  1. According to this post by hohesC it is expected that the UCS B-Wing will become available late august/early september, so it's my guess both the Imperial Shuttle and the Super Star Destroyer will be off the shelves by then.
  2. dear god noooo. Beats Santa Maul in my opinion, even with Santa outfit he still doesn't look festive to me. I think "R2-Snow2" looks kinda sweet, and the carrots are a nice detail.
  3. I thought i already left a comment on this topic, but apparently i didn't yet. No time like the present to add my praise to the many compliments you've already received so far. Well done on this excellent creation, each time this topic bumps to the top i just feel drawn to look at the pictures to admire all the detailing on every bit and part of the build. It is both accurate and beautifully made, what more can anyone wish for?
  4. I'm just curious, what is considered a "good amount of time"? The past few days there seems to be quite a bit of activity, but i remember times where the front page didn't change for days on end. Personally i find it nice to see something new on the front page every day. I was thinking, isn't it possible to divide the front page into two seperate columns? Then you can have one column that always features the latest announcements, news and reviews, and one column to feature a "MOC of the day". It's just an idea ofcourse, but if possible it would allow you to feature MOCs on the front page more often without it interfering with news and announcements.
  5. That is a really nice minifig scale version of the UCS Snowspeeder! It is instantly recognizable that you used the UCS model as your inspiration, and since that was the intent i'd say you did a pretty good job at it. However, i do agree with the constructive feedback given in the comments above. The 6-wide cockpit appears to be a bit too wide, a 4-wide cockpit would indeed look better in my opinion. I was going to comment on the ugly gaps between the angled parts in the nose, but i see you already made some modifications to work those out. Definately an improvement!
  6. Oddly enough, i kinda know what Praiter Yed is talking about. Maybe it's just a matter of wanting to see it in the background, but looking at the picture where the planet is a bit out of focus, i can almost imagine it being in the background.
  7. What a fun idea to make a clock like this! And the model itself is very nicely done, i really like it! I think using technic axles as clock arms is a great idea, it would make the clock even more LEGO-fied. But i'm not sure if adding more microscale models is a good idea. Even if you managed to make them really REALLY small, i think they would be a distraction from the awesome Death Star model.
  8. I couldn't agree more with you there, it would have looked much better with a more conventional color scheme of mostly white (or light grey) with red accents. But i get the feeling TLC chose this color scheme on purpose to set it apart from the latest X-wing. This new reference picture (thanks indeed!) does make me appreciate the design of the model a bit more, it actually seems fairly accurate to the source material. I'm still nowhere near tempted to buy this set however, somehow it still doesn't appeal to me one bit. The 9500 Sith Fury is a different story for me, from what i have seen of this set it appears to be great and i'll probably try to pick it up later this year. I'm hoping we'll see a review of this set on EB soon.
  9. You just proved that the simple solution is often the best one. That Tantive is absolutely adorable! And the Star Destroyer isn't bad either
  10. For a first attempt at a mini scale MOC, i think you did a pretty good job! I do feel the relative proportions are a bit off here and there: i think the superstructure (bridge) is a bit high compared to the hull, whereas the hull itself seems a bit flat. Still, i really like the sharp lines and how it is instantly recognizable as a republic/imperial ship. I'd love to see more of your creations!
  11. Wow, your project is coming along very nicely! I can't wait to see how it progresses!
  12. That is one beautiful Executor! Well done on this massive project, the detailing is magnificent, but the lighting really sets it apart!
  13. Yes, it has been posted as set 10227 UCS B-Wing on the first page of this thread for a while now, but that is about all we know on this set. I do believe someone mentioned a piece count of around 1500 parts, but i don't know if even that bit of information has been confirmed so far. I have been waiting for pictures of this set with great anticipation.
  14. There are plenty of sets i can think of that either haven't been made yet or are in desperate need of a good redesign. I'm not gonna post a wish list of a 101 candidates, but i do think the Naboo Royal Cruiser is way overdue. Also, i think Ventress' Fanblade fighter could make for a nice medium sized set. It'll be a nice change from the endless series of redesigned Jedi Starfighters and X-Wings.
  15. Thank you for this outstanding review WhiteFang! I found your review very complete, well opinionated and clearly written with so much enthousiasm, that it was truly a pleasure to read. Though i'm mostly Star Wars oriented, the LOTR sets definately have caught my eye. I'll probably have no budget left for any of the larger sets, but it's gonna be hard resisting the urge to pick this one up, especially after reading this really nice review. Both models are nicely built, and the selection of minifigs just makes me drool! As for the new horse, i like it. I think the design fits in much better with the newer (farm) animals and adds a good deal of playability, while still being (mostly) compatible with the original saddles, bardings, etc.
  16. That leaves 8037, 7658 and 9495 as the most likely candidates i think. Set 8037 is the CW version, which has an inverse color scheme (more yellow than white), nothing special in the minifig departement, but a really nice play feature in the form of a cannon. Set 7658 was a very popular OT version of the Y-Wing from a few years back, with 9495 being the latest redesign of that set. Opinions differ on which design is better or more accurate, but i think the newer one looks quite nice. And it comes with more and better minifigs. So if you're going for an OT version, i would recommend getting the latest one. Just out of curiosity, any reason in particular you are staying away from UCS sets? They are of very high quality and usually hold their value well over time.
  17. Personally, i feel that bombers should be bigger than normal fightercraft. After all, they have a heavy payload to deliver. When comparing the Y-Wing bombers to Plo Koon's Delta-7 Starfighter in the Clone Wars episode Shadow of Malevolence, you can see that the width of the bomber is about the same as that of the hyperdrive ring of the starfighter, which translates to a good decent sized bomber. But when i look at the LEGO releases of the Jedi starfighters and the hyperdrive ring, the playset releases of the Y-Wing just really seem way too small for my taste. So i went through the trouble of getting me the 10134 UCS Y-Wing. I modded the cockpit to make it suitable for a minifig pilot, and even though it is an older release, it's still a beautiful design with lots of nice details and greebles. It may be just slightly oversized, but i couldn't be more content how it compares in size and looks to any of the Star Wars fighters in my collection. Anyway, that's just me. The big question is, what are you looking for in your Y-Wing? Are you looking for a particular size? Is there a design that appeals to you more than others? Or are you looking for certain playability features or minifigs?
  18. What a great way to introduce yourself che6mw, welcome to the EB community! These pictures are hilarious, i actually laughed out loud at the last one.
  19. Like Mr Man said, the way that the light is angled and the shadows are cast is very nice. Still, i can't help feeling that the picture isn't very entertaining yet. It may just be my personal taste, but i really like pictures that tell a story or tickle my imagination. For example, instead of having him standing still you could have him performing some kind of action, as to give us a hint to what he is doing in the middle of nowhere. Or you could work with the background so he no longer appears to be in the middle of nowhere but part of a larger scene. I hope you find these comments useful, keep up the good work!
  20. Nice interview guys! I really enjoyed reading it and getting to know one of the most inspiring AFOL MOCers a little bit better. Since i spend most of my time here on the SW forum, i discovered i missed out on a lot of other impressive creations by ACPin, glad i finally learned about them! Also, great work on the photography guys, keeping his face hidden like that in all the pictures. Now we still don't know what he looks like!
  21. As much as we all like to speculate about the possibility of a Rancor Pit or even a Sail Barge, so far there have been no rumors or hints from official sources to confirm our speculations. I wouldn't get your hopes up just yet, but we may be surprised when more information on next years wave is released. I for one am more interested in getting more information on the UCS B-wing at this point. Have any pictures surfaced yet?
  22. Thank you for the review Flare, i enjoyed reading it! I still feel a twinge of regret for not getting this set when it was still available, because i really like the design of the speeder and the Cad Bane minifig. But i could never bring myself to pay the rather ridiculously high price for it, and apparently i missed out on the clearance sale. Ah well...
  23. I can only imagine how much effort it has taken you to get everything reorganized in there, but it really paid off! Just spent some time browsing the MOC index, and it has become much easier to navigate. Great job Brickdoctor, your efforts are greatly appreciated!
  24. Excellent review KielDaMan, i really appreciate the effort that went into this! The set itself doesn't disappoint either, especially considering it's a relatively small set. From the looks of it, the designers did a pretty good job on the skiff and the Sarlacc as well. Both models are very nicely built and they have all the play features needed to reenact the famous scene from the movie. But it is obvious that the updated/new minifigs are the main attraction of this set. It's particularly hard to pick a favorite between Boba and Lando, but the grey tunic of Luke is very interesting too and gives us some nice variation. Though i'm not all that familiar with the fourth character, he's a welcome extra to the line up. What's a skiff without some random guards right? I for one can't wait to get my hands on this set!
  25. Darth Malgus would have to be my number one. Can't wait to get me one, because the character from the game trailers makes quite an impression and the minifig is beyond awesome! Count Dooku would have to be my second choice. I know he isn't the most likeable character and the name is rather lame, but i do like the appearance of his minifig. The nice curved lightsaber hilt and classy outfit make him look almost regal. Hmmm, i do seem to like the Sith characters a lot. Not to go all dark side on you, i think at this moment Qui-Gon takes first place among the Jedi in my collection. I do like the latest Anakin from the Jedi Starfighter, but i'm less fond of his evil faces (accurate though it may be).
