Wow, if these estimates are accurate, then i find this rather shocking! I hope that any serious buyer will go through the trouble of actually verifying the price of each and every single set in the lot and doing the math himself to prevent a major rip-off.

The background story is hilarious, you should see the smile on my face! And the model itself has been done really well, great job on that! I particularly like the curved part with the overhanging flap at the droid socket, it fits there perfectly while providing just that bit of extra protection for the precious R2 unit. I think i would've moved the droid socket 2 studs back myself though, so it's in line with the main cockpit and it wouldn't block the pilot's view as much.

Nice work on these new droids Dapper-D2, the black one in particular caught my eye! I think you're right that it may have been better to leave it all black and grey, but it's still very nice indeed! And i love the action shot, you did a great job on the special effects there!

The UCS Millennium Falcon in used condition alone is worth 1500 at least at the moment, and he has got many more rare sets. Taking all the current Bricklink and eBay prices into account, it adds up pretty quickly i think. Maybe you should try and find all the Bricklink prices of your own collection and see how much it's really worth at this moment

Nice drop pod, i especially like how you created a stairs effect with the cheese slopes!
-
Indeed, i couldn't agree more with you on that! Hulk_Smash has been fortunate enough to get a sneak peak at a retail catalogue and he mentioned seeing a Krell like figure with the Z-95. I think everything is VERY preliminary at this point, but it's a good bet we'll be getting a Krell minifig.

That's not a bad suggestion mortesv! You should really consider doing this Bob De Quatre, you'll never know when TLC is hiring new staff!
-
You got a fair point there about keeping a clear distinction between the two types of vehicles. With that in mind i think you did a superb job with the given restrictions, it looks very accurate indeed. I can almost see my minifigs hopping in there to take a taxi ride to their next destination!

Definately going to pick up the Sith Fury myself. Even though i think it has been scaled down way too much, i still think the designers did a superb job on this model. And the minifigs just make this set a must have for me. AMC, if you're looking for more affordably priced sets that are still good value for your money, i can definately recommend the Desert Skiff. The skiff itself is a really nice model, and it comes with four awesome minifigures. -
Well, i have no idea about the original retail prices, but the seller estimates the total current value at about £40.150 based on the eBay and BrickLink prices of the individual sets. In comparison £25.000 sounds like a steal, but who has even that kind of money lying around? And yeah, i would find it really hard letting go of a collection like that... Just look at all of the beautiful UCS models, not to mention all of the other really rare sets.

Nothing fancy he says. You have whole basement filled with bricks to yourself and you still want more? I wish i was that lucky! But kidding aside, you really got a nice MOC room set up there, judging from the description you got everything you need right at hand. It doesn't need to be pretty, as long as it's functional right? And seeing how many large scale MOCs you have you really could use a bit more space around there!

That's something you don't see everyday indeed! Nice find Darthluke824!

Hmmm... MLCad showed only minor gaps, are they that noticeable on the real model? That doesn't sound good. So much for that bright idea, lol!

Funny that you mentioned the TIE Fighter, i was just adding that set and the X-Wing to my previous post as you were replying. Any OT fan should have an X-Wing and TIE Fighter i think, and these versions are very nice! -

Hello AMC, first of all a very warm welcome to the EB community! What you should spend your money on depends greatly on two things: your personal taste and your budget. Looking at this years movie oriented sets i'd say that The X-Wing, TIE Fighter, Jabba's Palace, Desert Skiff and Gungan Sub are all excellent sets with a superb collection of minifigs. There are some older movie based sets still available as well. Personally i think the Sith Fury is also very nice, but i don't know if the Expanded Universe (like Old Republic) interests you. And you usually get very much value for your money with UCS sets. Even without taking Clone Wars sets into consideration there is a wide selection to choose from, so basically take your pick! As for addons to Palpatine's office... it's possible, but somehow it doesn't seem likely to me. I think the modularity is just there so you can reconfigure the set itself in any way you see fit. You'd be surprised about that actually. I did the math a while ago, and these sets have a quite average price-per-part ratio. Of course my calculations are based on dutch prices, but surely prices in the UK can't be that much off the mark? -

The fact that you like both sets equally doesn't really make it any easier for us you know! I can't say which set is better, but i'll try to help you decide. I don't know if you are a collector or if you actively play with your sets, but one thing you may want to take into consideration is play/collectors value. What set do you think will offer the most play or collectors value for your money? Another thing you may want to take into consideration is what the sets are based on. The Jedi Interceptor set is based on a movie, the Mandalorian Fighter on the Clone Wars series. Just think and answer this question: right at this moment, which do you like more? If you are totally into the Clone Wars series at the moment, you may enjoy the Mandalorian Fighter more. Or vice versa if you think the movies are better. Yet another thing you may want to take into consideration is availability. The Jedi Interceptor was released before the Mandalorian Fighter and will be retired earlier. Are you planning on getting the other set later on anyway? Then it might be smart starting with the set that will go out of production first. Well, i hope this helps a bit. -
Well, i haven't found any satisfactory solution for the windscreen yet. I've been looking at this part, but that would require rebuilding a large part of that section and altering the overall appearance of the cockpit, which i hope to avoid. My main gripe with the current canopy is that it slopes back down towards the rear. So i just removed these tan parts in MLCad and raised the back end of the canopy a bit, tilting the piece slightly forward so it doesn't slope back down so much. It instantly looked less awkward. The big question is: will this approach work on the real model as well, and will it improve the looks as much as it did in MLCad? Maybe you could try it out Cavegod?

Wow, haven't looked at this topic for a day and i come back to discover i've missed a rumor list and about 5 pages of discussion about it! I can't say i'm beside myself from excitement after looking at the list, but there are a few sets that sound quite interesting to me and that i will be watching closely as more information becomes available. An Old Republic battlepack? I'll probably be wanting multiples of that one! I'm hoping for a good thorough redesign of the A-Wing. The minifig selection doesn't sound too bad either with a pilot, Admiral Ackbar and... Han? What's he doing in there? Endor version of Han would be nice though! Not sure what to think of the Z-95 yet. So far i have a slight preference for the EU version, but the possible inclusion of a Krell minifigure does sound exciting! Then there are the planet sets. The past waves weren't bad, but i only picked up the Death Star. But these... A Kamino planet set without Kaminoan? I'm sure hoping they're going to correct that before release, or there will be lots of disappointed fans. Does anyone know what a Republic Assault Striker is? I tried to google it, but with no result... An asteroid actually could be interesting, but yet another TIE Pilot?
-
It is supposed to be at a bit of an angle though?
-
That is a very nice and sleek looking speeder Bobsy, great job! I am wondering though, why restrict yourself to only 6 studs wide? From what i remember the speeder looked quite a bit more spacious in the game, so you could've easily gone for an 8 studs wide hull i think.
-
I love how this one turned out Bob De Quatre, it really got that Mon Calamari look and feel!
-
I tried to recreate the cockpit in MLCad, but something doesn't quite add up. Am i correct in thinking that the original windscreen part is placed at a bit of an angle? And how is it attached?
-
This has to be one of my favorite topics, because it always leaves a huge smile on my face! Great job again by Oky and also by Bob De Quatre, very funny guys!

Thanks, much appreciated! I'm sure someone mentioned this somewhere before, but if you look carefully at the information sticker, you'll see that the dark bley brackets originally didn't come with the curved slopes. They look much less bulky without them, so taking them off would be one approach to modding that area. But alternatively, i was thinking of removing the slopes and keeping the curved parts instead. I can't wait till LEGO puts the instructions online, so i can recreate the cockpit in LDraw and start trying to find a less awkward looking solution for the cockpit. Preferably without having to rework that whole section, because i really like the looks of the rest of the cockpit. I'm interested to see what ideas you guys come up with for this part.
-
To be honest, i was thinking along the same lines. Like many people i find the windscreen part in the cockpit to be one of the most awkward details in the model, but i did notice the disproportionally large dark bley brackets too. I don't have any ideas how to improve the windscreen (yet), but the brackets should be easy enough to fix, so i wasn't even bothered enough to mention it as a point of critique. Depending on how the rear of the cockpit is constructed, i'm hoping it can be easily fixed by shoving an axle or bar through the middle. But since you will probably be getting this set a lot sooner than i will, please do let us know how you fixed this area! Apart from the mentioned areas the B-Wing is really looking good. Maybe i'll make a few minor tweaks and alterations, i usually do, but i don't expect there will be many on this model.
