LEGO LotR - general discussion

I'll grade it an F, more bad sets than good ones but really just the fact that we haven't gotten any Gondor sets and still lack some crucial characters is enough for a big fat F imo. -

The FF movies suck, and the new movie looks like it'll be even worse - however, I'm a big FF fan and I'd LOVE a comic based set! Just imagine a wacky set with the complete FF, the Fantasticar, and some cool villain we haven't got yet like Annihilus or the Super Skrull.. -
Man, Lego is really rubbing it in our faces by this point. I don't even bother getting mad

Marvel Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussion

From the one shot we have of it with the Mini Quinjet I do believe that it's going to be more like the SSD, a model. It does have the cannons from Captain America: The Winter Soldier, so I think we're gonna get Nick Fury, Mariah Hill, Coulson, Captain America and Falcon. Maybe they'll impress and have the top part removable and having a nice play area similar to the newest SD, maybe then we'll get some SHEILD personel too.. -

Yeah, the reveal of the Helicarrier is imminent. What kind of set are you hoping for? A playset like the Death Star (albeit slightly less parts and minifigs) or more of a model, kinda like the Sandcrawler? -

The ride never ends! I saw two Uruk-Hai army sets in my local toy store for 50 euros a piece, it's pricey but I'm still thinking if I should pick them up.. It feels like once they're gone the aftermarket prices gonna be massive, yet I already have 3 of them (plus extra figures) but on the OTHER HAND a single Rohan Soldier is more than 10 euro on bricklink.. What do you think? -
About a week ago I got the Simpsons House and Metalbeard's Sea Cow at 50 % off. I'll probably never save that much money in one single purchase ever again.

79018 "The Lonely Mountain": What do you think?
Risgrynsgrot replied to BrickSev's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Well, I can't really add anything. Most other people have said what I think about it. It's nice, but very overpriced. Doesn't matter that Smaug costs much, it still feels overpriced. Lack of Thorin is appaling, you get the arkenstone and the throne of Erebor but no King under the mountain? However like the others have stated it IS a nice set, lots of delicious sand green and pearl gold, Smaug (playmobil dragon aside) is the best molded creature LEGO has ever made (albeit I'm worried how his wings will stand the test of time, both the joints and the "skin" between his fingers) Like the others have said all the figs are nicely detailed, and unique in their own rights. I paid roughly 60 % of the RRP which I think was a reasonable price, but again it's up to you how much you're likely to pay.- 15 replies

LEGO Star Wars 2015 Pictures and Rumors
Risgrynsgrot replied to Erdbeereis's topic in LEGO Star Wars
This is, what, the fourth Naboo Starfighter? However all the recent ones were in my dark age, I'm not mad since I do think the NS is one of the most iconic prequel ships.. However, I do hope that they're making a chrome one, looks so much better than LGB and that would really warrant another version! -

Mosasaurus is way too big to be a molded one and not look silly. I mean its head is as big as the T-Rex. I don't think we'll get it, can't see it being a brickbuilt beast.- 1,412 replies

The Friends debate is DOA because the main thing is that Friends is specifically made to cater to and get money from the group of girls that don't like original LEGO. Hence the doll-like figures and bright, "girly" colours. Now the reason why some girls are drawn to this is an entirely different subject on it's own, and one that affects our society as a whole.

Marvel Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussion
Risgrynsgrot replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
Iron Man vs Ultron: Some good parts, exclusive Iron-Man AND 3 Drones for Army Building? Hell yes! Duel with Hydra: One of the two rehashes. The jeep looks okay, Thor is the same sans new arms, eh. Nice hair for Hawkeye. Will almost certainly skip. Avengers Quinjet Chase: This is the second rehash, to be fair this looks much sleeker than the old Quinjet. The new bike looks slick. And new hair is also pretty sweet. However I already have the old one so depending on what the figures will fetch on bricklink I may or may not pick this one up. Hulkbuster Rescue Mission: Big meh. The Hulkbuster looks bad, and is way too big. I was hoping that they'd would go for something more to scale with Hulk, using Mixel joints. Scarlet Witch is nice to get, but why the generic hair? I'd rather have some Iron Man that "flies into" the Hulkbuster than Ultron, BUT it looks like Ultron with the classic look so he's okay. I'll probably get it. Attack on Avengers Tower: Biggest let-down. I was hoping for a brickbuilt A, and more interior details. Now it just looks like a gray tower with lots of glass filled with exploding play features. The Iron Drones look ugly. I'll skip on it, sadly. Burglary at the Hydra Fortress: And the worst set! First off, WOW that price tag! Lots of big pieces for the "fortress", it's just a bad looking facade. The gun on the "tank" ruins the look. Quicksilver and Strucker is gonna get bricklinked. And if someone wants to tell me to stop being negative, please shut up! I'm the customer and I'm allowed to say what I think about stuff I'm supposed to pay money for. -

No, everyone is beating a dead horse by now (in fact your question is too beating a dead horse) I'm positive LOTR is over, however just to make sure the thread should be up until the Summer 2015 rumours show up. Or someone just locks this and opens it up if rumours pop up (unlikely) -
I do believe that stickers in these UCS-sets are absolutely disgusting. Yes, LEGO have gone to almost solely stickers, but these are supposed to be sets for adult collectors, they're supposed to feel luxurous and nice and the very least we should get is printed elements.

Yes, balrogs got killed by elves and half-elves, but that was at a time when not only were elves/half-elves incredibly powerful, but Balrogs were nothing more than glorified orcs. The balrog of Morgoth is, as stated, a Maiar, and is on a completely different powerlevel than Treebeard (who while old and powerful is "just" a mortal creature) Gandalf was also a Maiar, and he only managed to kill the Balrog after intense fighting for several days (and he died too, he only came back from literal divine intervention) The fact that the Balrog has fire powers just pushes this even further. But this is way off-topic, so. -

And I'm gonna end this debate right here - Treebeard doesn't stand even the slighest chance. Not only does the Balrog have the elemental upper hand since he is fire, he's also on a completely different powerlevel being a Maiar. Don't try to debate how Treebeard would win since it would never, ever happen. -
