Wizarding World 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

I’m very interested in Hagrid’s hut and Forbidden Forest creatures sets. I’m totally into molded creatures!

But if Forbidden Forest. Sets turn out to have a bunch of brick-buildable creatures then it’s a hard pass for me.

I never own the flying car from since 2018 so I would be glad buying it!

As much as I dislike the idea of yet another Flying Ford, which has now pretty much become this theme’s Luke’s Landspeeder, I’m glad some people like it  Being a completionist (sort of) sucks a bit sometimes :laugh_hard:

I count as LEGO themselves count. As they included even Florian Fortescue or Proffessor Sinistra I have added known non-speaking characters as well. I've separated them though:

Thanks, I updated mine. Some minor things:

- Alicia Spinnet, Millicent Bulstrode and Eloise Midgen are all Non-Speaking.

- You have the Housekeeping Witch twice in your list. :classic:

Well we’ve already got a molded hippogriff confirmed.

There’s also a piece count of only 172 for this set, and in order to be ‘Forbidden Forest: Magical Creatures’ instead of just ‘Magical Creatures’ it presumably needs some tree builds. So I think it’s likely we’ll be seeing molded creatures since that low piece count just wouldn’t be enough for trees, minifigs and accessories, and brick built creatures - they have to be molded to explain that piece count (and that price alongside it).

Wouldn't be bad to have a bowtruckle on a tree (Bowtruckle | Harry Potter Wiki | Fandom), would it?

That would be nice. Bowtruckles, like nifflers, were covered in CoMC class in the books but cut for time in the movies. An actual bowtruckle piece might be to delicate, but there was a printed bowtruckle on the cmf series 1 Newt minifig and I think a 1x2 clear tile with a bowtruckle printed on it could easily climb and perch all over a tree built with that in mind and be very cute.

And, well, if lego wants to add more creatures to a CoMC inspired set - Nifflers and bowtruckles are probably the most recognizable ones canonically covered  in the books (other than unicorns which wouldn’t fit in the set) thanks to the Fantastic Beasts movies.

So, what's the future of large D2Cs for HP? Are we pretty close to being done? Now that Hogwarts, Hogwarts Express, Diagon Alley, Gringott's, and the Icons set are out, all I can think of for them to do is The Burrow, which I wouldn't have even considered had the set not leaked awhile ago.

Honestly? I'd expect the "forest" part to be something along the lines of the sad little tree build in the Thestral Carriage. Or even worse, Expecto Patronum.

I could see them releasing the Knight Bus or the Flying Ford as large-scale models. Then we have more icons (Sword of Gryffindor, some of the horcruxes) and creatures (Basilisk, Aragog). And there’s unfortunately always a chance they start to do remakes of D2Cs

Yes. We absolutely need more cars in HP./s

How about a Death Eater bust? Since the Black Panther one sells so well. 😉

Well, I’m not saying that’s what I’d want, just pointing out the possibility

A 'UCS' Hogwarts that is formed of just the most famous part - the Great Hall and Grand Staircase Tower would be my pick for a future large build.

It could be minifig compatible with over 20 figures, including various different rooms in the tower section above the staircases and being able to change the set up in the Great Hall (Welcome Feast, Halloween, Christmas, House Cup, Duelling Club, etc)

Sounds like a UCS Hogwarts is what the 2018 Great Hall’s designer made before it got whittled down. I’d love to see something like that if the rectangle mess continues. Maybe one $250 set per year. I also think that the great hall and staircase tower could be separate sets.

Well, just as ideas, I think there's space for other sets as @BrickBob Studpants suggested. Considering buildings, in the long time I think Great Hall with Gran Staircase Tower and Grimmauld Place could received the D2C treatment.

A set I'd like to see is a Leaky Cauldron compatible with Diagon Alley, with the entrance to the Magic World and a section of street from the Muggle World. Unfortunately, considering that Diagon Alley could reach its end of life in 2024 (I don't remember where I've read it) and the new possible Diagon Alley style (last WWW shop set), I don't see so likely.

Something I don’t think we’ve celebrated enough is the lack of foldout sets this wave. No books, banners, or trunks. It’s shocking to think just how many we had packed into 3 years. Maybe they’ve decided to stop them due to over-saturation or maybe they never sold well in the first place. Weren’t they all retired and on discount pretty quickly?

Honestly? I've gotten pretty tired of the gimmicky play sets (as opposed to normal play sets that aren't basically just backdrops), but a) these days even normal playsets have so little depth that they may as well count as backdrops, so the difference is hardly significant; and b) I dislike buildable creatures/objects without any play value and without even a minifig included far more. If you give me the choice between a Moments book for EUR 30 with three figs and at least some semblance of a play set or a buildable Dobby for EUR 30, then Moments book it is.

So yeah, I'm not sure what there is to celebrate. Sure we won't get gimmicky foldout sets, but I'd rather have them than ANOTHER buildable Hedwig.

I'm also interested in seeing a Leaky Cauldron set. That and Knockturn Alley would complete Diagon Alley.

Do you guys think a UCS Knockturn Alley/Leaky Cauldron set would warrant enough sales for LEGO to greenlight it?

Honestly, I really doubt it. DA had the appeal of featuring the most prominent shops (besides Gringotts) and Gringotts has, well, Gringotts, plus the underground section and the dragon. Another add-on would be desirable, but that would lack the iconicity of the other two and DA will have reached its EOL by then, making the whole exercise a bit pointless for newcomers. An add-on for the new WWW on the other hand...
