  1. I agree, this concept makes the build included in the battlepack actually useful, even when you got multiples. I'd rather have 4 interconnecting hallway sections, then 4 speeders and 4 trees with flick fire missiles
  2. Congratulations on a job well done Lobot, it looks awesome! I have to admit part of me is a bit sad the project is finished now, because i always looked forward to seeing the next update and now there won't be any more. But i do want to say a big thank you for making us all part of the building experience, i enjoyed it very much! You wouldn't be planning on any other huge projects, would you?
  3. Yeah, it's quite obvious they looked at existing UCS and minifig scale MOCs of the B-wing as a source of inspiration for their own model. There's no second chance for a first impression and like The_Chosen_1 i'm not overwhelmed right away. In my opinion the offical model doesn't look nearly as neat and sleek as it could have been, especially compared to some of the great MOCs (Cavegod's for instance). The cockpit area looks quite awkward, but maybe that just takes some getting used to. Or else it can be modded. And is it my imagination or do i see the model sagging a bit in the video? Still, there is a lot i do really like about this model, so overall i think they did a decent enough job. I'm looking forward to seeing high res pictures so i can study this model in more detail. I agree that they could have included a minifig or two. If they manage to work in minifigs in an SSD set, then why not a pilot for the B-Wing?
  4. There are also a lot of instruction manuals available directly from this section of the lego.com website in pdf format. When you sell a set you can just download the pdf file, burn it on a cd and include it with the set. That way you can still sell the set with instructions.
  5. Ah, that did the trick, thanks a lot! I hardly ever use the messenger, but on the rare occasions that i do at least i can get there the normal way now.
  6. I suspected as much. I'm using Windows Vista (SP2 with all the most recent updates) and Internet Explorer (9.0.7).
  7. Bricklink... the number 1 site when shopping for LEGO parts, minifigs or in this case an instruction booklet.
  8. Ok, this may be a stupid question, but how do i get to my personal messenger? I tried clicking my name in the top right of the screen. For a fraction of a second i see a pop down menu, but then the page immediately jumps to my profile. I suspect the page jumping to my profile should not be happening and that only the pop down menu is supposed to show when i click my name. Is anyone else experiencing this problem?
  9. Hello Hinckley, welcome to the Star Wars forum (i do believe the historic forum is your usual place to hang out) and thank you for such an elaborate reply to the discussion above. I had hoped that the suggestion that i made earlier would eliminate the need to prioritize between news and MOCs on the front page. But you made some valid counter arguments that make this solution sound a lot less ideal. Besides, like you pointed out, the front page seems to have an active and balanced flow of news and MOCs at the moment, so there seems to be no need to make any changes at this point. Your reply gives us a nice insight on the decision making process of what gets featured on the front page, and indirectly also how the forums are run by the admins and moderators. I can only imagine how much time and effort is involved in keeping this site up and running and managing its contents. Considering that all the admins and moderators are volunteers, it just needs to be said what a huge amount of appreciation i have for all your efforts!
  10. Oh wow, it's really going fast now! Did the Emperor electrocute another overseer to motivate the crew to work harder? I know what you mean! I too feel a bit like i'm right there seeing the set being built and come together
  11. What a great display of humor, and a great build as well! There is so much going on that i'm still discovering more fun details each time i look at the pictures!
  12. According to this post by mrfootball the unveiling isn't gonna be until friday afternoon. I'll be counting the hours with you though... I really hope we'll be seeing some pictures of the B-Wing then
  13. Agreed, those three sets were bad even by the standards of that period. Even with the limited resources available at the time, they managed to make most of the early sets look quite decent, except for these three. Someone mentioned the two STAPs with Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan, but i think that was actually a very nice set back then. As far as the Twilight is concerned, i'm having a bit of a conscience issue here. Let's just say up front that i do completely agree that this is probably one of the least appealing sets ever produced in the Star Wars line! But consider what the LEGO designers had to work with: LucasFilm/LucasArts designed the ship like an ugly flying box with one wing. Now look at the LEGO set. It looks pretty much like it appears in the movie/series. Yes it's missing some plates in the cargo hold, and yes it has been scaled down. But LEGO scales down models for play sets all the time, so that can hardly be an issue. And the designers did do a valiant attempt of incorporating at least a few basic play features. Can we really justify calling a LEGO set bad, when it is really the original design of the ship that's so utterly dull and unappealing? This one however definately deserves a place in the top five of worst Star Wars sets ever. Nothing in this set has the look and feel that makes me think of the real Hoth Echo base.
  14. You already did a classic hallway from the OT with rebels and stormtroopers, so when you asked for suggestions for more variations, i immediately thought that it would have to be something PT with clones and battledroids. Choosing a recognizable scene that can be done modular is harder though. Episode I has some nice Theed Palace scenes that might work, but there were no clones in that movie. Most scenes that feature both clones and battledroids take place on open terrain. I did come up with a possibility though: What about two Geonosian Arena themed battlepacks? Both would feature a part of the arena wall and floor, one would have 3 clones and a Jedi, and the other would have 3 battledroids and a Geonosian.
  15. You bricklinked all the parts for this model for 650 euro? That's quite impressive! I have to admit i'm a bit jealous, i would have loved to enjoy the building experience of this epic set myself. But i wouldn't know where to begin trying to explain spending 650 euro on LEGO to my wife I hope your parts will arrive soon, so you can start building. Have fun!
  16. One thing you may want to consider is availability. Plo Koon's fighter is no longer in production, whereas Saesee Tiin's starfighter is brand new and will be around for at least a year. If you want Plo Koon's fighter anyway, i would advise you to get it sooner rather than later, while it's still widely available and for a reasonable price.
  17. Well, that depends... Which figures do you like best? Which color do you like best? Which play features do you like best? Which design do you like best? Which one can you afford? I think Plo Koon's starfighter is a nice set for a reasonable price. I don't have Saesee Tiin's starfighter yet, but the escape pod cockpit seems like a nice play feature and the model does look better in my opinion. I quite like the new design, but the much higher retail price a lot less. So personally i'm not going to pick it up till i can get it at a very good discount. But you should choose for yourself which one you like best!
  18. I can imagine that acquiring a new license is quite a bit of trouble for TLC, especially if it's only going to be for a one time set. So i can understand why they caution people against putting projects on Cuusoo which require any kind of (new) license. But since TLC already has a license for Star Wars products, i see no reason why this project should be flagged down.
  19. It's starting to look like something! I love how you keep posting updates, it almost makes me feel part of the building experience As for your last remark, have you read this review by Kim T? I got a feeling you'll need to handle your Death Star with extreme care, the following comments from his review say enough:
  20. Ouch, that's quite a lot of money to spend twice on a minifig. I know TC-14 is a beautiful fig and i can so understand your frustration that yours has a scratch (i'd feel the same way), but is it really worth it to buy another?
  21. Definately recommended! I got this set a few weeks ago, and it does not disappoint in any way. The Skiff is quite an elegant looking model, and i had a lot of fun building it and zooming/hovering it around the Sarlacc pit. I'm also having a blast feeding random minifigs to the Sarlacc Having seen the minifigs in the brick, i can honestly say that the new Boba Fett is an instant favorite of mine. It is one of the most detailed and best looking minifigures i have seen to date, but i also really like the new Lando and Luke.
  22. Already supporting! I came across this project a few days ago on Cuusoo and i thought the concept behind it was rather brilliant. Create battlepacks that are nice as stand alone sets, but can be combined to form larger scenes as well. I hope this project succeeds, or that TLC picks up on the idea regardless.
  23. Hello skayen, first of all a warm welcome to Eurobricks! When i glanced at your initial pictures earlier, i had a feeling the shape of your Executor wasn't too far off. I'm glad you posted some comparison pictures, it clearly shows how accurate your model really is. Though i'm hoping to see some more detailed pictures, especially from the "city" and the underside, i'm loving what i am seeing so far. I think your model has some great angles, and so far it seems to look amazing from every possible viewpoint. The only point of constructive critisism i can think of is that the city seems too smooth, i would love to see it a bit more greebled. Other than that, i'd say this is one of the best versions of the Executor i have seen to date. Well done!
  24. Wow, you captured the general shape of the fighter quite nicely there! I do feel some of the detailing may be a bit less accurate compared to reference pictures found on the internet, but i think you created a beautiful fighter in its own right. Well done!
  25. I really like how you managed to capture the essence of the Acklay so well in minifigure scale, without making the build overly complicated. I think your version of the Acklay wouldn't look out of place as an official LEGO Creator set at all. The same can be said of the background. Not overly complicated, but it does the job well so it works for me. The dark orange may be an unusual choice, but in my opinion using that color as a background really makes the Acklay stand out in the pictures.
