Last time they had Yoda's hut in a set, at least there was an X-Wing in there as well. I have a hard time imagining the hut by itself having much play value or appealing to a large number of customers. I could be mistaken of course, maybe the designers found a way to turn it into an action packed scene. But somehow the Ewok Village and the A-Wing sound much more plausible to me.

[MOC] Yet another Super Star Destroyer Executor...
DFOL replied to Bob De Quatre's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Nice to see you're still around skayen! And i'm really glad to hear you didn't abandon the project after all. I hope we'll be seeing some updates soon? And Taiphun, i do agree with mortesv: whatever design you choose to make, i do hope you post your progress here on EB. I love following projects like this from start to finish! -
Darth Vader/TIE Advanced Transformer (Micro-Mood Scale)
DFOL replied to M<0><0<DSWIM's topic in LEGO Star Wars
If the other ones turn out as well as this one, you would sure have my vote! The picture still makes me smile every time i see it! -
Though i'm curious to see how the LEGO designers would make an interesting set out of a concept like Yoda's Hut or the Ewok Village, personally i would love to see a new A-Wing. The last stand alone version was released in 2006, so in my opinion we are long overdue for a redesign. If it was released with a new TIE Interceptor (like Klaus-Dieter suggested earlier) that matches the building style of the new TIE Fighter, i would be very happy indeed.

I'm probably letting my curiosity getting the better of me here, but i have to ask: what mods did you have in mind?

Darth Vader/TIE Advanced Transformer (Micro-Mood Scale)
DFOL replied to M<0><0<DSWIM's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Awesome M<0><0<DSWIM! You should see the huge smile on my face! It's very recognizable in both forms, so you definately nailed it. Though i agree a bit on the "huge grey back pack", did you try an all black approack on the wings? Or does that make it look less good? -
[MOC] Yet another Super Star Destroyer Executor...
DFOL replied to Bob De Quatre's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Too bad Skayen seems to have abandoned his project, i really liked his Executor! The use of 1x4 wedges was an innovative approach, but the shape of the main hull turned out beautiful and quite accurate to the reference pictures. But to be honest, any one of your MOCed versions of the SSD is so much better than the official release. The attention to detail you guys put into your models makes following the updates in your topics a real treat. I can't wait to see more progress picures while you are making your concept in the brick Bob De Quatre! -
There are a number of well known Star Wars characters from the Expanded Universe that people would be very interested in, like Darth Bane, Darth Nihilus and Revan to name but a few. I think TLC is aware of this, but the big questions are: Is there a good building set concept for these characters? And will such a set appeal to a large enough target audience to make it viable for release?
-
I agree with you there. If there is an easy way to secure that section, then why wasn't that included in the build in the first place? I get the feeling you're a bit disappointed with the set. Did you expect more from it? And now that you have held the model in your hand, how do you rate it compared to your MOC version?

[MOC] Yet another Super Star Destroyer Executor...

Have you tried searching for this piece both with and without the little rim below the stud? It might make a difference in availability. -
It took some searching, but i found the review! Lucky you to have gotten the B-Wing so early!!! Thanks for sharing the pictures and your thoughts about this set, they have pretty much confirmed my own opinions. It is really beautiful and a must have for me, but like you the windscreen is still bugging me a bit. Also, i found the report about the rear end of the cockpit falling off that easily rather disturbing, can't the construction be strenghtened somehow?
-
That question has been asked before, but it is still a good one. I'll try and give you an answer. Looking back at the past 13 years of Star Wars LEGO you will see that TLC keeps revisiting the same familiar ships, vehicles and buildings over and over again. That's because every few years there is a new generation of Star Wars fans that has reached the target age that LEGO is aiming at, so they want to make sure that each generation will be able to get their hands on a version of the Millennium Falcon, X-Wing, Republic Gunship, and all the other famous vehicles from the movies. Of course the designers do try to improve the designs each time they make a re-release because of the availability of new parts and new building techniques, but they are also constantly searching for new stuff to keep the long time fans interested as well. I hope that answers your question, at least a bit.

It has a quite decent price-per-part ratio, so it's not a bad deal from that perspective. So it comes down to the most important question: do you really like the set? -
Wow, i found it really hard narrowing the selection down to only five votes, there are so many fantastic entries! Well done guys and good luck! 01. DanSto - 1 point 15. ACPin - 2 points 32. Lobot - 1 point 34. Sebeus I - 1 point

What're your favorite and least favorite Star Wars sets?
DFOL replied to Loco de Lego's topic in LEGO Star Wars
That doesn't make it a good model, that just makes it a good spare-parts-pack. But on a more serious note, i do kinda agree with both of you. As a set it has very little appeal, i only picked this up at a discount to get the Savage Opress minifig. The model itself is rather ugly, but after taking it apart i did find some good use for most of the parts, so it isn't a total loss. -

No problem icarusbird, have lots of fun building! -
A lot of people seem to have picked up the shuttle, so i wouldn't be surprised if it sold better than you think. I never regretted getting it myself, it's one of the most beautiful models in my collection! As for the initial question, the shuttle is still available on the Dutch Shop at Home site and i have heard no rumors of it going out of production anytime soon. Sounds like a scam to me.

I'd say $400 is a reasonable estimate for the current value of those sets, provided they're complete and in a fair condition. But does that make it a good deal? I think that depends more on how much you like the sets you bought. And somehow i get the feeling you're already not overly enthousiastic about the blue colored TIE models... Edit: P.S. I almost forgot to say: Welcome to the Eurobricks community icarusbird! -
What a nice and well thought out concept! The modularity is just fantastic, you can customize the ship any way you see fit. Great idea! Looking at a more detailed level, i have to say i really like the design of the fighter and also the turret!
-
"I smell barbeque", hilarious! That has to be my favorite! The one with Harry Potter was pretty funny too though. These are great guys, keep them coming!

Thank you for this excellent review DarthPotato. I think you summed up the good and the bad points of this set pretty well. I knew there was something really bugging me about the window, and when you made your argument that it should be shattering like the Helms Deep wall instead of just tilting forward i couldn't agree more. The minifigures are nice, some of the details are ok as well, but on the whole i'm quite underwhelmed by the looks of this set. There are other sets i'd rather be spending my money on.

Lego Star Wars 4501 - Mos Eisley Cantina Review
DFOL replied to BrickShady's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Nice job on your first review BrickBoy435! It's been great revisiting this classic set. Too bad i never picked this one up, with Greedo and especially the Dewback it was a good one! -
Great idea, excellent playset style execution, lots of lovely details! My favorite has to be the bottom starfighter that has been opened up for repair.
-
I don't really see a problem with getting multiples of a set. Duplicates of a model can come in handy when you're trying to build a larger scene. I'm still hoping to save up some cash for some duplicates of the X-Wing and TIE-fighter myself, i find myself really liking those two models. But there are some other models on my wishing list too, so the duplicates will have to wait...
