City 2010

When you look on the first page of this topic you can see that the set will be no round about but a runabout

Woops, I got a little carried away because somebody had turned that into "Round about"... Sorry, my mistake!

But it still would be great to have one (or many)!

Would "Stadtflitzer" have to have anything to do with a "Flitzerblitzer?"

I don't think so, in the early nineties the following set was described as Einkaufsflitzer (translation: a fast car for shopping purposes)

So it will probably be a small car with one minfigure, which is always welcome on the police and firetruck crowded streets.

That's exactly the picture I was searching for, simonwillems, - but I didn't find it. Thanks for sharing.

Let's hope that the runabout isn't again in red color like this year's Sports Car but in blue or black.

Do you think that TLG will include a shopping cart with some food in this set, too? - That would be awesome! :oh:

I hope that the fire department boat will not look like this one from 2007 (which did not include any interior and had no back walls downstairs) and the fire truck with boat not like this one from 2008 (which was much too big and plump)! But I highly doubt that they'll be much different to these. :sceptic:

Is there another meaning for ferkel?

I don't want to get excited for pigs and find out ferkel can also mean 'yet another boring uninspired farmer figure who you could get in 50 other sets'

Aw man, and just when I have decided to dedicate all my purchases to Trains and City :sadnew:

What happened TLG?? What was wrong with the civilian side of city? (airport is ok since that is civilian I think)

However fire again really makes me angry, I have the 07 fire station and I love it, so no need for another one here!

Same with the other fire sets, overkill

Airport, I hope that Lego makes this cool since I haven't seen a decent airport since the 1990s or so.

I think I good idea would be to release it in bits, like terminals and security checkpoints and shopping, instead of doing it all together with part count limitations and lacking details and lower overall quality.

But maybe they will surprise us :sweet:

I think the ones I will enjoy the most are the farm and cars sets

The past ones look great and maybe one day I can buy them if there is a TRU opened here :hmpf_bad:

Hopefully we see more civilian sets like the City Corner set!

Buses and other shops can be made as possible add on's or expansions

Is TLC having trouble selling civilian based sets I wonder???

Well, it`s still a big question what 3xxx means in 2010 City, but we surely get the Fire and pigs.

Shit, i just spent on last Fire HQ as it reminds me of my childhood when i had the Blaze Brigade. The only hope is that the 2010 HQ is worse than what now, or i have to find a buyer.

Nevertheless, lets look at this from a better point of view - dont you think TLG should have a rest with the non-stop developing as there is many rather big faults in 2009 City summer, such as creepy bus doors which i cant forgive the TLG for?

And additionally, not interesting (for AFOL) theme is a good reason to cut on spending all way as i wish this to my wallet. I just need a time to stabilize after so much bought and still not fully assembled.

P.S Airport seems to be what i really wanted as a good addition to my small pavilion, i just wish a good building to go with the airport 2010.

I think everyone is over-reacting a bit. This isn't the entire City range for 2010, it's just the things that were kind of predictable - fire stations, airports etc. And these things are always going to be released every three years or so, and why not? If boys can't buy their big fire station when they're young, they won't go on to become AFOLs. To expect AFOL desires to dictate the entire Lego range is rather naive. Just be grateful for the fact that Lego are doing AFOL sets in the first place.

Anway, what I was saying is that there are at least 20 new city sets in a year, and assuming many of the ones listed in this thread are DUPLO, the majority could still be anything. ANYTHING. And it's as unlikely for the Lego company to alienate their adult fans as it is for them to bore their youngest fans.

Be patient. Lego always keep their biggest surprises the most secret. :classic:

The farm sets sound great. And I'll probs get that. And the trains also sound cool

But yet. "more" fire fighting?! Is this a joke? TLG did so well this year with the farming. But now they've ruined it with yet, even more fire fighting sets :hmpf:

Now why did I buy a BrickForge pig when I knew the piglets were coming out? For a mother pig, of course. I only hope that the pigs aren't pink (know LEGO they likely will.) 'cause the pink pigs on BF were sold out so I had to make do with tan. I shoulda waited.

So in lame mans terms....

That's layman not "lame man". A layman is someone who is not a specialist in a profession and hence an expert whereas a lame man is person with a disability which impedes mobility. ;)

wow, so much action over a non-confirmed list.

I think I'll just hold back my comments untill I see some pictures.

The fire station is not a big surprise given the 3 year life-cycle for fire stations.

Personnally, I think/ feel we may get some more sets, since Lego released more new City sets per year the last couple of years (29 in 2008, 24 in 2009).

over half the population of lego city must be enployed by the emergency services and construction, so the other half must be pyromaniac criminals  !

most of them are homeless(not due to lack of money but lack of houses) and the city is under constant construction(maybe there trying to build houses but dont know how)!

theres not a school or play ground in sight, and theres a lack of toy shop, why?, because theres few children!

it appears that all minifigures do is work, shop and eat pizza.

the hospital is rather small for the ammount of accidents that must happen to give reason to the massive fire brigade and police force.

if you brought all the current city sets there would be more emergency services than normal people, there would be more construction vehicles than buildings, and it would be the most polluted city ever with all the construction and helicopters and police cars going around.

I'll admit I am disappointed to see more fire sets, especially after the 2009 city sets made the future of the line look so promising. It's also strange that there were many online polls from Lego asking what the fans wanted to see in City 2010. I remember that most requests were asking for new lines rather than emergency services. It's funny that the old company motto used to be 'Just Imagine', yet with the appearance of (in my opinion) too many licensed sets and the continuous repetition of fire and police sets we no longer are seeing much in the way of imagination.

I know people are protective of the company that we all love and jump into these threads trying to defend the company's choices. I don't wish my comments to be seen as rude as my thoughts differ from others. I also acknowledge that Lego is a toy and is aimed at children. However, as paying customers I feel people have the right to show their opinions, especially when there is a lot of potential for new lines or to build remakes of old city lines, which aren't updated every couple of years, eg Paradisa style sets, which were very popular.

Also, I would question whether every child would prefer a fire or police set. In my JFOL days I never bought a fire set. They just didn't appeal. I had limited funds and preferred the civilian sets, air shows, trains, outdoors/leisure, pizza shop, beach, harbour.

Having said that, we haven't seen pics yet so the 2010 sets may be very good. I just hope the fire sets contain civilian figures and new torsos, heads, etc for minifigs as well as great parts, which are the most important bits for AFOLs. I'm looking forward to the piglets and (Stadtflitzer) cars! Other than fire, the remaining sets don't seem to stick to a theme, which is a little odd. Have we definitely ruled out Duplo?

I also liked civilian sets. But nevertheless I think a lot of kids prefer emergency services and I also had quite some fire sets (but that's probably because my dad is a fireman). Come to think of it, it could be that the parents of (especially) boys unconsciously have certain stereotypical ideas of what kids should be playing with. Fire and police sets fit quite nicely into those stereotypes. When offered a choice of a set to pick, for example, I once chose The Guarded Inn (one of the few 'civilian' castle sets).

There's a little bit of that sort of knee-jerk defensiveness around here, but it's not nearly as bad as some other sites where any criticism of the Lego Mothership is met with angry attacks on your heritage, intellgience, and personal hygiene. I find most EBers are pretty open-minded, as long as you back your criticism up with some relevant facts, and state your opinions politely (which you did very nicely!). Nobody wants to read posts like "TLG sukz!"

And I totally agree with your point -- even though we may not be the target audience, the fact is that we are also paying customers, and therefore are fully within our rights to spout off on message board forums!! Not that any of our ranting and raving has ANY effect on Lego's business decisions, but it makes us feel better, right?

It doesn't make that much difference at this point, but I thought I should give you guys the correct translations for some of the ones that Google didn't get quite right. Of course the official English titles might be different. Especially with 7213 the correct translation makes it clear that the boat is a firefighting vessel, and not an additional boat that might be on fire/need rescuing... and for 3179, it is only a single vehicle and nothing more (the "car repair" translation sounded like a garage, or service center which would have been great  ).

It really is a shame that they are doing the whole police/fire/rescue thing again but I guess they sell well.

Lego 7684 - City Ferkel-Gehege mit Traktor (pigsty with tractor)

Lego 3179 - City Reparaturwagen (breakdown vehicle...unlikely to be a tow truck or flatbed recovery vehicle as that would be an "Abschleppwagen")

Lego 7213 - City Feuerwehr-Truck mit L

The piglet set sounds so wonderful!! I hope they integrate well with my BrickForge pigs. I certainly hope they add more farm sets in 2010. I would very much like to see something with crops, perhaps on a brown baseplate with an airplane crop duster to fly over!

As for the police/rescue/fire/etc. Lego has to manufacture what sells. If they made no money we wouldn't have lovely sets like the green grocer or the Medieval Market. I am perfectly happy with them selling and making whatever so long as they continue to create things that AFOLs like too. If you hate the repeat stuff don't buy it, or buy it and make something better out of it. After all isnt' that what lego is all about?

I've just found this pic on Flickr. I haven't seen this set before? Could it mean a new hospital- line in 2010?

Sorry if someone has posted this before, I'm new here... It's set 2064 by the way...

Bigger pic: HERE
