  1. Thanks for the review Ritz Brick, i think you did an excellent job of pointing out the very few highlights and the many many disappointing parts of this set. I know i'll be spending my money on something much more worth while.
  2. These pictures are awesome jazz_lego, i really like the way you work with the lighting! I think it's safe to say we're all enjoying the snow theme with you!
  3. Great entry The Penguin! Your custom minifigs are beautifully made, awesome job on those! My favorite has to be the guards, the custom armor looks great on them. My compliments on the build itself as well. With all those gold ornaments and nice detailing, you really managed to give it that classy atmosphere. The only nitpick i can find is the one already pointed out by Walter: the floor does look rather bare, a nice tiled floor would've really complimented the rich feel of the scene.
  4. If i'm right the construction as shown in the picture is nescessary for the underside of the view port. Any reason in particular you would want the view port in trans red instead of say trans black Fuppylodders?
  5. That would be a rather odd comparison though, since the Malevolence is a play set and we're talking about UCS display sets here. There's a rather big difference between the two in design and detailing (and obviously price tag). Can't say i like the sound of that TheRedGuy. Doesn't it say on the box where the components of your set were made?
  6. Scrolling back to earlier pictures i see that you are right! I guess i was focusing more at the top edge of the panel and comparing it to the 6-wide top edge of the front panel of the main body.
  7. I think you might be right on that one. I know i personally never warmed to a super sized Jedi Fighter or Grievous, but when the first UCS Venator MOCs popped up i remember wishing TLC would be inspired to release an official version.
  8. I see you've made some nice improvements there Anio! The guns look much better with the technic pins and your plans for the window slot look very creative and promising, can't wait to see it made in the brick! I also think the angles on the head improved a lot, but looking at the model as a whole i'm a bit concerned that the front panel of the head may have turned out one stud too wide.
  9. Looking good there Bobsy! I like the improvements you made, switching the colors on the cargo section definately makes it appear more an integral part of the speeder. And you can never go wrong with adding a random crate!
  10. Nice to see you're back with a new MOC Jason, i thought i recognized your building style when i saw the picture! What inspired you to make Jabba?
  11. Looking at the latest reference pictures, i'd say the main guns look just fine to me in both shape and length. But the smaller side turret guns on the other hand look a bit off-shape in comparison, and i think it's because of the cones. Have you considered replacing the cones by technic pins?
  12. I like TIE variants and the idea of a TIE gunship in itself is not a bad one, but i hate to admit that i'm not that enthousiastic about the execution of this particular one. TIEs in general feature a rounded cockpit with angular side panels, so in my opinion the rounded panels really don't fit the aesthetics one would expect of a TIE model. It's not all bad though, i do think the main guns have been constructed in a very interesting way and i rather like them!
  13. I noticed too that there are a lot of smaller and medium sized sets in next years first wave. Maybe they did that on purpose to balance out this years rather heavy priced selection... I for one am not complaining about that fact, my wallet could use a bit of a break!
  14. Ah, for a moment there i thought there was something wrong with your opening mechanism. After having turned the wings of my UCS Imperial Shuttle up and down a few times IKEA style, i'm very glad the s-foils of the X-Wing open with only one turn of the wheel.
  15. Nice to see some of the rumors confirmed in this more detailed list. So far not many sets attracted my attention, mainly the Old Republic battlepack and the A-Wing, but maybe that's for the better. Still trying to put some money aside for the UCS B-Wing, so there won't be a huge budget left after that. But my wish list may change when i get to see pictures of the new sets...
  16. How do you mean that the wing opening mechanism is jarring when you operate it? It should snap open or shut smoothly with just one turn of the wheel at the back.
  17. At first glance i thought i was looking at a UCS model of an Imperial Star Destroyer, but scrolling further down i discovered it opens up to reveal a detailed play set interior. That really made my jaw drop to the floor, i certainly wasn't expecting that! Even though the model is a bit on the thick side at some places to fit the interior, i think both the UCS exterior and the play set interior have been made extremely well. There are so many beautiful details that i can't even begin to say what my favorites are! My compliments on a job well done!
  18. And yet it's the color of the official version that keeps me from buying it. I think it looks absolutely horrible with the dark red, bright red and orange color scheme. I would probably have bought it if it had been light grey like yours or even white with red accents like most LEGO versions of Republic/Rebel starfighters.
  19. That's a really nice and well made astrodroid PlayerfromTaiwan. The fact that it features a retractable third leg just like its large official UCS cousin is a great touch i think! One footnote though. The way that the droid is constructed has a lot of plates facing outward, and as a result there are a lot of studs showing. I'm not sure if you can work around it, but it does make the droid appear less smooth and i fear that it draws the attention away from more interesting details.
  20. How about a construction similar to the 10178 Motorized AT-AT? The designers did manage to work in something that looks like a window slot on a system scale AT-AT set, but i don't know if the appearance of that construction is refined enough for your model. Only 2600 parts? That's quite a modest amount for such a large scale UCS model like this, that keeps it in a reasonably affordable price range. You should consider putting this up on Cuusoo. If it makes it through the voting and selection process and goes into production, it would probably retail for what, about 300 dollar/euro i reckon?
  21. Wow, the AT-AT and the Snowspeeder look amazing Anio! I absolutely love how detailed both models are, fantastic job! I have just one little nitpick: i am kinda missing the slot for the cockpit window on the AT-AT.
  22. Thanks for the review Phil Slender! This set sure turned out to be a real little gem for collectors after it went out of production, with both a unique minifig and a unique creature. Personally i'm really hoping for a remake of this set, including the much loved Dewback!
  23. You sure made me laugh there... How on earth do you start from something inspired from the TIE familie and ending up with this? Still, i have to admit that your Gungan sub doesn't look bad at all. I especially like the tail/propulsion end of it.
  24. Nice job -sigma-! I really like the color scheme like this, much better than official model. I might've acually been tempted to buy the Striker if the official release had looked like this.
  25. Intriguing MOC Wedge09, i sure would love to know what it is they found and what's going to happen next.
