I agree with Oky: even when order 66 was given, the Clones and droids remained enemies until the droid army was shut down at the end of the Clone Wars. Also the trike seems really out of place, a speeder of some sort would've been a more appropriate vehicle. But i do love the setting of the scene! The ruins look absolutely awesome, i particularly like how you worked with both smooth and textured surfaces to create the appearance of past grandeur that now lies in ruins. The scale of it makes it all the more impressive, so well done on the setting Wedge09!

There's a definate increase in speed while browsing the forums, so nice improvement! Smooth transition by the way, my compliments to the staff!

The spray painting R2 vignette is hilarious, that one would've been a nice one for the Star Wars Funnies topic! So simple in its concept, but the execution is just brilliant. I love the whole scene, from the painting setup with the painted and unpainted R2 to the sleeping worker behind the console.

Some international shipments do take an extraordinary amount of time to be delivered, due to being processed by several different postal services, distribution centres, etc. There's also a chance of it gathering dust at customs for several weeks before being processed there and sent on its way again (bureaucrats only work fast when it's in their favour). So don't give up hope just yet, your package is probably just delayed. -
You got me really looking forward to seeing this project completed AC! From what i've seen so far i'm confident that it'll be an awe inspiring build even without the rockwork around it. But like you said, you can always revisit the project in the future and add those parts afterwards.

[MOC] Giant Chess Star Wars episode 5 Hoth Theme
DFOL replied to Brickplace's topic in LEGO Star Wars
In the real hologram only the head of the Emperor is showing, larger in size than a human. But that hardly seems doable in LEGO, unless you know a clever way of making a brick built head about 4 studs wide with hood that actually looks like the Emperor and like a hologram as well. I can't think of any really good solutions to make the Emperor minifig look more like a hologram at this time, but maybe using four of these instead of the current transparant pieces might make the surrounding trans-light blue field look a bit smoother? If anything else comes to mind, i'll let you know. Just a thought though: your chess set is very much focused around the Hoth theme, and the Emperor didn't appear on screen until after the battle of Hoth. An alternative idea you might consider is to base your King piece on Vader and your Queen piece on general Veers.- 16 replies

That is an awesome looking AT-RT you built Bricktooth, and by the looks of it pretty accurate to minifig scale too! I'm impressed by the amount of detail you managed to work in such a small build, well done!

Plo Koon's Jedi Starfighter (and others) : CB SWIII - RotS
DFOL replied to ADHO15's topic in LEGO Star Wars
It's always nice to see another rendition of Plo Koon's starfighter. I think the bubble canopy is a nice improvement over the original, and the way you did the stripes is simple but very effective, nice work on those! But i have to admit i'm less fond of the shaping of the outer edge, the use of differently angled slopes makes it look very messy to me. I would recommend using only one kind of slope piece on the edge to create the appearance of a nice straight line. -
What a fun idea to play around with, customized paint jobs! I like how most of them turned out, but i think Anakin's Striker would look better if you replaced the white colored parts with dark grey though, just to get a bit more contrast with the yellow. Interesting MOD on Saesee Tiin's Striker, that sure made me smile! And i see Windu's Striker has some tweaks as well, nice!

[MOC] Giant Chess Star Wars episode 5 Hoth Theme
DFOL replied to Brickplace's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Very nice Brickplace! Very high quality design and incredibly rich detailing in both the chess pieces and the base. I particularly like the design of the base with the snow covered rock formations and the two cave like hangars with the mini Falcon and Shuttle inside. One question though, what's the purpose of the transparant pieces around the Emperor?- 16 replies

You should see the smile on my face! Sweet little vignette Diaaabo, i instantly recognized the scene you used as inspiration!

"R2, hit the buzz droid's center eye." Fantastic build dr_spock! Nice parts usage, especially the Death Star domes. And the light up central eye is icing on the cake!

You had something even bigger in mind initially? I'm pretty impressed by the size of the platform and framework as it is! Glad to see the project is getting along so well, can't wait to see more progress pictures!

[MOC] "I fly in now" Episode VI last attack on the Death Star
DFOL replied to markus1984's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Well, if you got an estimate of the number of parts used... We can all dream about a price-per-part ratio of 10 cents, but i think 13 cents per part would be more realistic. -
Statistical Distribution of LEGO Star Wars sets throughout the years
DFOL replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Thanks for adding up all the numbers KielDaMan, it's hard to argue with the statistics! Having the familiar models from the movies we all love redesigned and made better every few years is great, but i think exploring storylines outside the movies for interesting new ships and vehicles and turning them into LEGO models is a wonderful way to add more diversity to our collection. Still, with a limited budget i have to be picky and i find myself buying mostly movie based sets, leaving the Clone Wars sets on the shelves. Why? The cartoonish faces on the figures are increasingly putting me off, as does the abundance of brightly colored individual markings on the clones, making most of the CW figures pretty much worthless to me. So with that in mind i voted for getting more sets based on the OT, PT and also a special mention for the EU. -
Nice way to start the weekend guys, with pictures of the next wave of sets! I was shocked to see how huge the AT-RT turned out, i had hoped it was more to scale this time. But the design is very detailed and quite good, and the same can be said of the rest of the line up. Still, there are only two sets among them i feel tempted to buy at this point: the TOR BP and the A-Wing. The A-Wing itself looks really nice, but the figures are a major draw for me as well.

I'm a big fan of well designed AT-AT's that are built to minifig scale, and this one does not disappoint in the least. I'm especially surprised by the huge amount of interior space, not only can it seat 40 troopers easily, but it can store 5 speeder bikes as well. Very nice indeed! Loved the crashed scene you chose to display your AT-AT, it certainly added an original touch.

[MOC] "I fly in now" Episode VI last attack on the Death Star
DFOL replied to markus1984's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Incredible work markus1984! The scale, detailing and whole depiction of the scene just comes together beautifully. I really love your creation, it makes me wanna go watch that scene from the movie. -
More pictures, what a treat! I love the dramatic effect achieved by the lighting in each scene, it really takes the photography to another level! Of the newly added ones, i particularly like the scene with the emperor, but i also really like the color contrast in the one with the red guards.

Oh my goodness! I'm still halfway between shocked and laughing about that last one... The first picture is absolutely hilarious though, loved that one!

I read part of the discussion and it does raise some interesting issues about wether or not LEGO should release a remake of a UCS set. On the one hand it presents an opportunity for people who missed out on a previous version to get a UCS version of a particular ship or vehicle, but on the other hand arguments can be made that remakes decrease the overall value and credibility of the UCS line. How "Ultimate" can a "Collectors" set be if there are gonna be remakes? Personally, i think they shouldn't even consider to do remakes while there are still some very iconic vehicles left to do in UCS style.

Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here
DFOL replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
One possible reason may be that TLC tries to market as many minifigs they can as "NEW", so minifig collectors will want to add that particular minifig to their collection. TLC hopes to sell more sets that way, and they probably do. -
Personally i think the Eta-2 is a bit too undersized like this, both in terms of aesthetics and from an practical point of view as well: where are you supposed to put a full astromech droid like R2-D2? But concept and execution are two seperate matters, and i do admire the craftmanship you have displayed with these creations! Your models are very true to the original design and full of detail, i particularly like the way how you made the rear of the cockpit and the scaled down flaps. So great job on the execution of your concept!

It isn't the greatest set of the past few seasons, but it certainly isn't bad either. Personally, i'm pretty happy with my Infiltrator, especially after i made some minor modifications
