Kaliphlin Guild: Homepage, Sign-up and Discussion

I have descried from our current encampment, a mighty mountain peak, south of Qarkyr. Here, if no one has any objections, is where I would like to build Belt Muntanji, or Mountain Town as my warriors eagerly refer to my vision. It appears that there is a mountain pass on the southern flank, and I could help defend this in times of peril.

I have had a scribe draw up a map.

Yours, as ever, Yoshi.

(Excuse the paint skills haha!)

First of all, welcome to Kaliphlin, my new Kaliphlin Brother!

Aha, I once visited your fathers empire a long time ago already, when I still was an Alleenridder. Too bad to hear what happened there!

Like some already said here, we Kaliphlins (almost all) got a good relationship with the Drow, so don't look strange when seeing someone at our markets :classic:

Also, if your campment needs supplements, feel free to visit Mpya Stedor which is located here:

(link to Mpya Stedor: My link )

And of course, the legendary city of Berigora is very close too!

Greetings,

Lord Damaximus

As I have said before, my castle is under redesign.

I was inspired by some pics I found and put together my idea on LDD. On the first "satelite view" I labeled buildings that I have in construction stage.

LDDScreenShot7.png

(some more nice LDD pics)

Looks very promising!!!

Oh by the way, your sigfig is finished, one of the next days I'll publish the first MOC :classic:

@Kaliphlin: The commerce challenge has a little under a month left, I would love to see some more entries :classic:

Challenge thread: link

Normally I will enter something. The problem is this month, I only got 3 days building time

Gosh, another new neighbour! It's getting quite crowded down here in our corner of Kaliphlin. Welcome Yoshi, i look forward to seeing Belt Muntanji arise on the flanks of the Rakath - consider us here in Peregrinus your freinds and allies!

I've worked out what i'm planning to do for the challenge now - i'm planning it to be, ahem, rather explosive! I'm a bit scared about how to tackle it though, what i want may be a bit too ambitious for me. :look: I guess i won't find out until i try...?

I'm planning to get in a couple of free builds before i start that though - a barracks/millitary academy for West Berigora and i'm still waiting for parts for my flagship. Here's a couple of progress pics though, just to show you all what i've been up to in the last week: :classic:

barracks2eb_050712.jpg

The barracks. This was initially just meant to be a training scene for my archers, but it kinda grew on me. It will have a fully furnished interior when it's finished.

galley1eb_050712.jpg

Very early stages for my galley - waiting on some boat parts and more oarsmen to flesh it out properly, although i should really get on and start in on the stern.

ps. Mikel, your micro-scale castle looks brilliant, can't wait to see some some pics of the larger version!

I see no problem. Every mad genius needs a village of peasants, right? Send me a picture of what your temple looks like, so I can try to build it in micro scale along with whatever I build for my people.

Where are my manners? Firstly, welcome brother and neighbour! Good to have you with us. The Holy Temple is forever being built and rebuilt by the Mad Monks, so it appearance changes on the month and on where you view it from. Think of a mostly white/tan Moghul Palace with a couple of Towers and you won't go far wrong, it is quite a large structure above ground and simply gargantuan below.

Yoshi-san, welcome to you too. The Petraea General Trading company looks forward to helping you procure whatever you need for your people, from anywhere in Historica. If it's contraband, well, we don't carry those items. Officially...

Mikel, gabe, good to see your WIPs, they are looking very promising. Mrs robuko has narrowed down my challenge 4 idea. A very oblique clue while I try to work out the build - it might appeal to Lord Damaximus' mediaeval national pride,. My other idea was for a giant tornado carrying away buildings.

Wow, Erudhalion Sahib. Your barracks and ship are coming along nicely!

Righto, then. I'll dig out my white and tan. Too bad I gave away my huge onion dome to my nephews. Ah, well.

Looking good gabe. Expanding your mind and build skills for a challenge is half the point, so being a bit scared is a GOOD thing!

I also would like to get a few free builds in. I have bases for two towers (one for fun and one so I have a 24 x 24 Avalonian tower to match the ones I did for brickworld) and DC title challenge build AND an Albion build. Too bad I haven't even put a single plate abovethe base on any of them yet!

Awww... the time to get free builds in. That I am also finding lacking. So many things I want to build, not enough time (or parts!) I start teaching summer classes on Monday, but I am pretty sure I will be able to squeeze in one free build (I am leaning towards creating a MOC that represents the trial of the traitors from the battle last weekend) and the challenge, I will use the challenge to help bring about my story of what happened to Dugal and why he is missing.

@Mikel Kalores: I am so anticipating your build :moar: Can't wait to see this full sized in the brick

I hope you have a lot of patience... I think that progress will be slowed down a bit until weather starts cooling off. I've been spending most of my free time the last few weeks outdoors. On top of that, my LEGO budget is maxed out between the LoTR, Super Heroes & Star Wars sets combined with a massive BL order for an unrelated Lego project.:cry_sad: And it looks like I need another BL order to complete a few of my current WIPs...

The good news is that I don't foresee any setbacks in my builds for the Kaliphlin Times other than not enough time.

Yoshimitsu-San Welcome new brother! Apologies on the lateness of my welcoming... These are difficult times in Historica, tales of Elementals running rampant... But I digress, You, your mage and your privateers are welcome into our ranks. We will need all the help we can get in this war...

Saladus The Moon Lord Kha is fantastic. I love the dark tan terrain you built amd that tree!

Rasputin I saw this build on Flickr and it was awesome. I loved the lava work you put in and the really awesomes set of figs you used. Really captured the scene nicely :sweet:

haha I was wondering when Sand Worms would show up - It was under the 'things I could build' list form day one - but I don't need to build it anymore - your worm is awesome. Great rock work and the action is perfect.

Great job.

Oh Mikel you and your LDD's ... makes me want to break it out and learn how to plan like you do :)

Looks great though can't wait to see it built!

Erudhalion - you're 'early stages' images are fantastic. That looks better than some of my "finished" mocs :sadnew:

I'm eagerly waiting to see the finished product.

Sorry everyone for my absance (though you guys and don't really need me), things get busy in Summer time / have been working on something else lately :look: - But I think everyone will like what we're doing

As always I can _always_ be reached by PM if there are problems or if you're bored and want to chat

Great job Lord DaMaximus, these intelligence agents are pretty smart. Unlike the cartographers of the PGTC, who put the Holy Temple on entirely the wrong island!:blush:   It is of course in the lake below Qarkry near Arakeen.

Khamar Ibn Hakkad , if the Vacana Jamana find any temples, they belong to heretics, schismatics, or ancients. Or maybe it's just a forgotten Abbey, there are a few, here and there.

Very nice - it's always good to get a comprehensive map update. Although i seem to recall a settlement on the NE coast that isn't on the map yet... i thought it was in the large bay immediately south of the Goolag Archipelago? It had a Japanese inspired flavour to it's name and architechture, and had a reputation as a bit of a black market town. Can anyone tell us more?

Sorry, DaMaximus, but I have another correction for you.

The Nestlands Clans are South of Qakyr as seen on this map:

Map of Nestlands by gedren_y, on Flickr

You have Belt Muntanji in the right place, as it has been agreed that it is on the southern face of Dun Nol.

I do appreciate your attempts to get everyone accounted for and I am just trying to help you get it right.

Aha! Thankyou robuko, that's exactly where i was thinking of. DaMaximus, perhaps we could add it to the updated map as well?

Speaking of updates, i've been adding a few things to the GoH Wiki today - filling in info pages for Berigora and Lord Sansael. I am not that savvy at webpage stuff, so what i've done is a bit rough still. I encourage new members to head over to the wiki and add thier character sigs and locations, it's a good resource if we want to start building in each other's backyards! :classic:

Thx for Gabe, Robuko and gedren_y :)

I'll put the new info as soon as possible on the map :)

The idiot who forgot to visit that town and who misplaced the Nestlands is now proud () to be called "slave"

As I said in the other thread, I love this. I've got small pieces of fortress done. I'll post 'em when I organize them into a full scene.

Just a quick upload from my phone...not the best quality, but this is what I am working of for challenge 4.

The tower is going to be a lighthouse in the harbor. There will be buildings and a city street scene on the top platform. And in the water is the Water Elemental that will be attacking the city. This view is from behind, but hopefully you can see that he is coming out of the water with waves and jets of water around him.

Any C&C welcome to help out!

Wow, that's looking really nice Kayne! The lighthouse and the rockwork look great and i love the little crane. The broiling of the water around the (invisible!) elemental is nicely handled too. So will this be the direction of the main shot once you have finished? I only ask cause perspective can be an issue when you come to build your microscale component. The other thing to keep in mind is that the scene should show "elemental devestation", so you might want to include some of your buildings in the process of being swamped or crushed, as opposed to the first moment of attack when all the buildings are still standing.

Anyway, it's great to see your WIP, it looks so promising! Can't wait to see more.

I've made a start on my challenge 4 build as well - am in the process of making some elementals which i'll post here as a WIP soon. :classic:
