    [MOC] 1959 Cadillac Series 62

The absolute pinnacle of 1950s car design - The 1959 Cadillac The 1959 Cadillac Series 62 is an iconic symbol of automotive luxury and elegance from the golden age of American car design. Released during an era of excess and flamboyance, the '59 Cadillac embodied the spirit of the 1950s with its massive size, extravagant tailfins, and elaborate chrome accents. The Series 62 was a part of Cadillac's lineup, which was known for its opulence and cutting-edge features. The '59 model was no exception. From the moment it hit the streets, the Cadillac Series 62 turned heads with its bold and distinctive styling. The rear tailfins soared to impressive heights, resembling rockets ready for takeoff. They were and still are the biggest tail fins ever put on a production car and mark the absolute peak of the tailfin era. The grille featured a bold, intricate design, and the abundance of chrome trim added to its undeniable presence. Fun fact: When the general public thinks of a pink Cadillac, minds instantly flock to a 1959 model with gorgeous tailfins and sweeping lines. But, the fact of the matter is Cadillac never made a pink 1959 Cadillac. All pink 1959 Cadillacs have been repainted at some point. Under the hood, the '59 Series 62 was powered by a 390 cui V8 engine putting out about 325 hp, providing power for effortless cruising on the open road. The Tri-power equipped Eldorado reached up to 345 hp. It offered a smooth and comfortable ride, with Cadillac's renowned attention to detail evident in every aspect of the car's construction. Inside, the cabin boasted luxurious upholstery, spacious seating, and a host of advanced features for the time, including power windows, air conditioning, and a cutting-edge radio system. The 1959 Cadillac Series 62 quickly became a status symbol, attracting celebrities, dignitaries, and those seeking the epitome of american luxury. Its iconic design and lavish features made it a standout in an era that embraced excess and glamour. Today, the '59 Cadillac Series 62 continues to be a highly sought-after collector's car, cherished by automotive enthusiasts and vintage car aficionados worldwide. Its distinctive appearance and historical significance have solidified its place in automotive history, serving as a timeless reminder of an era when american cars ruled the road with their size, style, and unabashed extravagance. My model This model is not based of the LEGO Ideas Ghostbusters Ecto-1 set. I just think that the set doesn't really look good and decided to do my completely own 59 Cadillac. I had a lot of building this iconic 50s car. I'm really happy with the end result, I think the pink is the perfect color for the 59 Cadillac, even though it is not a original color. This car has an realtivitely detailed interior but does not really support minifigs. The model is 8.4 studs wide, 24.2 studs long and about 5 bricks high. This model is quite stable, so you can use this model as a display piece but you can also play with it. The instructions for this model are easy to follow and for free. If you want to modify this model, no problem, just download the Stud.io 3D file and start building. If there are any problems with the instructions, please contact me. I spent a lot of time and effort in this model so I would be happy if you reply to this topic! I recently saw this one film with like ghost and all kinds of weird stuff… You probably never heard of it. Anyway they had like a 59 Cadillac Miller Meteor...thing. Do you think I should build it? Let me know in the comments! A NEW REALM OF MOTORING MAJESTY ! - ad for the 1959 Cadillac You can find instructions for this model on my Rebrickable page
  2. Hi everyone. I thought I'd share my entries for the recent "Let's Get Tropical" contest in the Lego Speeder Bikes group on Flickr. There were 3 categories and the idea was to have them be tropical themed (although it wasn't a requirement). Here are my entries for each category: Island Racing While most of the time the tropical planet Paradisa is an idyllic vacation spot where beings from across the galaxy come to relax and unwind, once a year the resort hosts an exciting high-speed speeder bike race around its beautiful islands. The Seaside Speederbike is a fast and elegant ride that is perfectly designed for the Paradisa racetrack. It is built to match the bright, pastel-colored aesthetics that Paradisa is known for and uses design elements from vehicles that you typically see around the islands such as horse carriages and surfboards. With three powerful engines and small adjustable wings on each side for quick turns, victory is assured for the rider of this speeder bike! When I think "tropical islands", one of the first things that come to mind is Paradisa, so I wanted to have my speeder bike to be themed after this childhood favorite theme. I tried to use as many original Paradisa parts as possible. Musically Inspired When I think of the tropics and music, what comes to mind is the King of Rock, Elvis Presley, and how he liked to spend a lot of his time in Hawaii. So, for my entry for the music category in the Lego Speeder Bikes contest "Let's Get Tropical" I built a speederbike inspired by Rock'n'Roll music. Part jukebox, part 1950's retro vehicle, it's built to rock'n'race across the tropical islands! It even has an electric guitar holder in the back. Bounty Hunter Zarko Hydraxon used to be a proud member of the devious Aquasharks. However, his methods of acquiring Hydrolator crystals were too ruthless even for his fellow Aquasharks, so they banished him from their group. Since Aquasharks aren't very popular in the Aquazone, none of the other factions wanted to take him in, so Zarko decided to leave the Aquazone to forge his own path by becoming a bounty hunter. Now traversing the tropical oceans and calling himself Lone Shark, he will work for anyone who is willing to pay in Hydrolator crystals. He built himself a fearsome custom speeder bike to hunt down his bounty. Like the Aquashark subs, it is shaped like a big black shark to strike terror into the hearts of his prey and is equipped with harpoon launchers, robot arms, and a fishing net to capture his bounty. It is amphibious, so it can either hover over the water or dive underwater. It also has a sonar compass on the dashboard for tracking down bounties. All this along with his trusty harpoon gun and knives make him one of the most dangerous bounty hunters around! Aquazone was another childhood favorite theme, and it's water-related, so I chose to theme my bounty hunter after one of the antagonistic factions from that theme. What do you think? Which one do you like best?

Lego 10260 Downtown Diner XL MOD

Here is my take on modifying the Downtown Diner. I used two sets, and sort of mirrorbuild one set. The footprint is 56 studs. I widened the stairs on both sides with one stud to reach the 56 studs.

    Mosaics from this year

It's been awhile since I posted anything so I thought I would share my current outlet for LEGO, which seems to be large mosaics. Nothing is smaller than 96x114 studs. I have found that working in grey-scale seems to produce some awesome results, but Batman did need to be done in colour, he is just under 5 feet tall (112x192 studs). Enjoy. 5. Hi Eurobrickers. So Here's a reason why all the Eurobrickers down under need to come to Brickvention next weekend. Here is "Elvis" my 100,000 brick Erickson Air-Crane in fire tanker mode. 4m long and over 1m high. It took me just over a month to make, and given his odd shape and very tiny ground touch points made him quite the challenge to build. More pics next week :) Cheers and see you at Brickvention! Ryan
