Recently I made some trains from Lego for wooden rails. They looked pretty familiar so I compared them to my old H0 trains and ho and behold they are extremely close in size. I quickly made a bunch of different wagons and trains. This way the kid can play with his H0 push along trains on his wooden railway network. Doing the same on my proper H0 railway resulted some catastrophic failures. If he breaks the Lego trains, I will be able to reassemble them with ease. Plus they are pretty cheap. The V90 set with all the wagons cost only 30 Euros. So far I made a DRG Class 80 steam loco with a matching coach wagon and a DB V90/100 with a flat wagon, a cooler wagon, a generic freight wagon and a tanker wagon. I'm in the process to make DB TRAXX and maybe a V43. I used solid bogies with those big wheels. The pin allows enough movement for the wheels take regular turns. LIFE IN THE SLOW LANE... Gypsy wagons have been around for a very long time, having primarily been seen with travelling circuses, before being adopted by gypsies. The "Horse drawn, painted, one roomed house on wheels with a stove" is believed to originate in France in the early 19th Century. Gypsies themselves adopted them around 170 years ago. Its Romanesque characteristics, its baroque carvings and bright colours are likely to have been picked up from wanderings in Central and Eastern Europe. The Gypsyes' name for their wagons is a "Vardo", from the Iranian name vurton, that means cart. There were six main types of wagons and they were made of oak, ash, elm, walnut and pine. Most caravans were pulled by draft horses. I've always been intrigued by Gypsies Wagons and in the past few weeks I built a couple of them. Inspiration come mainly from a coffee table book my wife gifted me, "Les Roulottes, une invitation au voyage", a big source of colourful and funny caravans. It was very funny designing and building these caravans and also choose the right Minifigures from old sets and Collectionable Series. If you are wondering why Jack Sparrow is in the MOC the answer is that I think he has the perfect look of a yesteryear Gypsy :) A few pictures below Below the Wagons pulled by horses... I'm trying to drag a very good builder of trains to EB and everything related to railway construction, pavlo, which lives in the Russian Lego forum. I obtained permission from him, I will now publish his works here. They are valuable in that they cover a diverse railroad park of the USSR / Russia, the work is done in the same style and at different scales (in 6, 8 and 10 widths), have an LDD file, and those who wish can collect these, modelism in the part of railway. UK freight wagon MODs: crane, boxcars, flatcars, and guard's van

These models are heavily inspired by Whoward69's fleet of train cars, as seen on his Flickr feed and his instructions linked below. First up is a set off a crane wagon. I modified the original model model's instructions to include a longer base for the crane, and using newer parts to make it a bit more durable. The rear of the crane car should feature six of this print where the yellow 1 x 2 tiles are. The crane car can move side to side or up and down with two sets of ropes to either raise / lower the hook or operate the boom. Please NOTE: I don't have the exact measurements for the two strings as they wasn't listed in said instructions. However, I think two of this string here should be long enough. I also added a flatcar carrying train track for the crane to off-load. This Box Van was a Banana Van when I built from these instructions. I already have two boxcars in this form, and thought four more would be a good idea. This flat car was just a random addition to the train, with no real specific prototype. The brake van was mostly made from these instructions. I embellished the design with a couple of my own touches to keep it in line with the above-mentioned boxcars. I was inspired by the Lone Ranger "Constitution Train Chase" (set number 79111) and it's jail car to add tail lights to this car. This print should go where the black 1 x 2 tiles are under the rear windows.
