  9. ~Parrots whispering~ "What do you mean bluff? Your Sea Rat master didn't bluff once all this time!" "Listen Popsy, I do love your visits to the Rock, but this Carnovian captain you are travelling with does not know the first thing about poker. He already lost his first all-in and keeps playing risky. You will not be making a single doubloon this trade run that I can tell you!" "At least we are heading for adventure after we have taken these chips and loaded the guns tomorrow! We are going to fight off the Lotii!" "Pff .. better to be profiting of wars than joining 'em. Look at the Mardierians! They have lost half an empire fighting useless wars." "Talk about useless: your master just went all-in on a 7 - 2 !" Just a small build showing off my poker table. It is placed in "Lothario's poker lounge" in the Sereen Cay, the Rock, zone 31. Traders, buccaneers and imperial captains of all nations come here to spend some of their ill-gotten doubloons or soldiers-salaries. Current players on this table are Lothario Fraunces, facing off a Carnovian captain on his last stop off to war, other players include a Corrington Lieutenant, an Eslandolan trader, a Mardierian conquistador and a Black-Flag Sea Rat captain. Better picture of the poker lounge:

  11. This is unofficially "The Fraunces Brothers Story Part 5" + " The Cocovian Job: Part 6" = Well you'll see! Take a chair, for this post will take some time... To tie up two storylines (the Cocovian Job and the Fraunces Story") and prepare for ERA III , I am happy to tell you all a story which I had forgotten about, a story which I made up as I was Moccing around. And then this challenge came up! ~ Introduction The storms are brewing, and even around the Sereen Cay the seas where bubbling! Lothario Fraunces just sended out all of his younger brothners, his crews and ships, on quests as to find out what it was what was about to happen. He could use help from the best navigator he ever met: his father. Nobody knew anything about him, after he had vanished on the Terraversa Sea 6 years ago. That was, until his brother Jacobo found out more via Sabelotodo: pirates' whispered something about a secret prison.... ~~A mysterious newcomer Most ships were already seabound. Most pirates left the Sereen Cay. Some merchants closed up their shops, as the streets were never so quiet. Normally, ill-gotten doubloons were spend in the taverns and shops. This was a depressing sight: even the most dapper pirates had left; fear about the end times consumed everyone. No one therefore payed any attention to the young stranger walking the streets of settlement, heading towards the towering Fraunces Mansion... ~~~Let’s find Big Scoop! In his mansion, Lothario Fraunces and his trusted cook Lance were packing stuff, as they themselves were about to leave as well. The mansion suited Lothario well, and he had earned some rest after all of his travels. But the seas were strange, and he needed to find out what was about to happen. He could not be the only one staying behind. Suddenly, three knocks on the front door. Someone at the door? Who could that be? Lance and Lothario looked at each other, the firstmentioned taking his flintlock and opened the door: "Excluse me sir, a moment of your time please? Don't shoot me yet! I know the purpose of that key you stole sir, if I may be so rude..." Gun in hand, Lance was in doubt about what to do. Then, Lothario shouted to let the guy in. Lothario needed to know who this young pirate was, what he did here, and what he knew about his key. He let him, and his parrot, in. The parrot was the one who grabbed Lothario's attention. The parrot then bursted out: “Prepare to die!” "Easy easy Riddlebeak! Easy! My good sirs, let me introduce myself: I am Quinten Cheaproot. I think I owe you an explanation: I wanted to be a pirate once, and signed up to a truly aweful lot of sea rats. You probably don't know this captain. He stays to himself, kills every prisoner he takes, and doesn't want to draw to much attention to himself, he likes to operate in the shadows. I was afraid to do anything but follow his orders, until one day we picked up a very special man, who was stranded on a small island we passed by. Our evil captain was about to kill him, luckily for him, his parrot shouted from the palmtree: "Big Scoop!" . Now you might have heard about Big Scoop... The treasure of all treasures... Now the parrot you see, is the one my shoulder right here, this wonderous creature is named Riddlebeak. His owner was the stranded guy, and he saved his life, as if he knew what to say to our evil pirate captain that day! The brute then tortured the stranded man, until he revealed a hint, or anything revealing something about the location of Big Scoop. Under this high pressure, the castaway then told where to begin looking. Immediately, we set sail. The castaway was prisoned, and key to his cell is the very one you happened to steal! Lothario! You see, you didn't steal it from the Redcoats that day, you stole it from one of our crewmates who was just as yourselve in Quinsville in cognito at the party that day. That spy was one or ours and was gathering information for our evil captain to find the treasure, as time is running out you see, they say the kraken is released, and on top of that: at least twice as much storms nowadays. Some day the end of days is coming! Now you guys were there at the wrong time, at the wrong place. Lucky for you: I was there too. I abanded the captain as I could not live with his inhumane behaviour, and to be honest, I wanted to find Big Scoop myself: I am the only one who can you know, as Riddlebeak and I are really fond of each other! I was the only one on the ship feeding him! So, me and Riddlebeak kept hidden on Quinsville and followed you here. Now, sir, I want to propose, you help me find the treasure of Big Scoop! If we'd partner up, we could first free the castaway. Together with Riddlebeak, we should be able to figure out where to find the treasure. I know on which island the evil pirate captain is keeping him!" ~~~~ Set Sail! Now ofcourse, Lothario wanted to get that treasure! The next morning, Lothario Fraunces, his cook Lance, the parrot Riddlebeak and the young pirate Quinten readied themselves for the journey. Lothario met Quinten on the jetty. He was feeding Riddlebeak. "Now off to this enigmatic isle we are youngster! I hope you are not fooling around! I brought my most shiney cutlass; so you better be careful!" “You seem a decent fellow, I hate to kill you!" - the parrot Riddlebeak responed. "I hate to die.” Lothario said which some irony in his voice. The crew was ready to leave. Lothario was happy he was lucky again, finally a worthy quest! He also was very pleased with the shipyard: his newest transport ship was seaworthy. Lothario just saw one last pirate vessel sailing away at the end of the docks, making his new ship the last one in port. It was a strange sight to behond, his harbour normally was a happy, burstling place, full of rum, women, laughter, fighting, trading... All other pirates were off sailing around finding easier waters.... Lothario felt a sence of nostalgia looking around. He had a strange feeling this could be the last time he was here. Hopefully his brothers were allright. Normally the fleet would sail together, this was Lothario's first time in years commanding only one ship. And off they are! ~~~~~ The Enigmatic island Quinten said he had a plan, and Lothario and Quinten only took the parrot with them to the island. Quinten knew what to do: he told Lothario not to worry. Lothario didn't know if he could trust Quinten, but he had no choice. Quinten and the parrot operated as one and he was the only one who knew the island. Quenten manouvered the ship to the far side of the island, making sure nobody in the stronghold of the evil pirate would see them coming. Lothario quickly understood he needed to be quiet, as the natives were not that welcoming towards him. They somehow knew Quinten however. He then offered the native chief some fruit, to be sacrified on the altar of the islands' god. Lothario gathered from what he could understand, that the god of the island had a very diverse eating pattern. One day fish, the other day meat, the third day oysters, and today it was time for fruit!" Nobody knew, they were being watched from afar... ~~~~~~ The Scammer That night, Quinten woke Fraunces up: "ready up sir, Gonzo will be there now!" "What? Who? Where? Who's Gonzo?" "Just come! I'll answer later!" They hurried to the statue of the fruit-eating god: only to discover it was not the statue eating: there was man there! Quinten and Lothario took up arms, and confronted Gonzo! He seemed to panic, but quickly recovered noticing he hadn't been discovered by the wild natives, this was his old pal Quinten: "Quinten! You scoundrel! This is my trick! You find your own tribe of lunies!!" said a scared Gonzo. "I don't want the food! I want you to help me enter the fortress of our former captain on the other side of the island! Take us there, or accept the consequences of your thieving lifestyle!" "Don't rat on me to the chief!! He is a savage!" ~~~~~~~ The Secret Entrance "Here it is Quinten" "I don't see it, tell us where the secret door is! You told us you knew! Quickly Gonzo, the evil pirate captain always leaves guards, even at this time in the morning, they mustn't see us! They never leave survivors!" "I know, i know: Patience young one... Let me cut it away." ~~~~~~~~ The old castaway Sneaking through the fortress, Gonzo lead Quinten and Lothario to the cells. There was someone in there: between the skeletons they saw long, grey hair moving! Lothario took the key from the Cocovian job, and opened the door. The grey man came, turned and revealed his face. Lothario almost shouted from surprise: this could not be! After all those years! It was his long lost father! The famous pirate Christopher Fraunces! Quinten greeted him with respect, Lothario could not believe his eyes. It was really him. Wearied, old, grey: the years had took their toll. "We'll talk later junior!" was the first thing Christopher said. "Open this door!" "Father!" "Don't get all emotional now! We have to leave! The guards will check up here any second!" Too late! Suddenly, a guard stood at the top of the staircase: holding out a gun. In a split second, Lothario took up a black stone, and threw it at the evil looking minion. ~~~~~~~~~ What will be, will be Tears in his eyes, blood on the floor, the crew had no time to think. They ran as quick as they could back to the shore, going the same way they entered the fortress. They could hear pirates shouting, following them. The weather was bad, really bad. All on board thought the same thing. But this was no time to think about the end of days, they needed to run! And so they went, on a ship brand new, Lothario and his father reunited after all these years.... They had so much to talk about! Who was the evil pirate captain? What happened to Christopher? Where was big Scoop? We can only hope the lot will survive these waves, otherwise, we will never know! THE END for now...
