB looks nothing like Dol Guldur, but it looks decent enough if you put it with DGA and the Witch-King battle. I got DGB for about 40 % off so I can't complain

Faramir in Ranger gear, since you can easily swap the heads with a Gondor Soldier to get "Gondor Armor Faramir" -
So I caved in and got the Lonely Mountain set since I found it at a decent price, gonna wait and build it after I get my teeth drilled next week as a treat. So did any of you guys skip on any sets? I didn't get Riddles in the Dark because I would have gotten several Bilbos and a Gollum with a slightly different facial expression wasn't interesting. I also skipped on the Goblin Town set because I didn't like that part of the movie, nor the set (I did bricklink the dwarves tough) I'm also thinking about skipping the Mirkwood Elf Army set, it's incredibly overpriced here (around 60 bucks) and just bricklink Thranduil, since a generic wall doesn't seem interesting, it also didn't even appaer in the movies..

List of Star Wars sets that are retiring!
Risgrynsgrot replied to Something_Awesome's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Weird how The V-Wing and the Vulture Droid is already retiring. They're not even a year, surely sets use to stay around longer? Maybe they've sold really, really bad. And I agree, I can't see another OT X-Wing in the nearest years however I'm positive that there's gonna be a New Trilogy X-Wing soon that obviously will differ a bit from the OT one. -
Great review! In-depth, beautiful pictures.. As for the set - Ew Just one minifigure (I don't count the static Endermen) and a pretty boring Dragon, and some tan plates and three black pillars. 70 bucks? Quite a small set for that price. Even a die-hard Minecraft fan would hesitate purchasing this..

Speaking of the Two Black Gates.. How do build the double one? Is it just a matter of building two copies of the Black Gate set (I know that you build the rock, the tower and the wall-part separately) and put them together like one massive gate or do you actually have to freebuild it? -
I'm thinking about getting some sets. I have a bunch of different sets I'm more or less interested in. 1) 79007 Black Gate. I already have one of these, but I want to get another one so I can make a proper Gate. I'd sell the unique figures, so I would probably bricklink some other minifigures, maybe Orcs, Battle Droids or fleshie Pirates.. 2) 75052 Mos Eisley Cantina The last of the OT sets I need to get from the latest wave.. 3) 79013 Lake-Town Chase & 79016 Attack on Laketown I want to get some Hobbit Displays too and I really liked this part of the movie, so I was thinking about getting these two together.. 4) 79018 The Lonely Mountain The big one. But I'm not sure since I think this is gonna get lower than what I currently have found it for.. Also I'm mostly interested in Smaug, the figs are eh..

Cool display! I like how you have all the fellowship in the Mines of Moria, and the dwarves in front of the Bag End. I'd like pics on your other displays too, even the unfinished one!

I'd be against the minifigure run.. 1) I want a balrog and a fell beast! 2) The minifigures would be the nasty chinese crap quality, I want danish plastic! 3) Is it egen possible? LEGO cant make a Star Wars minifig line because theyd count as action figures, and LEGO doesnt have a license for that, some other company has. Id assume LOTR is the same. -
Marvel Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussion
Risgrynsgrot replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
You what? He looked kinda douchey, but he was a blast. The kitchen scene was by far the best part out of the entire movie. Also Scarlet Witch (or a mention) was in the movie, but cut. And Aron-Talor whatever that portrays him in Age of Ultron has the same charisma as a wooden board. Have you seen Godzilla? He's horrible. -

Ultron with human eyes/lips look really akward, hopefully it's just one of the earlier "bodies" until he gets his final, iconic look. And I agree, I definitively imagine what kind of sets there will be when I saw the trailer. I'm expecting that they'll differ the Ultron Drones and Ultron himself by having the drones the light blue tone and Ultron red. -
I do think that 75055 is the better, even tough the size of 6211 is really nice the much better proportions (6211 is way too tall) of the 75055 and the fact that you can actually swoosh it around without risking destroying it makes it an easy choice - 75055 is the best! Also are you from the future? Where I am it's a 8 year gap between 2006 and 2014, not 12.

What sets are those? I've deliberately skipped on most Hobbit sets due to both liking LOTR more and liking the design of the LOTR sets more (Only got the Unexpected Gathering from the first wave, and bricklinked the dwarves) because I mean, why would I display a pile of rocks (Riddles of the Ring), Some trees (escape from mirkwood) or a bigger rock/tree (Attack of the Wargs)? from the second wave I've gotten the Dol Guldur + Ambush sets, but I do feel that they're pretty weak too. I don't know why but I think that LOTR has alot more display value, stuff like Helm's Deep or the Black Gate is much more iconic. I Do however considering getting a Lake Town Chase + Attack on Lake Town and bricklink Smaug, but I'm not sure..

LEGO Star Wars 2015 Pictures and Rumors

Because it's based on the Genndy Tartakovsky Clone Wars, not the CGI Clone Wars. -

I'm doubting this... If the employee said that he is breaking some serious rules.. And where did he learn that? -

Wow, that is one big pile of crap! Just as expected. I can't believe that they didn't even give us 8 launchers, talk about cutting corners. And yes that IS the Clone Lieutenant from the polybag (however he now has printed legs) pretty weird don't you think? Eh, I'm still far to pleased with the awesome Azure Angel to be mad about the Hailfire Droid. -

That is one beautiful set. Definitively the gem of this wave! -
I wonder why there's so few prequel UCS sets. Does LEGO don't think that there's a market? Did UCS Obi-Wan's Starfighter sell badly?

I get that CCBS is the new standard for LEGOs buildable action figures, but the lack of Technic-based build really makes these look like crappy Hero Factory leftovers that they now have slapped on the Bionicle name and tries to sell them on nostalgia. Also I find that most of the colour schemes are pretty bad, and after the excellent Mech wave of Hero Factory these look really poor in comparison. I'm 100 % serious that people wouldn't be very excited at all if this was the next Hero Factory-wave instead of the return of Bionicle..

I can't wait for the Azure Angel - I love the Genndy Clone Wars cartoon! Weird that we get a set based on that when Disney has made it non-canon.. Well, if we get some non-Clone Wars Asajj that's good enough for me. -
And on the swedish S@H for 2199 SEK. Which is £189/240€/300$ We're the closest neighbours to Denmark but we keep ending up with the worst prices.

I'd say we're getting non CW-figures since they're using a normal Anakin for the preliminary even tough he exists in plenty Clone Wars-versions -

Yeah, 50 euro for 2 minifigs and what looks like around 300-350 pieces at most is ridicolous. -

I agree Phil, the last one was way too big, and I like the tan colour more than the dark blue. Yes I saw that, I think that the middle AAT has a too long "butt". Probably due to the bigger parts back then. I stand by my opinion, the new one is the best scaled one so far. I do wish that they had gotten some stickers to put on the front disks, it looks kinda naked without the launch tubes.
